"TurboTax Premier Investments 2006 ", IRS was calling my parents for me NOT filing on time, i did not owe any money but you HAVE to file anyway. i bought this software, loaded it up, and it picked up many of my investments' interest, dividends and my W-2 automatically online. this made things very easy. i printed it out, sent it USPS Certified to the IRS. the whole process took about two or three days, you see i am a procrastinator, hence the IRS calling me AND my family.
Bottom line, if you are buying this particular version, the IRS might be calling you already. i bought it and was VERY happy, i bought the 2007 (tax year 2007) version also but downloaded it so it would be that much faster.

"saved me from the tax man...thank you...", I was behind in filing due to selling some stock and not knowing how to figure it all out. This will do everything it says it will provided you know how to answer the questions...not always as intuitive as a novice might need...but still worth it as now my taxes are done and I know I am sitting pretty!

"Do Yourself A Favor - Use TurboTax!", I absolutely HATE doing taxes, but I also hate paying someone big bucks to do them for me. This program keeps me from tearing my hair out during the agonizing process of doing my taxes. I highly recommend it!

"turbo tax", this product it terrible, in other words it sucks.... sorry to have to the one to say it.

"Highly Recommended", Using the Mac version, have used TurboTax for several years, and not only am I saving $800-$2000 per year that my preparer used to charge me, not only am I learning how to be more self-sufficient and about the basics of taxes and deductions, but each year I am impressed with the questions the program poses which usually provide me with deductions that are very valuable ... for example, burglary, education expenses, medical expenses beyond a calculated amount, all have been very legitimately deductible for me and provided me with literally thousands of dollars in increased refunds ... and it occurs to me my preparer never interviewed me about such things in the past when I used to hand my information to him, so really there was no thought going into the deduction process, and advantages were lost. I highly recommend this program. I do not use Windows computers, so I can only speak about the Mac version, which works well. Very good idea to try TurboTax. Premiere Edition is recommended, because it provides many extra features for just about any situation and can eliminate any need to do further research or require professional advice (in my case at least).

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Has some weird bugs", This is my 3rd year doing my taxes with TurboTax.

I encountered some bugs with non-material stuff, but I didn't go and hand-check the entire return so I don't know if there would have been any material bugs that would actually affect the dollar amounts.

The bugs that I encountered were the following:

- When asking me for changes to my address which it imported from last year's return, it didn't provide phone numbers. One of those phone numbers had changed. Later, when doing the state taxes, it asked which phone number I wanted to use. At that time, it provided a choice of the old phone number but didn't allow me to update it.

- It seemed to import all the information from my financial institution OK and it reported the dollar amounts of the net proceeds and cost basis correctly. However, on the worksheet, even though the description said it was a sale of 50 shares, the quantity field said one share.

Little bugs like these make me wonder if all the math being done underneath is OK. I'm also worried that if you run the program in a different order, the results might be different. But who knows? With a cursory check things looked OK.

One thing that I was bummed about was that when entering the buys corresponding to a stock sale it allowed me to enter things in reverse chronological order (and in fact didn't prompt me otherwise) and yet at the end of the program when doing audit checks, it wanted me to reenter the data in chronological order. I didn't bother since it only affected a worksheet.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are no material errors! Unfortunately, it looks like other tax products also have these kinds of weird bugs.

"Much easier than doing them by hand", I've been manually doing my taxes for the last few years. They weren't hard as much as time consuming. Turbo Tax turned an all day project into just a couple of hours

"Beware Mac users--secret e-file bug lurking at end", I bought the Mac version of TurboTax Premier, and I installed it on my Mac with OS 10.3.9. After doing my entire return, I clicked to e-file and received a message saying, "Could not load attribute," This error box gave me the options to continue (which just took me back to the e-file page, which led me to the same error message) or connect to Intuit online support. The Intuit support site said, "This error occurs when attempting to file electronically. If you are connecting through a router, try bypassing the router and filing again. If the error persists, it may be necessary to file by paper. We are currently working to resolve this error. . . . To be notified as soon as we have an answer, click here to sign up."

I don't have the technical know-how to "bypass the router." I also figured that if Intuit hadn't solved the problem by March 26 (the day I was ready to submit my return), they probably weren't going to, even if I were willing to hold onto my return until I'd received word they'd solved the problem. So I ended up mailing in my return. If I'd known up front that I wouldn't be able to e-file, I probably wouldn't bought the program.

"Not as good as last year for international income", This product works just great if you only have income from the US. However, I had income from outside of the US this year, and this software does not handle it well.

In the section for entering non-US income it got caught in some sort of infinite loop where it cycled me through the same pages over and over. The section for entering tax paid to other countries was very confusing and the help sections were useless. I realize that most people won't have to face these sections. But if you have to, be warned.

I am so uncertain that I entered things correctly that I am going to try H&R Block's free online software to see if that works better. Yes, I am going to do my taxes TWICE. I lack that much confidence in this sofware.

"Good", The box was not factory sealed, but the product works fine none the less.
