"Love the transfer to Blu-ray, The extra features make it worth it"
I picked up this with Dragon's Lair on Blu-ray and I played them both on my Playstation 3.

I wasn't able to play the arcade version of this game. It was just not around in the arcades that I went to. However it was one that I have always wanted to play/own.

Again, the extra features make this version of the game worth owning. I love seeing the creators talk about their work and what they did to accomplish it. They actually used stop motion and live action shots in this game. Amazing.

The previews under features gives you access to 2 playable levels one from Dragon's Lair and one from Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp.

You get 3 levels of difficulty instead of the 2 that were listed for Dragon's Lair, as well as other options that were not available. Such as there is a widescreen and original option as well as subtitles that were not offered in the Dragon's Lair Blu-ray.

The comparisons to other versions of this game over the years is a nice added feature as you can see how much better this version looks on your HDTV.

I am glad to add this title to my collection, and I can't wait for Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp to come out on Blu-ray so I can pick that one up as well.

Why I buy this one ?
- Supplements in full 1080p/MPEG-2, with optional English, French, Spanish, Italian and German subtitles
- Interview (HD, 5 minutes) - Basically a coda to the picture-in-picture track (see HD Exclusives below), Bluth, Goldman and Dyer give a wider overview of 'Space Ace's reception, it's place in the arcade animation trilogy shared with the 'Dragon's Lair' games, and how they still receive mail about Ace from fans
- Demonstration Reel (HD, 3 minutes) - a restoration demonstration, using split-screen to compare the new Blu-ray remaster with past video releases
- Previews - video trailers for 'Space Ace,' 'Dragon's Lair,' and the upcoming (but as yet unscheduled) 'Dragon's Lair II - Time Warp.'
- Video Commentary (HD) - a picture-in-picture interview with Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, and Rick Dyer, who appear together in a PIP box in the top right corner. They narrate the complete 24-minute game as if it was a stand-alone short film (no interruptions for gameplay, etc.) They cover the gestation of the project as an immediate spin-off from 'Dragon's Lair,' but with the emphasis on upping the pace and speed of the game, as well as the voice talent, animation, and eventual success of the game

What our customer's say!

"Space Ace is almost a perfect arcade port and then some...", I don't know what people are talking about Space Ace not working on their PS3 systems. It works perfectly on mine and I can play all modes with no problems. Wonder if this is a PS3 "version" issue. I have the 60gb system and it works great.

Space Ace was one of my favorite classic cartoon laser disk games back in the 80's and I have forever been looking for a perfect home version of the game. This is by far the best home converion of the game. The quick "cut to black" pause breaks on some of the moves (or death scenes) are the same as the original laser disk game if not even shorter than the original.

I have played Space Ace on many older platforms such as a Sega CD, 3D0 and PC versions and all of them had issues that didn't quite make it a perfect port. Sometimes a level would be missing, or the moves for a level were changed or the graphics/animation frames looked terrible and not up to par to the actual Arcade game that I loved long ago. This blu-ray release is as close as I have ever seen Space Ace be converted to the home. All the moves are the same as the original arcade. This is a big thing that I look for in the Dragon's Lair and Space Ace home conversions and this one is dead on! Even the correct "beep" or "boop" for correct and in-correct moves SOUNDS the way it is supposed to sound from the arcade cabinet. Many past versions of the game had different "beep" sounds and weren't the same sound as the arcade game had. The latest Blu-ray Dragon's Lair game doesn't have the correct "beep" sound for correct moves. Glad they fixed that for this release.

The new cleaned up and restored picture is actually better than the original arcade cabinet version. The colors are more vibrant and the overall picture is a lot cleaner. They even show you a split screen comparison of all the versions of the game to the blu-ray release which is interesting. You are actually getting a better version of Space Ace than the original in many ways.

The ability to pick from the three different difficulties, Cadet, Captain and Ace (which unlocks new levels or flipped screens) is also here in this release and was often not available in all versions of the game. Other nice touches are the options to have the game in Widescreen 16x9 or the original 4x3 (older square-ish TV resolution size) viewing modes. When playing in widescreen the picture gets cropped to fit a letterbox frame since the original game was intended for a 4x3 size. I prefer to view it in a 4x3 format so not to lose out on some of the picture.

The creator commentary is also a great and welcome addition and it goes on for longer than the game footage lasts (even with the death animations included) and the feature repeats to include all the commentary by the creators. Thanks for not cropping it guys.

Overall, if you are a fan of Laser Disk game and especially a fan of Space Ace, treat yourself to one of the best versions of the game with this Blu-ray release and snatch this one up. It will feel like you are back in the arcade again but without the nice red joystick and clicky arcade buttons to match. Maybe it is time for a little mod for this one?

"Space Ace - BLU-RAY", Bought this on the Amiga many moons ago.
This brings back fond memories when we were amazed at the standard of grapics the 16 bit era produced.

This lives up to this and as i missed playing this in the arcade i hope to see the bits probably left out of the Amiga Version.

Top quality, slight graining but then it was originally drawn in the 80's.

Highly recomended.

"i think it doesn't work in PS3", I love this game but in my PS3 the game is obstructed continuosly and i can't finish

"its buggy on PS3", fun game... then the bug comes in. i got it from netflick played on PS3. the response time is a little slow but was having fun until the middle of the game. Black screen and PS3 telling me "invalid disc". basically i could not finish the game.

"Space Ace - Very impressive version ", The high definition remastering of this game is very impressive. I would recommend this to anyone who owns a blu ray player and likes Don Bluth's animation.
