"Kill my computer"
I used bit defender 10.0,on an old computer, but still working. It detected 7 viruses, but also the ordi shut down by itself during the process, and as never work since.I contacted Bit Defender custumer service, and talk to someone from "Roumania" ,with great difficulty to comunicate, and who ultumately was no help.So i personally cannot give a good rating .

"One of the most efficient anti-virus programs availible"
Bitdefender is amazing. I have been using it now for nearly a month. It works with windows vista (when you get the download). It also uses very little memory to stay active. Updates itself automatically, often times you don't even know its updating. I would recommend this product to others.

"Molasses"
At work they recently switched us from McAfee to BitDefender 10. Everyone in my departement clearly saw their computers slow down during the switch. It is quite frustrating.

"Be careful with this item,"
I installed this item and the Bit Defender locked up my computer and made it very difficult to access the internet, email, etc, similar to the way AOL also locks itself into your computer and makes using the computer difficult to enjoy, at best. I had to take the computer to a local ISP technician to clean the computer of all the Bit Defender files and folders. It was a $150 lesson and I would not buy Bit Defeneder 10 again, or trust the Bit Defender company products.

"Protects Your Computer Like Tulsa Time Capsule Protects 1957 Plymouth"
Hands down the worse product I have seen in quite some time. Of course, if the rapid pace of life is leaving you flustered and needing to take the time to smell the roses, this is perfect for you. Rest assured that you will be thinking it's the slow-paced 1980s as your computer struggles to start up or launch programs. Nano-seconds will become leisurely coffee breaks, all thanks to Bit Defender's ability to decelerate what was once a fast computer. It has just one more little flaw (in addition to incompatibility with that unheard of word processing program "WordPerfect"), it protect the computers from you more effectively than from viruses. You might as well put your computer into the Tulsa time capsule with the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere; when reopened, it will be as ruined as the rustbucket the Plymouth turned into.

What our customer's say!

"Several annoying problems", We experienced several annoying problems with this product which we had on a number of PCs. The most important was that on several computers we suddenly got a message that the license had expired and the product would no longer run. This was without any prior warnings. On closer inspection of the logs , the AV definitions had stopped updating about a month prior to the product stopping. The expiration dates seemed to be correct, it just didn't display any warning ahead of time that the licenses was going to expire. In addition we have had some false positives during the system scan, and on one system in particular even though we have added the problem subdirectory to the exclude list, the system still finds a file in that subdirectory every week and quarantines it. To compound things, when it does this, most of the time it screws up the AV data base update, and it will not longer update the AV definitions until you reboot the machine.

We are moving to Kaspersky.

"Good Product.", Works great. Easy to install and unlike other spoiled Antivirus packages
don't give you 3 more expensive options as much as saying that their first 2 aren't that good. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Joe

"Much much better than Norton/Symantec", I replaced my Norton System Works with this. The scans are much faster, it doesn't take forever to open an Email. It updates itself behind the scenes and doesn't take over my PC. And, it does a great job of catching stuff.
I couldn't be happier. Also note that you can put it on 2 pc's! I have it on my desktop and my notebook.

"BitDefender Antivirus 10.0", Seemed to be very complicated to use. Too much hassle with the spyware feature. Finally gave us and abandoned usage.

"First impressions", I recently uninstalled a "well-known" anti-virus program because I thought my PC was infected with viruses (it was doing strange things - see last paragraph). I now have BitDefender Antivirus v10 - Build 247. Although I haven't had any viruses picked up, my PC, which runs on Windows XP Home, has been working better than ever - perhaps the previous anti-virus program was the problem in itself. It boots up faster and works faster even though I have a dial-up connection. It's not working as hard either (I have a Pentium processor - by the way, make sure your vents are dust-free). The reason I wanted to post so soon is that after BitDefender installation I did have a problem mentioned by another reviewer - at first it didn't seem that Internet Explorer 7 was going to work - it just seemed to hang there running. I'm not sure if that's because I had uninstalled another product or not. Anyway, I left it run a while and then rebooted twice (including a complete shut-down); and everything has been fine since. I am extremely pleased so far.

I did find that getting to the "knowledge base" was a little difficult on the BitDefender website, but choosing the right product finally got me there. Once I had some direction on how to schedule a scan, I really like the BitDefender interface. I also like how the little "File Zone" window tells you what is going on. I could never tell what my previous program was doing.

I had been getting stack overflow messages, problems disconnecting my dial-up, and mysterious shut-offs (which could have been dust-related as previously mentioned). Most of this occurred after upgrading from IE6 to IE7. Whatever the reason, IE7 is now running well with this product; and the accelerator seems happy, too. (FYI - I'm also running Spy Sweeper, and it seems to do well with BitDefender.)

"Customer Service is an advantage. Sort of.", BitDefender is the only brand of Anti-Virus I found which offers "free" telephone Customer Service. That's the good news. The bad news is BitDefender interfers with my email delivery so I had to disable parts of the software to be able to get my emails. Customer Service is limited and their "solutions" have involved cryptic instructions. Bottom line: after better than a month I still don't have a fully-working BitDefender.

"Best Anti-Virus product I have ever used...", ...and I have used a lot of them. It isn't bloat ware that makes your computer come to a screeching halt when it is working, unlike those other 'MAJOR' anti-virus programs. Also consider that this has a TWO YEAR LICENSE for TWO COMPUTERS for under $40. You just can't find that kind of deal with the other products. If you need Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, this is the product for you. Trust me...I've been a professional computer technician since 1993. I haven't used a better A/V product in all of that time. Buy this!

"Nothing special", Bought it to save a few bucks, get what you pay for. Anti virus seems fine but having trouble with the firewall and Windows Networking. Had to switch back to Windows Firewall to print or share files between two computers. Customer Support asked for copies of files but have not responded since. System seems to run slower too. Liked Trend Micro pc-Cillin Internet Security much better

"Excellent Product, No Support", Good news: BitDefender found a dormant worm in a deleted email on our PCs that Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2007 missed. Also, BD has very little impact on our systems or applications speed, which is why we uninstalled NIS - we had 8 months left on the Norton 3-PC license but our two older PCs (4 & 5 yrs old) had slowed down due to NIS so much that they were practically unusable. The hourly BD updates are almost unnoticable.

Bad news: when we installed BD on the 2nd PC (2-PCs for 2-yrs license), we made the mistake of using my spouse's email and passwd instead of mine, which we had used on the 1st PC. Bad move. It had trouble starting, and modules were erratically turning on and off. We logged into the BitDefender site and found that the same exact license was registered to two different accounts. We uninstalled it, and reinstalled it using my email and passwd as a 2nd key, and that showed up on my account OK. However, there was no way to delete my spouse's account or key on their website. Her copy still ran funky, but at least it started.

We used the online chat support and they were friendly and asked that we download two tools from their website and provide them sysinfo dumps by email. We did the dumps and sent them as a reply to their follow-up email with the BD trouble ticket # in the Subject. No reply after 3 days. We sent two other queries, one with the ticket # and one without, both explaining that we needed her bad account and key deleted, as there was probably some server license issues going on that were hindering the operation on her PC. Again, no response.

We wound up uninstalling her 2nd copy of my package, and buying a 2nd 2-PC for 2-yrs package. At least those packages via Amazon were about $15 cheaper than a 1-PC for 1-yr CD version directly from SoftWin (BitDefender), so even with the dual CD purchase it is working out to only $16 per yr per PC (NIS was $35/yr/PC). Since we installed her 2nd package using a different email and passwd, and an alias for her name, there doesn't seem to be any key conflicts causing her BitDefender to run whacky.

Sorry for the long-winded comments, but we wanted you to know that if everything goes great, the product is fast, low-resource impact, and finds stuff Norton misses. BUT (big but), if you got a problem, you're on your own, pal! Tech support is zip, nada, zed, zero. Thankyouverymuch.

"Good product, horrible customer support", I have been using the product for a two months. It works very well and has stopped a couple of viruses from affecting my computer. It updates all the time but doesn't slow down the system while doing it. I have used Norton and McAfee, Bit Defender is better than both.

However, the company's customer service is either poor or non-existent. I was having issues with the software and tried to contact the company. First getting ahold of anyone is nearly impossible. I found them to non-responsive and I am still trying to get my issue resovlved.

The product is good but you can get software that works just as well from other providers. I suggest AVG.
