Others say...
"Somebody fed this mouse DECON!!!" However, I'm going to call a spade 'a spade' and just get right to it: the Razer Copperhead is a clean lined, well lighted piece of junk.
I bought the mouse about eight months ago, for a new gaming / media system that I was in the process of building. I got transfered out-of-state for a temporary (6 mos.) job assignment and the whole PC project got put on hold. When I returned, I completed the new system build (complete with a new install of XP (Pro) Media Center Edition). I installed my Panda 2006 Security & Antivirus and Office Pro 2003. I then spent two (2) full days doing broadband updates at Panda, Windows Update, & Office Update. The new system ran like a precision clock, no hint of a fault anywhere. Standard corded (PS2) mouse and wireless USB lazer mouse both performed flawlessly.
So now I remember that slick, new Copperhead sitting across the room on a bookcase shelf. I retrieve it, read all the install data, and install in on my new machine without any problems whatsoever. It ran beautifully as a standard, corded mouse for about sixteen (16) hours that day. I didn't try setting up any buttons and didn't have any games installed on the system yet...but, it still seemed to work great (in Profile 4, the only setting I chose) as a standard use mouse. During this first day, I had shut-down & restarted my new system four or five times without any system or Razer issues. The next day, however, the mouse only lights up (but no lazer emission on the bottom side) and the mouse cursor stays stationary at the center of the LCD display; it will not move. This mouse is dead at all USB ports; my old mice still work fine, everywhere. I've tried the uninstall-reinstall several times and of course went to that FANTASTIC :( support page at the Razer website to get the latest drivers & firmware, but it turns out that my driver CD already had the most up to date versions of both. No luck.
I can't risk fouling up this pristine PC and operating system install for the sake of prooving that this BOZO product is worth a third of the $62 asking price. Maybe I'll just use my standard cordless lazer mouse to avoid system risk and then try to figure out how to convert this Copperhead into a bathroom night light (for the Tidy Bowl Man).
"Good, Bad, and Indifferent" I was really excited to have the Copperhead, and when I first installed the software, that blue glow hypnotized me. What's more, I could see the performance gain instantly--some games I have to turn down the polling rate so I don't sprint circles around the competition. It's even really great for steadiness, working in Photoshop and such: just quickly tap the dpi buttons to get what you want.
Unfortunately, the infrastructure surrounding the Copperhead is not so forgiving. Updating drivers is a bit of a nuisance and prone to bugs. Firmware updates became nigh impossible until I looked in various forums and found tons of users with the exact same problem. After some agonizing "burden of proof" with tech support, they sent me a new Copperhead. I have no idea why hardware would suddenly fail so critically: I've had bad firmware updates that just need to be re-run--they don't brick the unit. But when this happened, I was hosed without a replacement.
I won't buy one again. I'll enjoy what I have. And given the Vista headaches I'm now having with my Lachesis, I don't think the software problems are going to get better for the Copperhead: Razer's probably on to bigger and better things.
"Just a warning for people with big hands" This isn't a bad mouse and the other reviews are accurate for sensitivty, etc
The only real drawback: this thing is tiny
If you have big man hands; you may experience hand cramps trying to hold this thing. I experience pain just trying to curl my fingers in a way that lets me even reach the buttons on the side (they are "under" the side edge and tucked inwards)
If you have little girly hands; than this is a fine gaming mouse
For me; I'm sticking with the logitech series of game mice; they are far more ergonomic for large hand sizes
If you decide you really want a razer branded mouse; try one of the other razer series, some of them are at least medium size (like the lachesis); but the copperheads are the smallest mice I've ever tried (and we have dozens of various gaming mice at my job)
"Razaer Copperhead" The Razer design and construction is quite nice, and the options for controlling DPI, sensitivity, etc via the bundled softare are excellent. Overall its a great product. I gave it four stars because its not quite as comfortable as the mouse it replaced (MS w'less Laser 6000). However, this a gaming mouse that is still pretty comfortable, looks great and works a treat. I am more than happy with the purchase.
"Amazing Mouse" I simply love this mouse. It has everything i could ever want in a mouse for a fair price. Everything works properly and the software was easy to install. I do have a couple complaints. The two left-click and right-click buttons are very long. Im still kinda adjusting now and then for comfort. And the two side buttons on the right hand side are nearly impossible to use, although i do believe they are for left handers. However these are minor complaints that make no difference in the long run. This is the fastest mouse i have ever own. Its just simply amazing and the Teflon feet help make it glide across your desk/mousepad. A feature i found kind of useless is the built-in memory. Im the only one using this mouse so saving different settings like DPI is well....useless :(. And last but not least, the glow! Its pretty birght, and when i turn the lights off its like a bright blue alien light. I know thats kinda silly but this mouse is just that awesome!

What our customer's say!
"Near Endless Use", I've had this mouse for over 2 1/2 years and it finally gave me a reason to go out and buy another one, and the new is going to be the exact same mouse because this thing has been so reliable, so precise, and so quick for me. The middle mouse button appears to have sunk into mouse or has fallen off it's track so I'm gonna be forced to order another one.
Either way, I've never used a better mouse, who needs wireless anyway? This is perfect for gaming and casual computer use.
"Damn nifty.", When my MX1000's charger crapped out, I found myself in the market for a new mouse. Based on reviews I decided to give the Razer a try.
The ergonomics of the mouse are nothing special; the shape is just your classical old-school mouse, and the weight is just a little lighter than I'd like. Since I had been used to using the MX1000, which is pretty much the perfect mouse ergonomically, I had a little adjusting to make. It's a pretty-looking mouse though, with a pulsing blue glow... not that you'll ever be looking at it while using it, but its there. There are two buttons on each side, presumably to give parity to the left-handed audience, as the right-side buttons are all but unreachable for right-handers. The side buttons that I do use feel a little stiff, and I have to compensate by squeezing my ring finger a little to keep the mouse stable when I use them, which would be problematic if I ever used them in games (I don't).
You will immediately notice, however, the great sensitivity and accuracy of the mouse, which is its selling feature... and it delivers on this well. At first it takes a little adjusting on the user's part, but now that I've been using it for a while for surfing the web, playing games etc., I can't imagine going back.
The software leaves a bit to be desired though, installation/uninstallation of drivers can require manual registry editing, which seems a bit clumsy. For some reason my mouse is totally disabled by the newer drivers, so I have to use only those bundled on the CD. Also the mouse can take up to 30 seconds to "wake up" coming out of standby, but otherwise there are no technical issues to speak of.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase and have no difficulty recommending this mouse to more advanced users with specific needs for higher sensitivity and accuracy (mainly gamers). For more basic uses though, you would probably be fine with some cheapo from Microsoft.
"Wrong Mouse", I ordered the copperhead and received the diamondback. A good mouse but not the one i wanted. I didnt return it cause i needed a good mouse in a hurry and i figured it could take another two weeks to get the copperhead.
"Allowed me to take out more dudes", Definitely improved my skills in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 when compared to my USB optical mouse. It wasn't a miraculous quantum leap but it was a definite improvement. My shooting accuracy went from around 20-25% (no, I wasn't real good at Vegas 2 to begin with) with the USB mouse up to around 30-35% on average with the Razer. Also, it takes some tweaking of the settings and a few gaming sessions of test driving to get the mouse just right for you.
I didn't give it 5 stars because I don't totally like the ergonomics of the mouse as much as just a plain old regular Dell or HP standard mouse. The Razer feels too long and low for my hands. Also the right side buttons aren't positioned very well (they're used for changing the sensitivity in-game). Also, $50 isn't exactly a bargain for such a simple device.
Overall, I'm happy with the mouse. Like I said, I became a better, more accurate player(about a 20-30% improvement in my accuracy) in Vegas 2. However, don't expect this mouse to perform miracles.
"average mouse, get the logitech g5 instead!", So I just built my new gaming rig adn got it with this mouse, it's definetly a nice mouse, good feel, good speed, but my brother came home from college with his logitech g5, so i tried it out. I am now the official owner of a logitech g5 and it was a better mouse. The G5 has interchangable weights so you can have the weight you wish for gaming or what not, The g5 is also a bigger mouse so you get a better feel and a better grip on the mouse. So if you can grab yourself the G5 rather than any razer.

"Fast, Accurate Mouse but....", I love the accuracy this mouse provides. The feet work wonderfully with my mouse pad, i feel very little friction (almost like mousing on ice). One of my favorite features is the on-the-fly dpi changer. The side buttons can be clicked to make the mouse move faster or slower on the screen instantly. My only problems with the mouse are: 1 sometimes the drivers freak out, 2 There is no Mac OSX support, and 3 The mouse is a little small for my bear-like-sized hand.
"for pros", im a PG [progamer] in basically everything and this mouse is wicked. i use the sensitivity switch to basically own like all games; e.g. high sensitivity for an FPS while spraying submachines and then swtich when i bust out the sniper rifle to low sensitivity for more accuracy (to leik pwn noobs).
yeah it's a great mouse. plus it looks awesome so all the girls who c u use it are like "omg that's an awesome mouse, u must be PG." so ya i may acutally get a gf now.
one thing i'll add though is that buying this mouse doesn't make you PG. my APM [actions per minute; last estimated around 550] is actually fast enough to feel the 8ms lag on normal mice so this was critical, and im actually PG enough to use sensitivity adjustments powerfully. you guys probably aren't, but at least if you have this mouse people would think there's a nonzero probability of u being PG [becuase all PGs need PG mice like this one]. and plus the fact that the beacon flashes this awesome blue color makes like a totally pro thing to look at in the dark once you've turned off the lights and are going to sleep; i just look at it from my bed in the dark, get totally pumped up, turn the lights back on, bust out MOHAA, pwn noobs, end up going to sleep toly late, and then failing all my exams the next day. it's pretty awesome.
so gg gl hf k thx bye. let me know if u want to play some games sometime [lol jk nub].
"Great mouse, some durability issues", I used this mouse for almost 2 years before it crapped out on me. During that period, it performed like a champ. Before this, I had a cheap $15 kensington, ever since I made the change I will never be able to go back to a standard optical mouse. The tracking and responsiveness on this mouse is unmatched.
The shape of this mouse takes a little getting used to. Its symmetrical design is meant to cater to both left and right handers, so it may feel awkward at first. It's also somewhat small, and thus not meant to be completely palmed. However, once you adjust it'll feel perfect and facilitate great fragging!
The buttons on the right of mouse are a little hard to access, but still usable. On-the-go sensitivity (5 dpi settings) is a big plus. Oh, and it looks awesome!
Unfortunately this mouse developed serious issues after almost 2 years. One day it just started randomly disconnecting/reconnecting itself every few minutes, which presented an intolerable problem while gaming. I tried several troublshooting techniques (reinstalling/updating drivers and firmware, reconnecting/resetting the mouse, etc.) to no avail. Ultimately, I purchased a Deathadder (also a great mouse!) as a replacement.
Overall, this mouse is a solid performer, but for the price I expected it to last me more than 2 years.
"Great Mouse", Liked this mouse so much, I purchased a second one for the wife. I use mine for FPS games and it is great.
"Razor Copperhead Left Button Double-clicks Often", This is the coolest looking mouse I've ever owned. It has extremely smooth movement and accurate control. Software is first rate. The one star because when I left click, it usually double clicks. This, most users will find very annoying. After researching this problem I found it normal for many others. Razor will probably send you a replacement under warranty, but as other users have found, the replacement will soon double click also. If you would like a cool blue pulsing glow "light", it works well for that. If you need a mouse for computer use, look elsewhere.
