"Needs better earbuds"
This is a good product that could be great with a few adjustments.

First of all, they should be absolutely clear that this only fits the 2nd generation Nano. This will not fit the 1G Nano (the one with the shiny metal back). Also, the earbuds they used are the earbuds that everyone hates. I wish they made this lanyard with the flexible rubber "In-Ear" headphones which fit perfectly. This is available for the 1G Nano, but not the 2G for some reason.

On the plus side, the lanyard is great for exercising. The part that goes around the neck is adjustable and you can run with it on without too much hassle (although I tend to tuck it in my shirt if I am running).

I tried using the Nano armband, but the headphone cables go all over the place when you have it on. Jogging on a treadmill with the armband is a nightmare. On the other hand, cable management is great with the lanyard. You barely notice the cables at all.

"Best Headphones"
I used it and found it's great. It's help me to carry on my Ipod easily. I love it.

"Great for your 2nd Gen iPod Nano"
This is a pretty good item to have for your iPod Nano, 2nd generation. If you walk, do chores, or any other physical activity while you listen to your iPod this is for you.

Lanyard snaps securely into the iPod's dock and earphone connector and the adjustable strap goes around your neck. The all-in-one design includes the apple ear buds. I use it frequently when I do light chores around my Christmas tree farm.

My only complaint is really against the Apple earbuds themselves. They really have only adequate sound and they don't fit into your ears well. I would have given it 5 stars if you could use your own earphones with the lanyard or if Apple improved their earbud design and sound quality.

" It is awesome!"
I use this all the time It makes having an ipod easier.

"Love it!"
I absolutely LOVE this iPod lanyard!! It enables me to keep my hands free to do various activities and tasks while listening to my favorite music. The design also makes accessing my iPod dial very easy. I would highly recommend this product.

"ipod lanyard w/earphones", great product, no long wires hanging down to get caught on something, i bought 4 so i could have extras.

"Not great but the best you can do for a 2G Nano", A good bit of my purchase decision for a Nano was based on seeing my friends with their 1G Nanos on lanyards like this. Based on the date of my purchase and my size needs, I ended up with the 8GB Black Nano 2G.

The lanyard itself is great. I've never had a problem with it coming disconnected unintentionally. It's stylish, especially when combined with a slick looking skin. It'd be nice if it came in black, but the ubiquitous Apple white isn't too shabby.

The earbuds are terrible, however. They do not fit my ears and cause my ears to hurt from the fit. It's practically standard these days for earbuds in this price range to come with multiple sized attachments, for fit customization, but Apple hasn't bothered with that feature for any of their earbuds yet. For the 1G Nano, you have the option of Griffin's TuneBud lanyard (if you can find it now that it's out of production), but for the 2G Nano, you're stuck with Apple's solution.

The only other 2G Nano lanyard option I've found (short of DIY) is the Rivet Grab case and lanyard combo, but that adds bulk and weight to the Nano, plus it doesn't work as well if you have a decorative skin on your Nano.

It seems like a no-brainer for Apple (or someone) to re-make this lanyard with a 3.5mm jack passthrough so that you could use your own headphones with it. Nonetheless, we're on 3G Nanos now, and there still hasn't been an improvement here. I still use this product, but only because there's nothing better out there.

"Great idea, TERRIBLE quality!", Decided that the 4th replacement was the last. GREAT idea, but so poorly made that they only last about 4-6 months before they break (one side or the other looses sound.) Cheaply made, too fragile for constant use. Too bad Apple can't get these right. Maybe that's why they don't make them for the new 3G version! Wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so expensive to start out with!

"Does Not Fit 3G", Unfortunately, this product does not fit the Ipod Nano 3g. It is not designed with the proper spacing. I don't know what generation it does fit, but it was certainly not made for my Ipod.

"Very Poor Product", Purchased lanyard worked for two weeks before one side failed. Very Disappointed do not reccommend 2nd generation lanyard at all.

"Nice but expensive", These are very nice. The thing that kept it at 4 stars is the price.

"Perfect for the Gym", I found this to be the ideal solution for my ipod use. The earbud cords coming off the lanyard are less bothersome than other cord arrangements. The nano is conveniently positioned to change songs or volume. I am very happy with this product.

"Great Accessories", Absolutely recommend this product if your going to purchase an expensive ipod. They keep the ipod from being dropped, scratched, and otherwise damaged. My kids are skateboarders and love that the lanyard gives them a hands free option.

"Pricey Accessory that is Great in the Gym", With Apple's iPod being the dominant player in the mp3 market, there is a panoply of Apple and third-party products to aid its operation. While the sound quality of the included iPod headphones has always been sufficient for my needs, they did not provide optimal placement of the player. Spending most of my mp3 listening time using free weights in the gym, I needed a secure means of carrying my iPod that wouldn't interfere with arm movements. The lanyard was the perfect choice. After hundreds of hours of use with the first and second generation lanyards, I have been rather pleased with both their sound quality and durability.

Given my experiences with other headphones and mp3 players, however, I would suggest two enhancements. First, there should be a means of detaching the iPod mechanically while the headphone jack is still connected. This would require two attachment points and some slack in the audio cable. I previously owned an inexpensive, nameless mp3 player acquired on eBay that has this arrangement. While less durable than iPod-lanyard combo, it offered much greater flexibility. With Apple's lanyard, the iPod placement becomes a hassle during exercises where a straight bar is brought down on the chest, such as bench pressing. With the previous arrangement, I could simply detach the mechanical cable and place the mp3 player in my pocket while still listening to my favorite songs.

Secondly, given my experience with the Koss Spark Plug earphones (see review), I would have preferred better sound isolation. The lanyard headphones do little to stop ambient noise, which is an issue in health clubs. In addition, the lanyard headphones just don't have the deep bass of the Koss product.

Having owned both first and second generation lanyards, I can't determine any difference between their construction or sound quality. In both cases, I paid roughly fifty dollars, which seems a bit exorbitant. However, this is to be expected with most brand-name iPod accessories. If you use your iPod while working out, cycling or walking as much as I do, you are certain to get your money's worth nonetheless.

Pros
Great for use during exercise
Durable

Cons
No non-lanyard mode
Difficult to use during bench press due to bar impact
Little sound isolation
Overpriced

"Great Idea with Apple's Horrific earbuds", I used the lanyard during workouts and while the concept is ideal, Apples' ear buds are terrible. The sound quality is lacking and the Apple's ear buds are notorious for not fitting. The ear buds just kept falling out with every move of my attached 2G Nano. I do not recommend the lanyard for anyone wishing to use theses for exercising.
