What our customer's say!
"Q6600 - Fan Broken", Hi,
The product shipped quickly and I had no issues with the CPU. The fan however was broken and did not register with the motherboard. Unfortunately, the $2 fan could not be replaced without shipping the entire package back. It just wasn't worth the cost and put me out for about a week until I could purchase another fan.
Overall, the company that I bought from was great, I just wish that they were a little flexible with their return policy.
As for the product, intel + broken fan? = :-(
"This is THE chip to get", So, I'm one of those guys who spends way too much time on my computer, doing everything from gaming to programming. A few months back, I needed an upgrade from my Pentium D 925 because quite a few games were becoming quite slow, so I figured I'd go with the newer "Core 2" line to help bolster my computer's power (along with a new graphics chip). However, what I got was a lot more than what I had originally expected, which was merely more frames per second.
This processor -- with its four massively powerful cores -- truly redefines "multitasking". Whereas on my old machine, I would always limit the number of things I was doing at once (maybe watching a movie while typing up a word document), there's virtually no limit here! I can play graphics intensive games while having a movie running in the background while I encode some of my latest recordings into MP3 format without so much as a hitch on this thing! The multithreading capabilities that come with the chip are truly astounding!
However, it's not all about multitasking. I'm an avid gamer, and for the latest crop of games, with their multithreaded game engines, this chip proves to be a beast. Games such as Unreal Tournament 3 and Crysis would crawl on my old Pentium D, but with this new chip, I see a dramatic difference in framerate (I can chalk a lot of the gain up to my new gfx card, but I benchmarked my Core 2 Quad v.s. my Pentium D on the new video card, and even then, there was a massive improvement). Games nowadays are becoming increasingly multithreaded due in part to the existence chips like these, but also because of the Xbox 360 and PS3 architectures which force developers to write multithreaded code. It's only a matter of time before today's latest games require at least a dual core processor, so with this thing, you're ahead of the game.
Yes, I'm gushing about this thing. But, really, if you take away anything from this review, just note how ecstatic I am to have this chip. No matter what applications you run, whether you're a gamer or an audiophile, this chip will improve your computing experience.
Did I also mention it's a great value and a hell of an overclocker (I'm running it at 3.3GHz)?
Buy it!
"Still nead to put it to the test", Great product, easy to install, awesome performance, though I haven't given it much of a challenge yet. I'm looking forward to when we'll have more applications using the full power of a quad-core. I was lucky to get the one with the new stepping, so maybe I'll do some overclocking when the time is right. No point now; 4 core processors at 2.4GHz is more than enough at the moment.
"damn good", this beats my old 2.8 p4ht
this processor is amazing for its price.. well worth it!
"Great stock, OC it and it will FLY!", After some shipping issues (USPS idiocy, not Amazon's), I finally got this processor and fired it up. Stock it's really nice, but OC it a little and it FLIES. I was pleased when I received the GO stepping of this (newer edition) as it OC's much better than the earlier edition. With just the stock heat sink and a decent thermal paste, I was able to get this up to a stable 2.82 Ghz from the stock 2.4, with reasonable heat levels (during stress testing it never exceeded 59C), and didn't even have to mess with voltages to get it there. With water cooling you can easily get this well over 3 Ghz. Stable as hell, and the performance gains are incredible. If you've got a decent mobo, you can OC this to (and past) the performance of the more expensive "Extreme" processors, for about half the price. Bottom line: get this processor and you will not be sorry.

"PODER DE SOBRA", Instale este procesador en un board ASUS P5KC y utilizo Windows vista 64 bit, con 2GB de memoria DDR2 800Mhz. Normalmente edito videos al mismo tiempo que disfruto de juegos tan pesados como Crisys y este procesador me da poder para esto y para mas.
NOTA: sustituyan el disipador que trae por uno de mejores prestaciones para no tener problemas con la temperatura.
"good OC processor", I received a G0 SLACR version. It is OC's to 3GHz (9x133) on a GA-EP35-DS3L with a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 cooling it. With an ambient temp of 27c and under 100% load on 4 cores for 26 hours, the cores never went above 58c. I am happy with it.
"Good processor", Very good processor for the money, quick, 4 core, 8 meg cache. I'd recommend for a very nice business/gaming system
"Core 2 Quad 6600", My recent purcahse of an Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 has been a wise purchase. To quickly 'shoo away' the white elephant in the room, no the Q6600 is nowhere near the realm of the much faster (and MUCH more expensive!) Core 2 Quad Extreme. Using the Q6600 as the CPU for my built from scratch computer system, the Core 2 Q6600 continues Intel's grand tradition of 'best bang for the buck' CPUs. The CPU's speed is very fast, fits the Intel 775 Socket on my new motheboard; I went with the EVGA SLI-Ready 680i and 4 megabytes of Patriot DDR 2-800mz memory. The instalation was as easy as ever and after even layer of thermal grease later I was more than good to go. The Core 2 Quad 6600 is your best choice if you cant afford the Core 2 Quad Extreme ($800.00 to $900.00 depending on where you look) or are simply looking to keeping the cost of a new CPU down as much as possible ($800.00 to $900.00 depending on where you look). With 8M of L2 cache, it has more than enough external cache to keep your system running smooth and reliably. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 was a great choice for a Quad Core CPU and one that will keep me on Intel's dise in the ongoing CPU war.
"Good reason for come back to Intel....", Incredible performance, it beat over 10k points in 3Dmark06, I have been AMD user for about 6 years, my last Intel was a Pentium III 550Mhz. LOL, but this processor model has a really intersting relation price/performance in comparision with AMD Phenom processors, I upgrade from a AMD X2 4400+ 939, and theres a huge difference in games like Crysis, Call of Duty 4, the new ones. The LGA775 chip its a nice idea, processor without pins, nice and secure system, more realiable than the conventional processors wich have the small pins that could be broken.
