"Impressive"
This was a Christmas gift for my 8-year-old nephew. He enjoyed it right out of the box. It is a large toy with quite complicated transformations that took me a while to teach him (after another while learning them myself). He eventually mastered it and had a ton of fun with it. The individually moveable fingers and arms were a hit, as were the sound (sonic) features and the different ways to set up the feet. He also got Bumble Bee, which he found a way to fit in Optimus Prime's rear wheel rack. This toy proved very good at challenging his mind with the series of moves required for the transformations. It is very durable and is still working well after three months of wear and tear.

"Optimus is prime!"
My 4 year old sone loves this toy! The transformation process is very clever. Every day my son prefers the robot then the truck, then the robot, then the truck.....

"Optimus lives"
great robot form- good truck form- lacks silver or chrome paint/parts.
The transformation is complicated- I have to confess that it was the first time i ever had to use the instruction booklet to transform a transformer- it was the feet- had the same issue with leader classs megatron toy.
In my defense i could see how it could work but the joints were so tight i wanted to check they were supposed to turn first.
Proudly stands shoulder to shoulder with my Ultra Magnus, Matroplex and Galvatron.

"Quality toy"
I got this for my husband because he is a transformers collector. He seems to really enjoy this. It is durable and fun to transform. Great addition to a transformers collection.

"Great"
Nice toy. But, to tell you the truth, he's too small. I thought he'd be bigger. However, he transforms beautifully and has awesome details. Overall, I like it a lot.

What our customer's say!

"It's something your kids can spend a lot of time playing with", After reading the reviews, I got the impression that this toy looks good in robot and truck mode. I was not disappointed. Once I got it out of the package, which was not easy, my 11 year old son took it. He pulled things in different directions for about 20 seconds, decided that things were complicated, and he wanted to look for an on-line tutorial. He has an older transformer that is relatively complex, and I was never able to figure that one out. We expected this to be tougher, so I wasn't surprised that he did not dive into it.

I glanced at the instructions and could not make sense of them. Perhaps it was because I did not start out as in the beginning picture. But I tend to be good with "picture only" instructions, and this one will not act as a simple "how to" guide. After playing around with it for a while, I found that it was not as tough as I expected. My son said that since it took me about 15 to 20 minutes, it could not be so bad. He decided to do it on his own and had a lot of fun with it.

After you do it a couple of times, it might not take more than 5-6 minutes to become a truck, but it is still intricate enough that it will not be boring for a child. It's not something that will get cast aside after a few days. Turning it into a robot is relatively trivial. If you merely pull everything outwards, it becomes self evident fairly quickly. But there will still be a few stumbling blocks, especially the first few times, and there will be a few things that won't be quite right without a little work.

I would not recommend it for a five year old, or for anybody who tends not to be good at puzzles or similar toys. But if experience tells you that you are ready for it, or if you don't mind a good challenge, you end up with an impressive looking robot and truck. If you make sure that the child's expectations are set correctly, it can be good for a variety of skill levels. Let them know that it will take time to figure out, but it will be fun trying to do it.

One con is that it does not have much ground clearance as a truck. Pushing it along a sidewalk could scrape up the joint in the middle of the bottom. For indoor play, it should withstand more roughness.

Transforming it is like playing with a Rubik's cube. It's tough at first, you can eventually get it down to a few minutes, and you will probably get bored with it once it becomes easy. The difference is that your child won't need to keep transforming it, since the goal is creating a toy, not solving a puzzle. Both the truck and robot are fun for a child to play with.

There are different versions of this, so do a search on amazon before you buy it. Mine came with an extra two small figures, and cost less than buying Optimus Prime alone. But prices can fluctuate daily.

"He is Otimus Prime", I bought this product from a local store and i have to say that it is one of the best Optimus Prime figures i'v ever seen, the transformation from truck to robot leader is kinda hard, but once you get used to it, it gets easier. Th one i got has the blaster, i would have liked the sword but the blaster is fun when you use it to shoot other figures or your annoying cat. It's not really for younger kida, esspically since it is kind hard to transform, but if your older person and kid at heart, get it, esspically if your a fan of Transformers, wether it be the comic, tv show, or movie.

"make a birthday boy very happy", I bought this as a gift for a dear friend in Hungary. He LOVES it, partly because it's American and partly because he's the envy of his friends and partly because he loves transforming it.

"Blasphemy rendered in cheap plastic form.", sorry, but speaking as a REAL transformers fan(meaning, a fan of the ORIGINAL 80's tv show and toys), all i can say is that this is a pathetic hunk of cheap-a$$ plastic. And as i've stated in the title, it's downright BLASPHEMY just what Hollywood has done to this once-hallowed toyline in this so-called "brave new millenium". Hey, rate this piece of junk and all its related items/entries as high as you want, but don't dare try to pass yourself off as a real TF fan. And that's all I care to say on that subject. Discussion closed.

"Great toy from Hasbro", I got this product for my son for his 5th B'day and he loved it. The tough part came when I started transforming it to a Prime mover. Man, that took us about 3 hours, even with the instructions. But once you've done it once its quite easy the next time. Me and my wife did the transformation for our son.

But I must insist, its a clever design and I and my son love it. Some people who saw it, loved it.

It does balance well when standing. Its looks great in the truck mode.
It is a very hardy toy and does not break easily.

All in all I think its one of the best toys but more as a collectable. Kids will love it if they love Transformers.

Thanks to Hasbros for the creativity again.

"A great learning toy as well as a fun toy", this toy is 2 in one, very sturdy and like a puzzle game.
my 4yr old loves it and is learning to change it back and forth. a great product, i will no doubt i will be back for other transformers!

"Optimus Origami", My nephew wanted Optimus Prime for Christmas, and with the impact Transformers had on my childhood, I couldn't resist. This particular one will confuse you for a full hour. The directions are spatially disorienting. That's the price of intricacy I guess. Opposable thumbs, functioning fingers, fully articulated limbs.

"A new twist to the old concept", Lots of fun for my 9 year old son. I am impressed with all the detailed transformation. The parts are well seamed together. Though this model is more stylish it may not be as tough as the previous Optimus. All round it is still a good toy.

"Impressive! ", Bought this for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and he really likes it. He isn't able to transform it yet on his own so do not buy it for a child under 8 unless you enjoy doing the transforming! It is sturdy and amazingly detailed though. Very impressive engineering! Well worth the money.

"Child's play", I purchased this toy for my 4-year-old godson, and he absolutely adores it! Everytime I've called for the past several weeks he has been playing with his transformer. He tells me that it was his favorite Christmas gift, and his mother says that it is the only toy he wants to take everywhere he goes. He is most entertained by the many things that the transformer can do. I tried to purchase the toy from Wal-mart and other websites right before Christmas, but they were all sold out. I appreciate [...] for having the right item when I needed it. Thanks!
