"Not as good as it seems", I have to agree with many of the reviews here. After having tried many different USB flash memories, I have to say this one comes short of what I expected. I can name a few disappointing things:
- bulky design
- may be water resistant but it easily bent from the adapter and died, so it's not so rugged after all
- compared to other flash memories it has SLOW performance, specially when transfering many small files. the slowest I've ever tried.
- cap comes off easily



"USB Connector Falls Off", I bought this particular drive (4 gig version, back when the price was higher) because it appeared to have a solid build and I liked the soft, "easy grip" exterior. The drive worked fine, but after about 6 months of light use and careful handling, the USB connector came loose and fell off. I tried to reseat it, but no go.

Also, I think all such drives ought to have a capless design, or at least have the cap fit the end, like a pen cap does. I've also seen some that are tied to the device. A cap is just too easy to lose. However, I must admit--leaving the cap in a visible location helped me to not forget and leave the drive in my school computer.

"As advertised", Got this in the mail, plugged it in, and it works. It does create a window in WinXP that says I could get faster service if I plugged into a USB 2.0 port...but my computer doesn't have one. I haven't dropped it in anything wet to test the waterproof claim. Of course, I assume that claim is only valid if the rubber cap is over the business end!!

"disastrously slow", I bought this thumb drive to transport large log files from a contract job.
Unfortunately I have found that the file transfer speed is *REALLY* slow.
USB2.0? Flash? I'm getting anywhere from 500KB/s to 2.5 MB/s transfer rates from my computer drive to the Corsair drive.
This is on a modern unloaded Macbook Pro. I'm currently looking at 4 hours to transfer 6GB of 100MB files. LOCALLY.


"GREAT !!!", 8 GB's.... This is a great product! I literally have no issues what so ever. One of the biggest benefits to this item is that it has a rubber shock absorbent outer layer, which is great for me because I'm constantly using and on occasion dropping my flash drive's, so to me this is a pretty big deal. (:

Read this reviews before You buy...

"rubber doesn't mean rugged", Things I liked about this drive:
- capacity
- speed
- nifty blue light that blinks when data was transferring

Didn't like:
- The rubberized cap sometimes grips other things like denim more than it grips the smooth metal of the USB connector, so it would come off when I was taking it out of my pocket. I ended up switching it for a non-rubberized cap from another defunct USB.
- It's just as vulnerable as any other USB drive in terms of getting bent/broken where the USB connector meets the body of the drive, and I guess I sat on it and bent it, and it ceased to work.

Currently I'm looking at getting a Sandisk Cruzer with a metal body and retractable USB connector, and I don't foresee having this problem again.

"Good Flash Drive", This flash drive has a significant amount of space and is "hardened" against shock (rubberized coating). This also keeps it from getting a five star rating from me. It is a tad thick if you want to stack something else in a close USB port, but of course the coating which makes it thick also gives it protection, so it depends on what you are looking for. This is a good product.

"Replaced a lost 16gb Corsair with the 8gb.", The Corsair thumb drives work great. I highly recommend them to anyone, the speed is decent and having 8 gigs in your pocket is very nice. I have a 16 gig also which was missing for a few months, being in the IT field having a thumb drive really makes life easier. Not even 2 weeks after i bought the 8 gig i found the 16 gig, It was in a pocket of a pair of pants that was washed and dried. All of my info was still on it. That is the 3rd time it got washed and it still works. Hopefully the 8 gig can handle a washing also =)

"Awesome", I have had this for a couple of months now and it works great... I use an encryption program with it - True Crypt - and this works well too. It is quick and secure.

I lost my last 8GB Usb drive and thats why I now encrypt all contents on all these type of devices... Losing it was like losing a wallet..

"Good speed, but too bulky for a MacBook Air", This flash drive is reasonably fast (especially if you copy one large file at a time), but its profile (i.e. the rubber casing surrounding the drive) is too thick for some USB connectors, such as that found on the MacBook Air (MBA). I found from the first time I used it on my MBA that there seemed to be some strain on the USB connector, and after about 40-50 uses, the MBA began to complain that it couldn't communicate with the drive.

In summary: if you have a USB connector that is easily accessible, this flash drive should work well, but it has a limited lifetime for small spaces.
