"Great value...works well."
We just finished a two-week visit to Europe that included over 3300 km of driving in a rental car. I don't think we would have gotten out of Amsterdam without AutoRoute Europe. All told, we traveled from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf, Cologne, Strasbourg, Geneva, Burgundy, Saarlouis, Luxembourg, Trier, (then back to Dusseldorf and the Rhine valley to Rudesheim am Rhine, and back to Amsterdam to fly out).

The maps were 100% correct and provided plenty of detail to work. Connection to, and operation of my GlobalSat USB GPS pod was easy and flawless.

The software was easy to learn. (I didn't break the shrinkwrap until the night we arrived, and was able to navigate the next morning). No problems working with XP Pro on my Dell X1 laptop.

There were hotels and sights that I wouldn't have been able to find without it. In addition, it was indispensible in the narrow and convoluted roads of some of the old city centrums. Highly recommended.

"Did its job"
With GPS it got me around some fairly remote areas in France (Midi- Pyrenees). Haven't used it elsewhere. Glad I bought it.

"Great program but missing critical information"
Like the marvelous Streets and Trips program for the United States, this program has seeds of greatness. However, it is diminished by a failure to clearly and adequately disclose data gaps. When in Ireland I learned for the first time that the program does not have Republic of Ireland address search/location capability. This is a serious deficiency that forced rental of a vehicle GPS. Such gaps should be clearly disclosed prior to purchase. It was great in England and otherwise it is a useful program and easy to use.

"Buggy; hard to navigate"
You can't hide all places - that is a minor annoyance. The real problem is that it creates driving directions that are impossible to follow. "Local road, name changes to local road for 184 yards," for example.

"Could be better"
Hi,
I bought this software because I am taking a trip to England soon.

The software is ok, but it could be better, I am not a fan of the zoom. You have to go up to a zoom bar to adjust. I also own Delorme Street Atlas and I fing that software much easier to use from a functionality standpoint. To Zoom in the Delorme you drag a box, or stairstep out. (I know that isn't clear, but once you do it it's easy)

However the price on the Autoroute is what sold me. I will be using it for about one week, and will probably never use it again. The fact it sets up with a GPS is very cool, I am a fan of using a laptop as a GPS device, I will never get a pocket size one.

What our customer's say!

"Go buy a GPS for this purpose. In my opinion Autoroute will drive you no where but insane", We used Autoroute in Amsterdam for 3 days. Using the Microsoft GPS Antenna supplied with Streets and Trips 2008. AutoRoute Europe was the worst package I have ever worked with and was continuously slow to warn about turns and frequently planned turns the wrong way on one way streets. It was enough to convince me to by a TomTom GPS for the car and what a difference. The TomTom is an excellent product and will certainly leave you much less frustrated.

"MS AutoRoute Europe 2007", Easy to install and should work well with the Pharos GPS unit that I use with MS streets and trips 2005.

"I'm an AutoRoute NO GPS VICTIM too!", After an e-mail exchange with Microsoft Technical Support, I land in London to find the GPS features of AutoRoute 2007 won't drive my (De Lorme) antenna contrary to their assurances. Next I try to go on line, but find Win XP SP3 has knocked out my WiFi. Finally, reaching the internet, I find it full of blogs from others like me. support.microsoft won't deal with it, linking to some third party site that is no help. HELP? HELL NO! NO MORE MICROSUCX for me!
It WRECKED OUR TRIP.

"Greece not covered", Purchased this product because it was the only GPS software that claimed to cover Greece. Well if you are going from Athens to Cornith it looks like it will work well. Don't try to go to any smaller towns. Not covered. Well there goes 40 bucks

"Better, but still needs more", I upgraded to the 2007 edition of AutoRoute to see maps in countries not included in an earlier version of the software that I had. Specifically, I was interested in maps of Hungary and Greece. Though these countries are now included, the detail is largely limited to Budapest and Athens, with not much in the rest of the country. That was a disappointment.

About the software itself, I am a real fan. I have AutoRoute and also the US version (Microsoft Streets and Trips) and I use both to create small maps of cities to download to my PocketPC. When I travel, I have all my maps with me with all the important locations marked with pushpins. I wouldn't travel without them!

"Helpful", I traveled to Greece last month and visited Santorini and Crete. The program was helpful but it would have been better if it showed the roads in those islands. I was able to trace my routes which made it useful on the way back. I still recommend the program.

"Useless for Eastern Europe!!", Microsoft AutoRoute Europe 2007
I purchased this product specificly for Slovakia & The Ukraine. They don't show any roads in these areas. The description led me to believe that Microsoft had improved these areas. I've used Microsoft Streets since its inception, and I was very disappointed to see what a poor job they did with the Europe version.

"AutoRoute", I am no fan of dictatorial monopoly companies. But this software is so good that it overcomes my dislikes.

"Good product", I have been using AutoRoute for 6+ years and find it to be a great program for finding hotels and directions in Europe. Each year the countries covered expands, just wish it was faster into Russia. I find it a invaluable when I am driving in countries where I have a limited knowledge of the language. The GPS and verbal directions are a great help.

"Fantastic map program..", If you plan on traveling to Europe ..you need this program. Provides you with all the details for hotels, sites, everything. Will save you so much trouble having all the details if you're planning on renting a car.
