"I'll save you some time and money:"
Instead of paying for Roxio's buggy program and their criminal customer service, I'll just sum the program up for you here:

"Could not make a thumbnail. Make sure you have the appropriate decoder installed. -47010"

Funny, also, how having the appropriate decoder doesn't stop that message from showing up. Buy something else.

"much promise little fulfilled"
I have to feel that the tech support, although competent, was not helpful and somewhat testy in the responses. I came away feeling that i was either bothersome or lacking in skills necessary.

As a result, i am pretty sure that i would not want to deal with Roxio again.

"Simply Put: Does Not Work"
Save yourself a lot of trouble. Don't buy this.

I ordered this primarily, because it includes the dazzle device. I thought that I could use the device and the software to easily copy some family VCR tapes to DVD. Wrong! The dazzle ships without any instructions. There are two cd's containing the software and and drivers and some other junk. But when I attempted to install the dazzle, the installer complained about missing drivers. I went on-line and found that this is a common problem. I had to search out the drivers on my own. Finding and installing the drivers was not a trivial task. Once the drivers were installed, I still could not get Dazzle to work. A complete waste of time and money. Stay away.

"Not Vista Compatible, though advertised differently"
I purchased this product rather than Nero due to Roxio's claim that it was Vista-compatible and that it was a Windows Vista Premier Launch Partner. I received the product, but not the one Roxio listed with Microsoft as working with Microsoft Vista. I spoke with customer service and they indicated that no updates to version 9 will come out to make the product Vista-compatible, even though they already sell v.9.1, which is Vista-compatible. I interacted with customer service online and the gentleman indicated that the Vista update patch will be coming soon. No one has seen it. Version 10 is in the works, so why would they come out with the Vista-compatible update? The Dazzle DVC90 (included with Deluxe Suite) does not even work with Vista. If they would let me, I would get my money back and purchase a product from a different vendor.

"It Works!!"
I heard good things about Roxio's easy media programs and with the rebates the price is lower than getting a video converter alone. Of course price is relative, it isn't a bargain if it doesn't deliver. But it does do welll and this is an A-One package. I did buy a new Vista loaded computer so I didn't have to contend with older program conflicts. I also have 2MB RAM so performance should be at it's near maximum. The video tape conversion took about the time of running the tape. I did break up the segments so they were no longer than 30 minutes. There is a quick way to remove commercials in VideoWave too.
I would still recommend emc9 even if you have another converter or if you don't need to convert tapes. It will transfer music, video, and photos to a cell phone or iPod. There is a PSP converter but I don't own one. I like using PhotoSuite since it is as good as my old program. It is even better and I paid $30 plus for the old one.
There are some good deals now with Tivo so I just got a dvr. It was easy to transfer tivo files to the pc and then use emc9 to edit and also convert them for the cell phone. I don't know of another program with this much versatility. I think you would have to string together a large number of progams to get the same capability.

What our customer's say!

"ROXIO Easy Media Creator Deluxe Suite 9", This is the 2nd ROXIO suite I've bought over the years. Although version 10 became available soon after recieving version 9, I have been very happy with the ease of use and the bundle of codec features including DIVX. I do a lot of music CDs for the car and Home videos. The compression feature makes the video files much smaller for archiving. I like ROXIO because it is easy to use and loaded with features for the general user.

"Don't buy it, don't even steal it.", My original purchase from Roxio was v. 5, and it caused win98se to crash continually, then when I purchased v. 6 everything was fine. When I bought a new computer with vista I could no longer use v.6, so I downloaded v. 9 suite. Then the nightmares began. I have reloaded 9 suite 4 times because it caused system to crash. Then I looked at the system stability chart and saw that Roxio had caused the stability to go from 9.9(out of 10) to 1.6. Also, a month ago I was notified that my "trial" version had expired. I had purchased the full version. Roxio sent me a "fix" and it functioned again. Also, Drag-to-disc will not work- windows shuts program down due to compatiblity issue. The patches do not work. Also, each time you do a reinstall, you first have to do a "clean" install, meaning you have to go into the registry to remove all files. Even then, there are traces of the program in the system that will corrupt the OS after reinstalling.(Yes, I turned off Windows Defender and mcafee). I have asked Roxio repeatedly to send me a disc with all the "fixes", but they just send me form letters. I have removed all traces of Roxio from my system and now the system stability is great. DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE IT WILL CORRUPT YOUR SYSTEM.

"Roxio Creator 9", I should have read the reviews. This version definitely has problems working in the Vista OS. I could get part of it to work and had errors with the rest of. Save your money and look for something else

"SOOOOO Bad", Unlike the poor folks who shelled out their hard-earned money for this waste of megabytes, mine came bundled with my new computer - a lightening fast, high voltage, very expensive desktop from a popular manufacturer based in Austin, Texas.
Upon installation (if one could call it that) not only did the @$&*( thing lock up, but it also ate my RAM, thus causing every other program to slow to a crawl. Never got the stupid program to open, and, after reading all of the negative review on this site, I just gave up and uninstalled the @$#&*( thing. Which, by the way, took forever.
Do note, while my software box is labeled "Certified for Windows Vista", upon further investigation I noted that the "certification" is just a sticker slapped over the "Compatable with Windows 2000 and XP".

So, can anyone recommend some media software that works????

"Disappointed, I had expected better from Roxio", I found out after purchase that this product has many bad reviews on Roxio's website forum. I had used previous versions of their software and liked it.
It was supposed to be Vista certified but many people had a lot of problems. Some of the features turnd out to be not Vista compatible that Roxio finally put out a 9.1 upgrade, which just uninstalled the non-compatible parts leaving the user a bit short changed on the deal.

Although I dont have the crashing problems that others do, possibly becasue I dont have Norton or McAfee which seem to mess up the install, I was not happy with its performance, which slowed down my 3mhz/2g PC cosnsiderably.

I returned it in disgust to Amazon for refund

NB:Amazon was selling this with no mention that there was already an EMC 10 available.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"This is very bad software!!", Generally I have been pleased with Easy Media Creator but this latest version is just terrible. I would not install without doing a "clean installation" removing even the registry entries of other roxio products and then it still probably will not run after being installed. The support resources this company provides are pathetic. The email responses to questions are short and useless. The phone support is virtually impossible to access. If you buy this be prepared for hours of frustration and then ultimately be willing to work hard to try to get a refund because you will never be able to use it.

"Roxio Strikes Again", No matter how many versions of Roxio "Easy" Media Creator I have purchased, they all have had one thing in common: problems. Before you buy this product, read the reviews. Dont rely on Roxio's hype. The product has terrible bugs and the "fixes" dont fix anything. For example, when you install this product on a Vista machine, you will get a pop-up from Microsoft warning about driver incompatibilities. When you go to Roxio's site, they say there is no problem...hmm, wonder why Microsoft thinks there is? Also, you must have a very powerful computer for this software to be of any value...I advise several GB's minimum. (I have 3 GB)... If you are not very conversant with video editing, dont even think about buying a product like this, as it will be way over your head, you will have little success, lots of frustration, and Roxio will be zero help (check out their "Help" on-line and try to find something really helpful)...and for a real joke: "Ask Roxanne."...And then there's the massive Roxio "Drag and Drop" program which they insist on starting up every time Windows loads, and which deposits a giant icon on your desktop every time. They say you can uninstall D&D -- just try it and see if "Easy" Creator runs at all....I've seen some lousy software in my day, but this wins the booby prize...I'm going to Photoshop Elements Video product: cheaper, and has some glowing reviews. Photoshop (Adobe) is a very reputable company, which has a history of producing premier imaging products, and which really stands behind their products... or if you buy Vista, try their included video editing feature - its basic, but then thats all most home user really want anyway.

"Features, but hardly works", I've been a Roxio/ EZ CD Creator user for many years. This version and suite packs a lot of features - everything you need for multimedia it seems.
Has a lot of programs that start in the background and run all the time - they use quite a bit of your memory. It also hangs, or just refuses to open components. I often have to reboot in order for it to do what I want to get done (and I have a decent PC, working in the IT business). I have not gotten a slideshow to complete - it always locks up using all the cpu and I have to kill it. The videowave version gives me so many problems I generally give up and open Videowave version 4.1 - can you believe it, so much better! I can still burn CDs great, but anything else it just raises my blood pressure. What a waste of money.

"Don't Install Roxio 9. Will crash system", I installed Roxio 9 and it was worthless to me. I uninstalled it and now my Roxio 7 that I use all the time, will not work. I have just about given up on ever getting it to work again. Creator Classic and Disc Copier will not work. They give me a API error. Just Google Roxio API, or go to Roxio site and look under Creator 9 Discussion group for API error. It is causing a lot of problems. I don't want to have to HD reformat and restore. That seems to be the only way to fix it at this time. Restore does not help.

"Not Compatable with my Computer", I had to return this product as it wasn't compatable with my video card. I think it would be good if I were able to use. It has a lot of updates from Roxio 6 which I had been using.
