Others say...
"a good purchase" eh.. i bought this mouse just because of the bf2142 designs it had on and it was the only one on the shelf. Now as a mouse... it's good. I haven't really messed with the weight thing but i'm sure it's helpfull somehow? other then that it's been really good to me and i got it at for like 50bucks at walmart(6months ago?). I probably not gonna buy a new mouse for a long time... or til i decide to go wireless.
"AWESOME Mouse" Not much to say other than this is an AWESOME mouse - best I have ever owned. DO NOT go cordless if you are a serious gamer - use this. Graphics are ok and for the price, you can't go wrong.
"Nice mouse....but.." ...what I didn't like about it was the positioning of the 4th and 5th finger. They would end up being on a slant...half on/half off. After a couple hours of gaming, my hand was sore. For now I am using a standard $10 Microsoft optical mouse where both of those fingers are on the mouse pad..much more comfortable. The ideal comfort mouse is the Microsoft optical ergonomic wireless mouse...except the batteries going dead at the worse moment. I gave it a a middle of the road setting of a 3 stars due to comfort. However when playing Battlefield 2142, it was very nice being able to change the dpi on the fly. The wights were also very nice being able to customize how well it slides over the mouse pad.
"Logitech G5 Battlefield: Good" This mouse works pretty well. I love the changing of sensitivity on the fly during games. The click wheel is a little too sensitive, or its just not grooved enough for a clean scroll every time during a gaming session. The Battlefield logo is probably the reason I got it for so cheap, but I guess I don't ever see it when I'm sitting at the computer ;)
"Great Product" After 3 weeks use, there is no doult that G5 is the best game mouse I have used.

What our customer's say!
"Not Great, Not Bad, Just Mediocre", I picked up a couple of the special edition G5's on the clearance rack. Too good to pass up and I have always been a big fan of Logitech's mice.
The Good ---------------------- Customized weighting of the mouse The feel of the mouse like the Logitech mice of this time is great
The mediocre --------------------- I have never once had the need to adjust the senistivity
The teflon cord is not really a big deal
I think the left button could be more sensitive...
The Bad --------------------- The wheel button is very wonky. Not only for accidentally toggling left and right, but also up and down. If you do not hit it just right... and I think the build quality of this model is subpar so the mechanical part of the mouse is not very solid.
One side button. Not too bad, you can program all the other buttons so a forward function can be in the mix.
Thoughts ---------------------- There are better mice out there (like the final rev of the G5 with two side buttons). Stay away from this one.
"GREAT for gaming", I went from a stock ball mouse (<200dpi@200hz) to the G5 (2000dpi@500hz) and my accuracy in FPS's improved dramatically. The mouse just feels natural in my hand, w/ no buttons you can accidentally push (unlike the G3). The scroll wheel feels very smooth and doesn't skip over weapons when switching. The dpi buttons are useful for lowering sensitivity for menus or sniping. I thought the weight cartridge was a gimmick, but increasing the weight by up to 50% actually makes a difference (I play at max weight/sensitivity: 146g/2000dpi). I'd recommend the G5 to anybody: it's very precise, has very responsive buttons, feels like it can last forever under heavy use, and looks pretty cool to boot.
"G5 Gaming Mouse", Well if you are looking at purchasing a G5 then you probably know all the Pros. The only Con that I can think of is that there is no Forward Button, only a Back. They fixed this in a later version of the mouse. Overall its an amazing mouse and is definitely worth the money.
"G5 vs Diamondback 3G", Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse: Battlefield 2142 Edition VS Razer Diamondback Earth Green
First of all, I own these 2 wonderful mice, they are currently both plugged into my pc and share a single mouse pad. I can use whichever one I want at will and their drivers do not conflict which is good. Now I can write an objective and unbiased review of them to help users decide.
First I would like to identify an error in the specifications. According to Amazon this G5 has USB Report Rate: 500 reports/second; The G5 software actually goes up to 1000 reports/second which is the same as the 3G. I cannot remember what the G5 packaging had with regard to the usb polling rate so maybe somebody could verify that for me. Since this is a contrasting review I will only point out differences
G5 Pros: 1.) 2000 dpi. 2.) DPI meter built into mouse so you always know what dpi you are using. 3.) Adjustable weights, although the G5 is already heavier than the 3G. 4.) Cord is shrouded with nylon which makes it truly non-tangle and non-stick. 5.) Side button easily reachable which is good for combat.
G5 Cons: 1.) Only 1 side button. 2.) Scroll wheel tilts if you do not press it exactly straight down, this is kind of a nuisance because many times when you press the middle mouse button it also pushes it to the right for right tilt action. Not a problem if you normally press your scroll button with your middle finger but I use my index finger so I had to get accustomed to pressing it straight down. After a while you get adapted to pressing the button correctly so this is not a major con however it is worth mentioning. 3.) Software takes up plenty more memory than the 3G software.
3G Pros: 1.) Ambidextrous. 2.) It lights up nicely. (I don't care about this but some people do). 3.) Better scroll wheel action because it does not have tilt wheel functions. This is more of a trade off because I prefer the tilt wheel even though it takes some getting used to. 4.) 2 side buttons (2 buttons on each side). 5.) Software uses less memory. Also it spans multiple processes so a resident module automatically loads or unloads the user interface (system tray icon). In a way this is more efficient because it frees up some memory if the mouse is not plugged in.
3G Cons: 1.) Nobody knows what a 3G infra-red sensor really is, so this could be just a marketing ploy to make you think it is superior somehow. 2.) Razer claims the cord is non-tangle but it is regular plastic cord that comes with any cheap mouse so I don't know why they claimed that as a feature of their mouse. 3.) 2 side buttons are joined which is stupid because you have to think about it too much to figure out which button you want to press. Worthless if your survival depends on it you might press the wrong side button. The new blue G5 with 2 side buttons is better because you can subconsciously feel the 2 separate buttons and use the correct one without thinking. 4.) New self praised 3G technology came out later than the G5 and it does not even match the DPI, instead you only get 1800 DPI. 5.) You have to press a button and scroll the wheel to adjust the sensitivity and it does not have a display on the mouse so you have to rely on a meter that shows up in the right side bottom of the screen. This may not even display correctly while you are playing a game. Worst part is that it goes from 1 to 10 so you have to do maths to figure out the exact DPI. How hard was it to display the actual DPI figure instead of putting 1 to 10 which means nothing without you having to calculate the actual DPI. 6.) Razer exaggerates on features like the lights on the sides of the mouse which is really too dim to help you identify the side buttons. 7.) Razer makes useless features like Gold-plated USB connector which does absolutely nothing to enhance performance but commands extra cost for no logical reason. Gold plated contacts are better for increased conductivity but why would you need that on the entire USB connector that has such a large surface area. Gold plated contacts are only beneficial in situations where you have small connectors like the pins on ram modules etc. Razer is playing you for your money with such wasteful features.
"Outstanding mouse", This is my first mouse upgrade in 3 years. It is just fantastic. It feels comfortable and work great with games. I highly recommend it.

"GREATEST MOUSE EVER", After purchasing this mouse I can honestly say my fraggin of my enemies has increased dramatically. Having a mouse that can keep up with your movements is something of a beauty and I only wished I had invested in one earlier in my gaming career.
"Awesome gaming mouse!", The best Logitech mouse I have used. The weights are a real nice touch as well as the wrapped cord. The mouse looks great but I'm also a hardcore Battlefield player. Highly reccomend for anyone serious about FPS games as the on the fly dpi switching really makes a differance.
"Great Product", I have two of these mice, one is the original, and then I purchased this 2142 Edition for my brother. Both have been through some intense gaming and have shown no negative effects from it. The only issue I can really complain about is that the software seems a little cheap and takes up more memory than it should. Overall you cant beat this mouse for its price.
"Excellent Mouse", Very fine mouse indeed. There is a newer version of G5 available, with an extra button, but this older version of G5 serves me very well, both in common tasks and in gaming. It is very precise and moving the mouse is smooth. I added a few grams of weight by the weight cartridge.
"still the best gaming mouse", I have no comment about the battlefield 2142 edition design but this mouse itself is still the best gaming mouse for now. The review with the person who got it DOA it happens and thats bad luck. That review is credible, the one about the person who couldn't even get it to work with battlefield don't blame the mouse. It has 3 DPI settings which u can switch with buttons on the fly, weights, non slip grip, Teflon feet, durable cable that doesn't get stuck what more do you want. I am going to buy another one soon, I hope it does get beat (competition makes everything better/cheaper) so they come out with something even better but until then this is the best.
