What our customer's say!
"Security", I was not happy with this product, it does not do the job. Will not buy again.
"More trouble than benefit", I agree with many of these reviewers. We've had PANDA IS2007 on a laptop & PC (both XP SP2) for the last year, installed by and at the recommendation of our computer repair place after our PC crashed due to major malware infestations last fall.
PANDA is probably pretty good at detecting & dealing with viruses, malware, intrusions, etc. but the program can develop major glitches without warning. Then you're stuck trying to use the lame support section on their website (Note to PANDA: get some literate, native English speakers to double-check your English-language instructions & info) or, worse, trying to deal with tech support.
My record with PANDA tech support on several major issues (where software wouldn't update, where wireless didn't work, where net security was suddenly imposed out of nowhere thus locking me off the internet with no way of knowing the password at first, technical questions about renewal & upgrades) ranged from no response whatsoever on one of them to an average of 24 - 36 hours for email responses. I might note that tech support's email responses can be of questionable literacy too, making it hard for you to understand what advice they are providing. In contrast to their flaky tech support, PANDA's marketing department blankets you with emails. I would say I've had close to one a day since early July for renewal dates in early October. Also, in this last month of our licenses, PANDA has added an additional marketing pop-up that shows up every time you boot up.
The last straw may have come when I finally understood (after 2-3 days of exchanging mails with tech support) that in order to renew & upgrade to PANDA IS2008, I have to UNINSTALL the existing PANDA & then download & install the new one. That's ridiculous, IMO, and we'll probably be junking the PANDA. In this day and age there is no reason for a security program to have to be uninstalled in order to upgrade it, thus leaving the computer vulnerable. As it happens, our computer repair place now recommends AVG as the best AV program, so assuming I make it through the UNinstallation process for PANDA (which can apparently be bad, judging from my google search), that's what we'll be using.
Attention PANDA: You probably have a good product but until you get your act together regarding tech support & making your product more user-friendly, I can't recommend you to anyone who isn't fairly computer-literate.
My ultimate solution? Our next computer will be a Mac.
"Great AV with the worst tech support imaginable...", Panda has the most astonishingly bad tech support I have ever encountered. If you do get a response from them, it could be weeks or months later. Their AV technology is really great--I am convinced that Panda provides some of the best AV and spyware protection--but the nearly nonexistent support means I'll "just say no" to Panda next time. If I could give it a "four and a half stars" for protection, and a "minus two" for support, I would.
P.S.: 1. You'll probably need support once in a while, as the install can be buggy, and the program occasionally (though rarely) acts up, 2. the program updates at the most inopportune times without notification even though it has been set to inform you when it is updating, and, 3. And perhaps worst of all, this program absolutely refuses to uninstall, even via add/remove programs and CCleaner.
By the way, I am writing this review offline in notepad, so I can go online and post the review without spending much time online and unprotected, since my Panda is currently unusable. I'll be installing AVG's free AV shortly (I've used it at work, and no problems).
"Excellent Security Suite", I've used Panda Internet Security Suite for about four years now. I've had very good luck with the installation of the product and it does not seem to bog down my programs. Once you properly set up the program, it hums along pretty good. I've had good experience with their technical support. When I had a problem, they answered me in a couple of days at most. I notice that Consumer Reports in their September 2007 magazine does not even list Panda. That both surprised and disappointed me. I recommend Panda Internet Security Suite 2007 (recently upgraded to Version 2008).
"Easy to Use", After using Norton for YEARS, I bought their "Personal" safe. It locked up my laptop until I wanted to cry. I had to FORMAT my hard drive to remove it! The "removal tool" they gave me wouldn't even get it off. After removal I shopped on Amazon.com for a new virus protection. A lot of the programs have trouble with Windows XP or one of their "updates". This not only loaded without a hitch, it didn't slow my computer down even when running in the back ground. And believe it or not it cost me less than [...] AND had a license for THREE computers, un-real! I wouldn't know about customer service because I haven't had a problem with my desktop computer or my laptop.

"Never worked.", This software only got one star because I couldnt give it a zero. It never worked on my Windows XP computer. I couldnt open the program, couldnt close it, couldnt get the sytem to shut down. After a hard shutdown, Windows would not start. Tech support couldnt figure out the problem. I uninstalled Panda, reinstalled Norton and system is working fine. I would not recommend.
"STAY AWAY FROM PANDA...", I bought this 1 week ago at a local Staples.. The box makes it sound like the solution to all your problems.. It also says they offer tech support 24 X 365..
Sounds great.... the problem is..it will not install on my computer. I keep getting a message to remove NORTON ANITVIRUS before I can install Panda. I removed NORTON and it no longer can be found thru control panel, remove software or thru a search of my hard drive.
PANDA still will not install. I keep getting the same message. UNINSTALL NORTON.
So I tried to contact tech support per the box. I found out they offer tech support 24 x 365 via email. I have sent 3 emails in a week and have received no response.
Bottom line is I have a product I cannot use.. TECH SUPPORT does not exist. It deserves 0 stars in my book. Spend your money somewhere else.
"A good internet security solution", I upgraded to Panda Internet Security 2007, Platinum Edition (I'll just refer to it as "Panda" hereafter), from Trend Micro's PC-Cillin suite after a recurring issue forced me to make a decision. I had had good experiences with Trend and was loathe to change, so changing was not something I really wanted to do. After checking my options and doing some research, I decided to give Panda a chance.
Panda's installation was a bit sluggish but it was not unreasonably slow. It did all of the prerequisite checks before configuration and finally it determined that it was ready to install itself. The installation at this point was smooth and straightforward and when it was done it (understandably) asked me to reboot the system.
Once the system rebooted, I was off to the races. Panda immediately started to look at programs that were trying to access the network, it flagged me down when I had incoming port scan attacks, and it dutifully logged everything going on. It also did something else - it started giving pop-up bulletins. Within 30 minutes I must have received 3 or 4 pop-up bulletins that contained informational messages, not alerts that demanded attention. While these can be configured to not show up, I was just a little annoyed by the frequency under the default settings. These bulletins have decreased since that time.
Panda's first order of business was to eliminate everything it considered to be spyware. This equated to deleting a lot of cookies. Most of these were benevolent, but some were obviously tracking cookies. Panda also seems to be eliminating these types of things when they first reach the system, which in my opinion is a good policy.
The firewall does what you would expect a firewall to to - it keeps unwanted traffic out and it prevents programs from reaching the net without your knowledge or approval. A program can be "locked down" and denied all access, and through the firewall profile you can make changes and tweaks to access.
I did some testing with the antivirus, and it worked relatively quickly to scan the entire system. I was able to tell it to work in the background with reduced CPU requirements and as a result the system did not slow down enough to make it unusable. As of yet it has not found a virus on the system so I just don't know how it will react to one when/if it finds one. My assumption is that I will get another pop-up bulletin.
The integrated antispam has yet to prove itself. I use a different antispam product, but Panda still does an evaluation on every inbound message. So far it seems to be properly marking messages as spam or not spam by the footer it places at the bottom of every message, but the other product I use has done the bulk of the work already. I am waiting to see how Panda handles spam messages that slip through the gauntlet and into my inbox. What I have seen thus far suggests that it will probably manage well enough. The antispam does integrate with Outlook automatically and gives a couple of new buttons for classifying spam when it comes.
By default, the parental control feature is turned off, and I decided to turn it on. This is one of the features of Panda I don't especially like. It manages access through the parental controls by way of profiles with passwords. So, when you have an internet connection and you have parental controls turned on, Panda requires a password just to get out the net at all. Granted, this is only required one time for the connection, but it is cumbersome and annoying. This type of set-up is not well-suited for family computing but is better for office and academic environments. After testing it for a little while and determining that it seems to work fairly well, I turned it off to avoid getting chastised by my family. I would likely use this more if there was a way to tell it to filter the same way for everyone without requiring a password.
Panda queries for updates daily. This is reassuring to me, knowing that I am almost always very current and have the latest signature files. I regard this as mostly psychological though, as I doubt I will ever encounter a virus that is new enough to require this tight of an upgrade schedule. The heuristic scan feature of the antivirus is likely to handle anything like that anyway.
One of the more interesting features of Panda is the TruPrevent functionality. Basically, this is a behavioral analysis of applications and processes on the system, which looks for unusual or suspicious activity. So far this has turned up nothing on my system, but it is reassuing to know it's running in the background. This kind of analysis should be used cautiously, though, as there is always a potential for false positives.
Visually, Panda is a very simple and straightforward application with a no-nonsense interface. You are not going to be overwhelmed with buttons and sliders and lists and everything else all jumbled on the screen in one big box, but rather everything is kept as simple as possible. Sometimes this means having to dig a little to find the setting you need, but honestly I think the interface is reasonably self-explanatory.
The most difficulty I had with Panda was in registering the product. I got a pop-up bulletin that offered a discount if I registered then, and I had already made my mind up to do so, so I followed the offer link. I was taken to a page all in Spanish (this is not entirely unexpected as I believe that Panda is based in Spain). I manageed to reach the English equivalent page, entered the requisite information and the website returned a very short error message. I got through several hours later and got through the registration process, only to find that I was sold the wrong product from the link. To resolve the issue I had to call their office and work it out on the phone.
With only a couple of minor annoyances and one registration issue, I have had a very positive experience with Panda. The application is not overly burdensome to my computer, it seems to be very quick and efficient, and it has kept me informed of issues as they arise. I consider this a good solution and I am happy to recommend it.
"Amazing!", Purchased this a while ago and recieved it yesterday.
Reason? My computer was moving much slower than it used to. Mcafee scans my computer everyday, and doesn't find anything, yet it was fully updated. I had a feeling it wasn't working.
When I installed this thing, I scanned it right away. This is what it found:
Viruses: 67
Spyware: 312
Adware: 51
After the scan, everything was deleted and my computer ran like new again. I am very pleased with Panda's software and will purchase again if needed.
