"XP trumps Vista"
I bought a Dell laptop with Windows Vista installed, which never performed well. Vista was slow, unstable and incompatible with much of my software and periferals, so XP was the perfect solution. I had to hire a professional to delete Vista and install XP, but it was well worth the extra cost. If you take this route be sure to make copies of everything because all will be lost in the transition.

"Perfect for Mac with VMWare Fusion"
I found all the different versions of Windows very confusing as to what would work properly (and legally) on my new MacPro while spending minimum $$. After looking at a couple of reviews here I bought this version of Windows XP along with VMWare Fusion to be able to run Street Atlas and the few other programs only available for Windows. Installation was a breeze and it works great. I haven't run any intensive applications but Street Atlas and my Garmin software run perfectly. Only four stars... after all it's still Wiindows. :-)

"good price, quick service"
when it's time to nuke and pave, this is a good way to obtain a legal copy of XP Home (the functional OS).

"Old vs. New Version?"
Does anyone know if there's a practical difference between the "Old Version" for $90, and the "New Version" for $110 ? Seems the same spec...

"GREAT DEAL!!!"
look around at what others charge. i had a friend guide me thru and installed this with ease.

"It's Windows XP SP2 - Any Questions?", Ok, like the title says; It's Windows XP SP2. So what don't we all know about it by this point in time?

Personally I prefer to use my Macs over my PC, but this purchase was for my dad so he could still use Quicken 2008 and Family Tree Maker on his new iMac. Neither of those programs are well represented on the Mac, so Dad prefers to use Parallels running Windows XP to use the versions from his newly retired Windows notebook. It's a workable but clumsy solution until better Mac versions become available.

There nothing new to say about Windows XP SP2 that isn't common knowledge now. It is less expensive to use for running VMs like Parallels because of Microsoft's greedy licensing of Vista that requires purchasing Vista Ultimate, the most expensive version of Vista ($219.99), to be permitted run Vista in a VM. I think that is shameless price gouging on Microsoft's part.

"Serves its purpose for a Mac user", Very easy to install on my Macbook through VMWare Fusion. No difficulties whatsoever. Still greatly prefer Leopard over XP, however my workplace has some applications that only function through the Windows. Combined with VMware Fusion I have no difficulties using files in whichever OS is needed.

"XP - What you think it is",
This version of XP is cheaper than your typical version you find in the store or online - not sure why, but I saw someone refer to it when I was contemplating running Parallels on my MacBook. Works, well, like what you would expect. It did the job.

"Works good for use in parallels for IMac.", Used this on my IMac works great. I did have an issue getting the internet to run through windows using parallel program. Using information on the web got this issue resolved. Problem was setting up the parellel program not in this software.

"works perfectly with VMWare Fusion", Great price and all you need to plug into VMWare Fusion so that you can have Windows up and running.

"Window XP for Mac", This software runs better on my MacBook Pro than my Windows XP Professional runs on PC. Great for Mac users that still have a few PC programs that they like.

"Perfect for Parallels on the Mac", I installed this on a new iMac running Leopard and Parallels and it is working perfectly.

"Works just great with a new iMac", I installed this on a new iMac that already had 2 mac partitions - contrary to what the boot camp assistant says. I did not use the boot camp assistant but instead simply used the disk utility on the Leopard install disk (booted from that disk as well) to make a 30 gig PC partition. Then followed some online guides to install windows, then booted windows and again used the leopard install disk to add the windows drivers for the mac hardware. I don't even think you need Leopard installed at all - but you do need the install disk with the Leopard version of disk utility and the windows drivers.

Windows runs so much faster on a mac and this OEM works just fine despite all the warnings not to install OEM versions on a Mac.

"Used with bootcamp ", I used this copy of XP with bootcamp for my mac. Worked flawlessly. I have no Idea what the difference is between this version and the others. I HIGHLY recommend this copy of XP to all Bootcamp users (mac). It's basically XP for mac! :) :) :)

"Virtual Desktop Use", If you are considering this for a virtual desktop, this version is perfect and affordable. I ordered VMware Fusion and just followed the easy guide and after about 30-40 minutes everything was loaded, copied and finalized automatically.

I gave a rating of 4 stars because I prefer the mac system over it, but for the price, and what I am using it for, it is perfect. I would only use this version over vista and others because your mac will run quicker. Eventually you may want to have at least 2gb of ram, but I am using 1gb which is recommended and it is fine.

A note if you get VMware. It has a seamless "unity" option where you literally could not tell you were in xp. Once in that view mode, just click the application tab on the top and xp is at your fingertips!

Enjoy!
