"sucks, not same buttons"
not same buttons as n64, so pretty lame.

I was really hoping to play some ocarina of time on it.

"Nicely made. Underutilized."
I quite like this controller, maybe not as much as the gamecube controller (which is one of my favorite controllers ever made) but it's still pretty damn good. My only real complaint is the lack of compatibility with my Wii games. I understand the Wii is supposed to be focused on motion sensing but if I don't want the waggling gimmicks I shouldn't be forced to play that way, I thought that was the point of the classic controller. Even in Twilight Princess, a game that was also on the gamecube, you can't use a gamecube or a classic controller to play it on the Wii. It doesn't make sense that a game that was also programmed for play with a gamecube controller can't be played with one on the Wii, but I digress...

"This controller works great!! Brand new!"
I got this controller when i had my Wii and it worked great, brand new, great price!!! Hope this helps you!!!

"Your in Control"
Works better than the old style. I cant wait for some vintage games to come out so I can see what this bab can really do.

"A good product, that suffers from poor support"
I bought the Classic Controller when I decided to buy titles from the Wii Shop Channel. The controller itself is good quality, the size is good, and the buttons are nice and clicky. You have to plug it into the Wii remote to use it, but that isn't such a big deal.

The one complaint I have with the Classic Controller, is in part a complaint I have with many Wii games. Despite the multitude of physical controller types compatible with the Wii, the customization of the controls in-game leaves quite a bit to be desired. All of the games I've played force you to use the analog stick for character control, when the controller itself is set up to prioritize the D-pad for control. Were it not for this one oversight on Nintendo's part, I would have given the Classic Controller 5 stars.

If you're planning to play any games for the Virtual Console, or any games that look like they'd utilize a more classic control type, opt for the Classic Controller. Just be prepared to hold the controller a little sideways, so that you can use the left thumb stick without the controller slipping out of your hands.

What our customer's say!

"Weird button layout", The controller works like it should but it is annoying that it has to be plugged into the wii remote for it to work. It seems kind of expensive for a simple add-on that has to be plugged into another remote.

We played Super Mario Bros. with the controller only to find out that if you want to play two player you need two controllers (even though you switch off turns). One person uses the controller, the other uses the remote. Definitely not buying another one.

Also the button layout is a little weird. On the top there are four buttons in a row instead of two behind the others, like playstation. Also there is no trigger button underneath for N64 games. I understand it is a very "universal" controller but I think it could have been designed a little better.

"Please Don't Buy", I need to start off by saying that this is a review of the controller only and not the seller of it.

This Wii controller is based on a good premise, but it is plagued with design flaws. First the two thumb sticks are way too close together. A lot of the times I find myself smashing my thumbs together when they meet in the middle. The 4 buttons on the side are spaced awkwardly. The two horizontal buttons are further apart than the two vertical buttons are and this makes rapid presses between the four of them harder to get used to (not that it is impossible). The large trigger buttons at the top are the most functional/best thing on the controller. The resistance is good and it "clicks" smoothly. But the smaller trigger buttons on the inside are nothing short of terrible. The button press (or trigger pull) is far too long. It isn't even a variable button either it is just a toggle button, so it doesn't even matter if you pull it just slightly, because it only sends a signal when it is completely pressed down. I can't even explain the final button on the top middle part of the controller. It is absolutely useless. The far most annoying thing about this controller is the total lack of ergonomics. With Microsoft coming out with some of the most comfortable controllers, why is it that Nintendo felt that they should take a step in the opposite direction and actually make a controller that is comparable to the first controllers ever? The controller has a weak plastic feel and it is uncomfortable to play for extended periods of time (a carpal tunnel syndrome warning should be printed on the controller).

Take this seriously: if you need/want a 'standard-style' controller for your Wii then just go with the previous Game Cube controller. It was a far better design and is even cheaper to buy than this newer (yet older design) model. It also works on the Nintendo Wii with no upgrade or parts necessary. Stay away from this controller!

"Classic is always classic", I got this controllers to that my friends wouldn't whine all the time playing Smash Bros. Thats really the only reason I got them.

"Owner of both Classic and Wavebird Controllers!", I do own both the classic and wavebird controllers. I can see where people would not like the classic controller, but here is the thing. I enjoy playing older games via Virtual Console and the classic works great. NES and SNES games are a perfect fit. N64 can be a little iffy compared to the Wavebird. Basically ask yourself this. Do I enjoy playing 2D games? If the answer is yes this is a must buy. The recent release of Mega Man 9 has kept this controller in my hand constantly. The D-Pad is the Nintendo perfect and the button layout is comfortable. The cheap price is also a plus. Sure the cord is a little anoying, but your not sitting 5 feet away from your tv like back when we used to play the NES.

"An Affordable Convenient Controller That Works Great", After I got My Nintendo Wii I started downloading virtual games from the wii shop channel but the only problem was some of the older games didn't seem to work to well with the remote buttons or the gamecube controller. Than I saw this and for the price I decided to try it out and I am both ecstatic and satisfied at how well it plays. The controller hooks into the wii remote where the nun-chunks usually connect to and the response time is great just like the wire-less Xbox 360 controller there's no lagging on the button commands. You'll not need the controller to much with the old Nintendo games but more with the Super Nintendo, Sega, and N64 games instead. The one thing I also like about this controller is that it's small and easy to hold and while it might feel delicate it is pretty durable so don't worry to much about button mashing during game play. So if you're like me and are downloading a lot of the old games I say this is the perfect controller to play those games with.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"wii controller", We ordered this Wii classic controller to have another one on hand for when my childrens friends come over to play the wii games...the design of this controller is different than our other one and makes it easier for them to maneuver in some of the wii games. Excellent purchase.

"Works fine, but a little small!!", Just needs to be more like the Gamecube controller and that would make it perfect.

"Wii Classic controller", This controller works great, especially with Mario Cart. My kids (ages 7 & 10) had trouble using the steering wheels that came with the game. They have been using the classic controller since and have improved on their game skills.

"Perfect for Virtual Console and other games", This controller is an excellent wii accessory. It is styled similar to the SNES controller, but with two new analog sticks in the middle. I use it for Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and the Virtual Console games from the Wii Store. I couldn't be happier with it.

"This thing is worthless garbage.", I bought this so-called "classic" controller because I wanted another controller for Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I hate the stupid poorly designed Gamecube controllers, with the L and R buttons that have to be pressed down two inches to have an effect. So I go to the local big box store and pick up a so-called "classic" controller. I open it, and the thing does not plug into the console. It plugs into the Wiimote! So I've paid $20 for no extra controller. And I can't take it back because it's been opened. And the packaging says nothing about plugging it into the Wiimote. The idea that there should three or four separate control schemes for a single console is ridiculous. There was a time when one whole controller came in a box, and all the peritent details about said controller came on the outside of the box.

The fact is that the only reason to get this is to play VC games. No virtual console, dont get this stupid thing. Getting the stupid GameCube controller will at least give you another whole controller.
