"7 Ports - But Which ones work?"
Well my IPOD Nano (latest Generation) can't sync through it that's for sure now. The other ports are iffy, on XP I'll get the random "boom bing" for no reason but it thinks ports are disconnecting them selves..

I would look for another device.. This isn't a rock solid device or at least with all ports in use it's not.

"Solid Metal Construction .. Works Well"
XP ... no problem here. Blue light is a little bright.
Feels very sturdy ... Can even mount base to wall or desk,
and slide off when necessary. USB cable could be a little longer.

"internittent issues on dell laptop/vista"
i have a printer, ipod, iphone, wireless keyboard/mouse on plugged in to mine, while it's also on the AC power.

this port is very spotty - works great sometimes, other times not at all. i consistently lose my wireless keyboard/mouse until i plug them in to a USB on my laptop.

when i plug in my iphone, i also get popup warnings that 'this device could be faster' asking me to plug the phone in to a usb 2.0 hi-speed port.

not sure if there's anything better out there, but this one definitely isn't cutting it.

"great product"
This Cables To Go 7 port USB hub has worked flawlessly for the past 3 months on my Vista system. I have several printers, a scanner, hard drive and other hardware connected to my computer. It was easy to install and I no longer have to swap USB cables to connect all my devices.

"Nice USB hub"
I brought it mainly to use with my two external 2.5" hard drives. One of which requires a data AND a power cable each plug into a USB port. They work on this HUB without issues. I have also plug a USB mouse and a Wacom tablet into this HUB and they also work nicely.

Same minor issue on this hub as other reviewers. The blue light on top is quite bright. I may consider putting a piece of tape over it to dim it a bit.

What our customer's say!

"Cables to go USB hub", This hub does the job well. I screwed onto the side of my entertainment/pc center and it has helped with my organization of all the USB cables and RF receivers. It feels like it is made to last, but only time will tell. The light is pretty bright, but not so much so that it annoys me.

"garbage", so i bought this device b/c i find that i am running out of usb ports for all the harddrives and what not i've been buying, and i seem to be in the minortiy, but it just doesn't work, everything i plug into it not recognizable by the computer, so figured id put my two cents in

"7Port fast USB Hub", Have not tested every port yet but so far, I really like it! Good idea to include something to hang it with--since this product assumes odd positions and looks like a patient on life support with all those plugs in it! (But many items have short USB cables, so we are wondering just where we would hang it!) In spite of our amusement, I think it is the most attractive hub out there. Some folks think the blue light is a tad too bright but I like it and since I added an energy saver surge protector that turns everything off when my PC shuts down, all is well.

"Frozen components", Bought this for my MacBook Pro so I wouldn't have to keep plugging/unplugging USB ports each time I sat down at my desk. Worked fine at first but a week later, I'm getting pretty much consistent freezes on everything -- mouse, disk, headphone, iPhone connections, the works. Have to plug/unplug each time to make them come back to life. Doesn't work too well for the hard-disk, especially if doing unattended backups or if the iPhone is syncing.

Ever an optimist, I got rid of the packaging so I'll have to eat it. YYMV, but this one's going straight to the electronics recycling center.

Ordered the Linksys 7-port, hoping it'll work better.

"High Quality Hub", I just received this item and I am quite pleased so far. The manufacturer has clearly taken the time and effort to design this hub properly.

Pros:
1. There is PLENTY of space between usb ports, so that you can actually utilize all 7, all the time. With my other cheaper usb 1 hub, you can only utilize 2 or 3 of the 4 ports at a time, since the ports are so closely crammed together.

2. With the AC adapter plugged in, you can plug a usb 2 hard drive into the hub, rather than directly to the computer.

3. The base is nicely designed. It has a nice heft to it, and you can screw it in place, if need be. It also has a nice, polished black finish which is esthetically pleasing.

4. If you are not connecting a hard drive to any of the ports, feel free to hook up your printer, keyboard and mouse to your hub sans ac adapter. Convenient if you are on the road.

Cons:

1. This note is for prospective buyers: the price of this high quality item has gone up an astonishing $13 in just four days. The price is still highly competitive given the features and quality, but still shocking nonetheless. Glad I bought early!

2. the AC adapter plug which connects to the hub itself does not quite fit flush into the hub. A minor nitpick, but a noticeable flaw in an otherwise quality piece of engineering.

"Cables to go 7 port hub", It couldn't be easier. Pluged in power adapter and usb, turned on computer and everything worked great. A printer and UPS are on the hub and working fine.

"has not been reliable for me", I have a lot of USB peripheral items, I kept thinking I was having problems with the peripherals, and would end up replacing them... turns out, it was this sub-optimal design hub. If you are downloading digital media, the intermittent interruptions can corrupt data. And it is just generally annoying to have your keyboard stop working. One thing they don't seem to mention, is that it appears that only one side of the hub is actually powered. My recommendation is to skip this one. This is my only experience with "Cables To Go" brand, but I would not buy any of there other products on the assumption that they are also second rate.

"Beware! Lose your wireless mouse and keyboard", No sooner had this device been installed to replace a 4-port USB hub than I lost my wireless mouse and keyboard. It's, shall we say, hard to do anything with your computer without one or the other. In the course of trying to get things going again, even after removing the device, the problem lingered. When finally mouse and keyboard were working it turned out the off/on manual closedowns of the computer with the main switch had corrupted Office Outlook 2007 files. It took almost three hours on the phone with HP to get Outlook back. Yes, I sent it back for a refund.

"Didn't last 3 months", This USB hub was properly installed on my desk. It failed in 80 days ... I did check it carefully but it's still a dud.

"review", Piece of junk. Did not work at all. Too much trouble to try to return.
