Others say...
"Warning!!!" Command & Conquer 3 is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. For people familiar to the C&C series, you will probably be pleased with the original interface and the return to GDI/NOD conflict.
Here's the catch: This game is extremely poorly programmed! It WILL crash either during a game or on start-up, if it installs at all. I think the un-updated game that comes on the disc is OK, but the patches will kill it. It's your choice, don't update and sacrifice online multi-player, or update and be ready for lots and lots of crashes. As of this writing, EA knows about the problem and may or may not be working to fix it, but the problems haven't yet been fixed.
The game looks great and is fairly easy to learn, it is such a shame that it is so crippled with bugs.
"The Strategy Leader!" I have always liked C&C games because of their different style of RTS. Command&Conquer is now a huge title in the RTS industry; an original product of Westwood Studios has kept the attention of thousands, making the revolution in 1996 with the original Command&Conquer, Westwood's RTS (that includes Tiberian Sun and Red Alert) now was admired by leading corporations, and EA's attention never quit til they could convince Westwood to be a part of their company. Now EA uses their name, and promotes these games taking the credit, but we all know the true people (which are now part of EA) that really MAKE the game.
Command&Conquer is different and makes the difference! Companies had tried to copy this unique RTS, but they certainly fail or do it different. Not too much people know about Command&Conquer, so to you new people searching for a GOOD STRATEGY GAME, I fully recommend this game, and after testing and reviewing it, I give this game 5 stars.
"Kane Lives!" So here I was looking for a cool new game when I heard that Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars was released. I have been a fan of the series so I was wondering when the game was going to come out and when it did if it will meet my expectations. I got the game like two weeks ago and so far it has been great, I haven't played the multiplayer mode yet but the single player mode is awesome. I personally like the return of the Full Motion Videos (FMV) especially when Kane is on, he is the man, I have never seen anyone so determined. So the story is pretty good, the graphics are awesome, and the gameplay is lots of fun. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is already a fan of the series and even to those who have never played one. Kane Lives!
"Shiny new paint on an old-school game (still fun, though)" I am new to the Command and Conquer series, so I bought C&C3 with no particular expectations. I thought that the demo--which I recommend you play before buying--was merely decent, but decided to give the game a shot. If you are into real-time strategy (RTS) games, this one is worth a try. It is fairly easy to pick up and play, has lengthy campaigns, and it looks great. However, this is, at best, second-tier gaming in my book. When compared to the likes of Dawn of War or Battle for Middle Earth 2, C&C3 doesn't fair well. However, it does have its moments and can provide some good entertainment.
Gameplay: This game has a late 1990s feel to it. It's an RTS game where back-and-forth resource collecting, tank rushing, and unit spamming still rule the day. But to its credit, these throwback features are put together fairly well. The game does allow for some strategic decision-making, despite itself. For example, you can tech fast to big tanks and the super-weapon and hope that the enemy does not show up in the meantime. Or, you can depend on air power to take out strategic targets and take a chance on the enemy not having good air defenses. Or, you can raid the enemy base with an expensive commando early on. Or, you can take a chance and construct turrets all over the place and play a defensive game, at least for a while. Sometimes, tank spam will win the day, but not always. A mixed force is usually best if you don't know what your enemy is up to.
The campaigns are somewhat interesting overall. Each of the three races (GDI, NOD, and Skrin) have their own story lines, which will allow you to become familiar with each side. There are a good 35 missions in all which should keep you preoccupied for a while. The missions are uneven in quality and difficulty. Some are fairly easy and straightforward and can be completed in 10 minutes. A few will require repeated, frustrating efforts and are based on questionable design decisions. The stories are tied together by cutscenes that are generally decent, especially for NOD.
The AI holds its own pretty well in skirmishes. It switches up its strategies, flanks your base, and fights aggressively. You can set the AI to behave in various ways based on your gameplay style and skill level. Unfortunately, the game ships with only about 20 skirmish maps, with the typical over-abundance of 2-player maps. However, a map editor has been released by the developer, and a few decent player-made maps have appeared. I assume that the inevitable expansion pack will include more maps, missions, and units.
C&C3 flaws are largely tolerable and relate primarily to it being a re-make of an older game. Its familiarity as a traditional RTS is both its greatest strength and weakness. The resource model is straight out of classic RTS games like the Age of Empires series, Warcraft games, and other C&C games. Some will find this enjoyable. However, it leads to the ugly base sprawl and pathfinding problems that are the bane of such games, as well as games that degenerate into who can destroy the other player's harvesters and refineries the fastest. Very few of the newer gameplay mechanics that are found in recent RTS games are found here, such as hero units, RPG-style leveling (well, units do gain experience, but you hardly notice), or alternative win conditions (you must annihilate the enemy in every game to win). Since you can climb the tech tree so fast and spam units so ridiculously, you never feel any attachment to any of them. And gameplay is fast and furious. I hope that an expansion introduces some sort of hero units or roleplaying elements to the game, along with some caps on the number of super units that can be made (at least things like Mammoth tanks should be more expensive). Anyhow, as I said before, some people are going to like this traditional style of gameplay. At least the game has modern amenities like hotkeys, save/load options, and easily adjustable difficulty levels.
Visuals: The game looks great, especially on high settings. Explosions, heat exhaust effects, unit animations, and map features are very well done. Each side looks distinctive. The interface is a lot like that of Battle for Middle Earth 2; necessary information is easy to get to without being in the way. The cutscenes, while a bit to melodramatic at times, do tell the story well, and the actors are all usually convincing, besides the fact that they are talking to the camera most of the time.
Sound: Units make appropriate sounds and have decent voice acting. They don't have the personality of a game such as Dawn of War or even Warcraft 3, but they're good enough. The game's music is also decent, but not memorable.
Technical issues: The game comes with a good manual that explains the basics. The tutorial mission is only for GDI; there should have been a tutorial mission for all three races. The game has run nearly flawlessly on my computer, with only one crash in about 50 hours of gameplay. I suppose it should run well on most mid-range and better computers.
Replayabiity/Value: Since RTS games probably offer the best replay value for the dollar of any gaming genre, anyone who likes RTS games should get good value from C&C3. There is an online community, and the AI poses a good challenge. I would not be interested in replaying the campaigns any time soon, but could see running through them again at some point. If you are a fan of the C&C series, I imagine this is a no-brainer buy. For those (like me) with no previous experience with C&C, play the demo first. I overall recommend this game.
Pros: --Great graphics, scalable to various computer set-ups. --Good AI, entertaining campaigns, decent skirmish mode --Easy to pick up and learn --Some strategic depth, despite itself --Fast and furious gameplay
Cons: --Fast and furious gameplay --Spamalicious; badly needs either caps on super units, more balance, and/or increased costs --Old-fashion gameplay, with unsightly base sprawl and tired resource collection model --Only 20 skirmish maps, with too many 2-player maps --A few very frustrating campaign missions
"Best C&C Yet!!" The Addition of a new race to play is a nice twist online ame play is much more balanced and much more fun

What our customer's say!
"Tiberium Wars: Quick, but fun", It was rather quick for an Electronic Arts game, but still fun. I recommend playing it in Normal or Difficult mode to get the most out of it. I love the Command and Conquer franchise that EA has set up, and look forward to their next release.
"Great gameplay", Although they went with the "if ain't broken" method (just like the road Starcraft 2 appears to be taking), it still packs a punch. One of the best RTS in years. And for those with a beefy system, get Company of Heroes too!
"Basically as good as "Generals"... Classic Startcraft still better!", I guess I had pretty high expectations... especially with the all-star cast... but it's overall not that much better than the very last game, Command and Conquer: Generals which I liked for the most part. Ok, there's better graphics and a neat little story line with the movies and all... but gameplay is the same.
I will say that I agree with one of the other reviews that there needs to be a "cap" of some sort on the higher level units (ie. higher costs, limited units at one time, etc.)
One last thing... I had a ton of trouble getting it installed! Kept getting an error. When I looked online... apparently there were tons of others with the same problem... and EA Support would never get back to me or the others in the various forums. I was going to take it back and I happened to find info on how to fix it which worked. But it took time to fix EA's mistake and was complicated especially after spending over $60... and I was lucky I know how to do some of these things.
So I am obviously even more disappointed because of the time I feel I wasted working on this problem in anticipation of a great new game which was just ok.
"XP or better", The product reviews for Ea Games: Tiberium Wars and TW Kane Edition say the games are compatible with Windows 98 and 2000- they are not.
"Excellent", CnC3 is by far the best of the CnC series. the story line is much batter than any of the previous. The grapics are amazing. The ONLY complaint I have is the sound. If you're looking at another part of a map you can't hear ANY of the action going on off-screen. Even if it's off of the screen by a little. No biggie, you just have to pay attention better to your units. You don't get a warning anymore if your units are under attack.
You might need this...
Read this reviews before You buy...
"WELCOME BACK COMMANDERS!", Let me make it clear from the beginning: GREAT GRAPHICS! Physics and details are AMAZING! I particularly liked the exhaust distortions, the dust of the passing mammoth tanks and the burning debris falling from destroyed flying units! And for graphics like that it does not require the moon an the stars hardware-wise! Even my 3year-old office system sporting a 3.2MHz P4 with 2GB of RAM and a (new) nVidia 7600GT can manage the highest settings. Why is this important? I had STALKER gathering dust waiting for my next PC - only, when it will eventually be playable, it will also be...obsolete!
The story moves along, new units get unlocked, you gather, you built, you defend, you read the terrain, you amass your forces and you push forward hoping for the best. No try it again with the Bad guys.
Where it misses the 5th star: one cannot hold a battle formation while moving as most major units move at different paces and (although the AI has improved) they keep bumping on each other. May be the next C&C could have some TOTAL WAR infused into it, with battle formations options.
- Is it balanced? Mostly YES. - Does it require tactics? As much as one might expect from a COMMAND & CONQUER Game. - Can you still hog resources until you tank-rush the opposition? YES (sometimes the only solution) - Is it GENERALS 2.5? Definitely NOT! It has a clear C&C character!
True, I could do without the wooden acting of Michael Ironside! (Gone are the days of Kari Wuhrer...Lock'n'Load!)
"Not as good as Generals or Zero Hour", I was really looking foward for this game to come out, but when I played it I was completley disappointed. This game is no where near Company of Heroes...by far the best RTS game on the market today. I even like Generals and Zero Hour more than I like Tiberium war.
"Kane would burn amazon to the ground", C&C3 brings back the old face paced building to the scene, as well as the old story of resource gathering. A lot of the old formula is here, leading many to say it is just the same old C&C with better graphics. I say, this is a good thing. With Supreme Commander and Company of Heros pushing the boundaries of RTS genre with new innovative ideas it is nice to have some games that just keep to the old genre while still making it feel fresh and fun. Command and Conquer isn't going to blow your mind but it is going to give you plenty of hours of fun game play which is what its really about.
"Command & Conquer 3:Tiberium Wars Kane Edition", I will make this Quick, and simple. I you like C&C games you will love this one. If you have never played a C&C game, and like a games where you start with a small force, and you have to build a base, and your forces up, kick your off the map enemy you will love this game. I think it's a must to buy.Command & Conquer 3:Tiberium Wars Kane Edition DVD
"A good time waster....", C&C 3 is a fantastic strategy game, while not as good as Warhammer 40K dawn of war, or Company of heroes. It still pleases with its straight forward game-play of tech up, build a ton of tanks as quickly as possible, then rush your opponent who is trying to do the same thing as you.
The story line is great and will please any C&C fan who's been with the franchise since day one.
What I dont like about C&C 3 is how tanks rule and infantry kinda get swept to the side. I love commando units, but the fact that infantry aren't used in multiplayer, dosen't make them worth spending the credits on.
The only other thing I don't like is how NOD has no heavy hitting ground unit. The Avatar is grossly under-powered spend 3000 credits to buy it, then spend another 6000 credits to maximize it; makes it not worth using.
Besides those two gripes I think the game is a worthy addition to the C&C family of games.
