"Buy It" This DVD is certainly worth my 5 stars. Great production quality. Great music.
"Pretty good for a band that's been rockin for this long...." The sound quality is a bit screwy at times, mostly in the vocals. I think he may be losing his voice a bit. The band does sound great though and it's pretty entertaining. I was hoping for a bit more of a controlled atmosphere, a little more intimate. But this will do. I've like the Crowes since they came out almost 20 years ago. Pretty good southern rock type band.
"Classic set from a southern rock marvel" How can you not love the Black Crowes. This disc is a testament to their grooviness. If you like infectious, soulful jams, you need to pick up this disk!
"With the Crowes it's about the music...as always" I laugh out loud when i read the reviews of anyone who says this sucks or it's not as good as it could have been. The Crowes put the music first! No big fanfare, no fireworks, no gimmicks! It could be said the Black Crowes are the opposite of Kiss. Both bands give you your moneys worth, but with the Crowes its the music. No spectacle, no posturing and best of all NO Pretense! This shows the band with their best line up at the top of their game. That being said, I would have prefered to watch the band during the extended jamms instead of them walking around town. Also, I would have liked to see a longer soundcheck...but those are small gripes because the rest of this DVD is just awesome classic rock done with a style and class most bands don't have a clue about. I've seen the Crowes live several times and with different members and I just have to say I'm totally impressed with this DVD...Crowes fans have been waiting a long time for this and we were not dissapointed...you can play this for your children(it's not angry or weird) and you could play it for your folks(they won't say 'what the hell is this?)...this is what music and watching music should be...REAL!
"Wow Black Crows still knock me out!" This is a great Disc, incredible sound, crisp clean rocking! Great clearity of visuals, nice camera work. I am very happy with this disc on a technical level. Also it's a damn fine show. First real Blu Ray disc, I have Ricky Bobby which I got with my PS3 it basically sucked in all aspects so I was a bit soured on Blu Ray Especially after such a great experience wit HD DVDs. This Blu Ray really chages my whole outlook on the the format! I can't wait to get more Blu Rays after the latest PS3 firmware update because now I can view my discs in 720p as opposed to 480p downgraded. that was a big problem for me with the PS3 solved and now very happy. Bring on the Blu Ray! What can I say about the Black Crows performance? Absolutely incredible! the finest line of the band I have seen, the set list was great. Just an A+ concert! If you have Blu Ray and you love rock and blues you must own this disc. GO GET IT !

What our customer's say!
"5 star performance, where's the DTS-HD audio?", This is one of the best concert DVDs of recent years and I'm glad they did a lot of songs off the Southern Harmony And Musical Companion, my favorite Black Crows album. Originally I was turned on to this by a demo Blu-ray I saw at CES. The demo Blu-ray had the 5.1 mix in DTS-HD and it sounded amazing. Once I received this Blu-ray, I was highly disappointed to realize that there is only standard Dolby Digital and standard DTS. Either way, a great performance with lots of energy is found here. The audio mix is really good but it sounds better in full bitrate audio. The video quality is pretty good too, definately four stars out of five.
"The Black Crowes "Freak 'N' Roll...Into the Fog"", THIS IS A GREAT CONCERT OF THE BLACK CROWES FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA. IT WAS FILMED IN 2005 AT THE FILMORE IN SAN FRANCISO. It consists of 19 songs, all very well performed. All the music is great, but there are a few standouts which include: "She Talks to Angels", "Hard to Handle", "Remedy", and "The Night they drove Ol' Dixie Down". It has a running time of approximately 150 minutes.
The line-up consists of: Chris Robinson on vocals, harmonica , guitar; Rich Robinson on guitar, and vocals; Marc Ford on guitar and vocals; Steve Gorman on drums and percussion; Ed Hawrysch on keyboards; Sveen Pipen on bass and vocals; Mona Lisa Young on backing vocals; Charity White on backing vocals; and 4 horn players.
There is bonus material or non-concert material and somewhere in this material is an "impromto" performance of the legendary Gram Parson's classic "Sin City".
OVERALL, IT'S A GREAT CONCERT DVD, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
"Magic at The Fillmore!", For anyone that has never had an opportunity to attend at show at the famed Fillmore this is chance to see the magic that is created there on a regular basis. This is a must own DVD for a Crowes fan. For rock and roll aficianados it's fantastic footprint from a great southern rock and blues band.
Though the Black Crowes change thier set lists in the manner of the Dead or Phish this Dvd contains a lot of songs that casual fans want to hear. My personal favorites from the disc include the briliant "Cursed Diamond" (validating Chris Robinsons place as "The first Slacker of Blues")and the Cover of "The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down" with African- American gospell singers singing the chourus(erie juxtaposition). The Crowes lineup is significant in the fact that it features 4 piece horn section, back up singers and the original band line up (the lead guitar and keyboard player have unfortunatly recently left the band).
The DVD extras include footage of Chris' now ex-wife Kate Hudson doing make up for the band and a sound check performance the Grateful Deads' "He's Gone" which was played in honor of Jerry Garcia's B-day 3 nights later. Last but not least ... the sound and visual quality of the DVD is Fantastic! If you love rock and blues you'll love this DVD
"5 Stars! ", great show!! it's in widescreen format and has Dolby 2.0/5.1 surround and DTS 5.1 surround. great production and great quality. the only thing that i have against this dvd is when they cut to the backstage scenes during the performance. it only happens in 3 or 4 songs for a few seconds so don't let that stop you from getting this. one of the best concert dvds i have seen.
"Welcome to the goodtimes... 2005, live at the Filmore", Couldn't resist, the 5th track on this live collection from the Fillmore in 2005 is "Welcome to the goodtimes" and that's exactly what the Black Crowes have delivered here. The band a in top form and deliver a 2 Hour + show with energy, passion and emotion.
The sound is crystal clear and mixed beautifully whist the video is excellent, whoever produced the video seemd to me to know exactly what to do, the right amount of time on the band / solo spots / the audience etc, brilliantly done.
Chris Robinson sings as well as I have ever heard, what a voice. The Live "At the Greek" back in 2000 with Jimmy Page was simply fantastic, well this new set is right up there.
For me the Black Crowes remind me of a mix of The Allman Brothers / Little Feat / Lynyrd Skynyrd with the swagger of early 70's Rolling Stones. Together with Rich Robinson (gtr), Marc Ford (gtr), Steve Gorman (drums), Ed Hawrysch (Keys), Sven Pipien (Bass), Mona Lisa Young & Charity White (Backing Vocals) and the Left Coast Horns (David Ellis - Tenor Sax, Gavin Distasi - Trumpet, Joshi Marshall - Alto Sax and Marty Wehner - Trombone) the band are firing on all cylinders from the opening track "(Only) halfway to everywhere". "Sting Me", No Speak no slave", "Soul SInging", "Welcome to the goodtimes", "Jealous Again", Space Captain" and a jaw dropping 13 minute version of "My morning song" closes the opening set which just never let up and already had me thinking, wow, this is right up there with any live album I have ever heard... fantastic.
The second set starts of acoustically with "Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz" (Rich and Marc on acoustic guitars only, no vocals), and an acoustic version of "Cursed Diamond" (same twin guitars with Chris on vocals). Slowly the intensity of the second set increases as Rich stays on acoutic and Marc goes to electric lead joined by drums, keys and drums for a emotionally charged version of "She talks to Angels". At this stage I'm thinking... wow, what a well thought out and paced setlist, and it just kept getting better. "Wiser Time", a full out extended jam on "Non Fiction", a briiliantly soulful and almost gospel like "Seeing Things". "Hard to handle" was next with a very cool extended improvised middle section. Jaw dropping moment number two for me was the next track "Let me share the ride" - crowd goes crazy, this just rocks, the set was a 10/10 before this, now it's gone thru the roof! "Mellow Down easy" , the classic "Remedy" and a great working of "The night they drove old Dixie down" finish things off in style.
I really enjoyed this CD (and DVD), if this sounds remotely like your sort of thing, go for it, it's a top notch effort and has joined my personal list of "Great Live albums" that I've enjoyed over the last 30 years.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Amazing show by an Awesome band!!", This is the best Black Crowes line-up ever and they are totally on fire. Stopping reading my bs and buy this gem now! Oh yeah, and Marc Ford needs to get back with the Crowes!!
"Good Crowes Performance", This one is pretty straight forward - the band comes out, plays their set and then good night. The song selection was representative of the best of the albums with Mark Ford on guitar with a few extras and some from the first album. They did em pretty much note for note with a little jam band stuff in the middle of some songs. I could have lived without the montage segments durning the jams. The back stage extras were OK but not really worth revisiting. A few with Kate Hudson hanging out with the band. This is a good overview of the Black Crowes and a solid performance. I don't regret the purchase and have watched it many times over by this point, as I am a big fan of their music.
"Great live band captured.", The Black Crowes certainly never treaded any new territory, musically speaking...and they never claimed to. All they do is play great rock-n-roll, and they do it very well. This relatively inexpensive dvd captures them intimately. The sound is very good, and there are very few cheesy film effects in this dvd. What you get is a classic rock band performing their songs. No gimmicks. For $15 usd, you can't go wrong.
"If you are a Black Crowes fan, you will love this!", I was at this concert and couldn't wait unitl this DVD came out. The Fillmore is such an awesome venue and the concert was one of the best Black Crowes concerts I've ever been to. The setlist is great and to see them up close doing there're thing is very cool. Lots of shots of San Francisco. This is a great music DVD. Highly recommended.
"well i knew it", well i knew it. first off, I like to LISTEN to this band. but in a concert, borrrrringggggggg. not much going on here, all just jammed on a small stage, plugging along.
And Chris, how DOES these guys get the babes? I have a cousin that looks pretty close to him, greasy hair beard and all. and my cousin sings kinda of, not even as good, but still, he is a real nice guy. and his chicks? haha, looks nothing like Goldies daughter! oh wait, he is middle class wages, yea like that has nothing to do with it! hahaha.
but anyway, glad I bought the dvd, just to see, even tho I had a feeling it was going to be boring no action like this. better on dvd money than concert money! music is cool tho, jam it when its on the radio
Listened with Sennheiser 595's, the best that I have found, had 555 for a couple years they are nice too, but cant touch 595's, pay the dif and see, er I mean hear.
