Others say...
"Fast and Reliable" I ordered my first Sandisk Extreme 4 along with the Firewire reader. It delivers on the 40mb per second specification and I have never had any problems with pictures getting corrupted. I ordered a second card earlier this year.
I have dropped this card in the snow, taken pictures for several hours in -15 degree weather, had it in very hot and humid conditions and never had a problem. When shooting RAW I can fill up both cards quite quickly, and when I get back home I really enjoy downloading with this setup, when I have to use other cards or readers I can see how spoiled I have become.
When I switched to Vista x64 I thought I had a problem with the reader, but I called the special tech support number for Extreme products and got to a knowledgeable and understandable tech. He walked me through the troubleshooting and now everything works great.
I do use other cards, but when I am going into unusual conditions, or know I am going to be shooting a lot, I always put this card in the camera.
"As fast as the camera can use" Ducati cards are faster to transfer from the card reader to the computer, just as these Extreme IVs are faster than the Extreme IIIs. But they are all the same in the camera. Extreme III is as fast as the camera can write the photo. The speed advantage comes when you are uploading 8 GB from the card to the computer. THEN you will appreciate the 10 minute transfer time instead of the 30 minute transfer time. You'll need a firewire reader to take advantage of that speed in transferring to the computer though.... SanDisk makes a good one
"Defective card" I have always used sandisk CF cards. I bought this for my new Canon 40D and right away I started to see that one out of every 100 images was corrupted. First I thought it was the new camera but soon the camera started to freeze on me when in continuous shooting mode. I thought I might have a bad copy of the 40D! Did some research and found that the same issue was faced by others and the issue was the card and not the camera. I replaced it with an EXTREME III 4GB card and i have not seen the problem since even in continuous shooting mode. I'd recommend sticking with EXTREME III series for now!
"Speed" I use this card with my Nikon D300 shooting RAW files of about 15MB each. It's a tad slower than the original card (300X) that came with the camera but not noticeable at all when shooting. I still need to take a closer look at the number of frames shot when shooting continuously.
Overall I'm very happy. It's a speedy card and would buy it again.
"up to you" if you need the specs that this card offers, go for it, if not, there are far cheaper alternatives.

What our customer's say!
"Fast and compatible", The SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card allows my camera to actualize it's full speed potential and is 100% compatiable with my camera, card reader, and all software. There are no hang-ups, glitches, or other annoying behaviors I've experienced with other cards.
"This is a scam!!!", SanDisk upgraded the Extreme IV cards to 45mbps per second about 2 years ago. J&R must have a bunch of old cards they never moved, so they're dumping them on you, the unsuspecting customer. You can buy new Extreme IV 8GB cards with 45mbs write speed for more than ten dollars less from elsewhere on Amazon (just search on SanDisk Extreme IV - Flash memory card - 8 GB - CompactFlash and you'll find it).
I live in New York so I have tried to deal with J&R in the past. They have lied to my face to try to trick me into buying whatever item they happen to have in stock. Avoid them!
"my main card", Its read/write speed is noticeably faster than my 4gb Ultra II, not as noticeable compared with the 4gb extreme III. Having the massive card makes live easier, 15mb raws comes out to about 500 pics on this card. I rarely shoot more than that in a day. I purchased this card thinking it will out last my days using the D200, and hopefully its read/write speed limits will be put to work on my next generation camera.
So far I've not had use for the sandisk recovery software that comes with these higher grade type cards on the card. However messing with it a few times on a damaged CD was a pain in the arse, and leaves a lot to be desired as far as software goes.
"Make sure you have a UDMA camera", First off...make sure you have a UDMA compliant camera or you will be spending extra money that won't offer any benefit. If you're camrea doesn't supprt UDMA, don't come back here and whine that it's slow. In fact it may cause problems but from what I've read those are few and far between.
Secondly, the Extreme IV is actually rated at 45MB/s now (UDMA). If you order a card and it's not 45MB/s, send it back as it's old stock.
As for the performance of the card, it's a perfect match for my 50D. I use a number of them while shooting sporting events and they keep up just fine with the 6.3 FPS the 50D can do. Never had one fail on me even in less than perfect conditions.
If you have a UDMA compliant camera, give this card a shot. If you don't have a UDMA compliant camera, go for the Exteme III.
"SanDisk EXT IV 8gb", I am very happy with this card. It has the speed and has the space to hold the raw pictures that I seem to be taking more and more.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Lightning fast, High Performance", It says it's fast, and it is. I haven't been able to get it to choke yet on my D200 shooting Continuous High.
I'll definitely get another one.
"BEWARE - My Card was a FAKE!", BEWARE:
I bought a Sandisk Extreme IV from AMAZON and it would not work properly and finally went dead completely. I contacted Sandisk and they absolutely documented my card as a FAKE, not an authentic Sandisk. I really expected better than this from AMAZON! I guess I am stuck. Below is the actual response from Sandisk.
Dear Mark,
Thank you for contacting Sandisk. We have received your email with photos. Unfortunately the photos show that the card is not an authentic Sandisk card. Take card back to vendor and inform them of our decision.
Best regards, Segundo Rma dept.
"Wow!", Great CF card! Amazingly fast when combined with the Firewire reader! Maybe should have gone with 4 2GB cards but would have bought the same line. A must have for any good Digital camera!
"WATCH OUT FOR THE FAKES! DUMB & DUMBER ON THE LOOSE", Well, I've seen some dumb things before, but when Amazon allows an afiliate vendor to sell counterfeit ExtremeIV 8GB cards, now that is dumb. Especially, since the vendor was brand new to them (obviously not vetted). I bought the card from these guys just to see if it was going to be fake or not. And sure enough as soon as I got it I called SanDisk and what do you know, counterfeit as a 3 dollar bill. About the only thing that could be dumber is for SanDisk not to find a solution for this problem and lose many potential customers because of the uncertainty. BTW These are really convincing fakes, including the high quality retail packaging, the software included, even a little zipper pouch that says SanDisk on it. Maybe it will be best not to buy expensive SanDisk for some time to come.
"Dream came true ", I use it with D200 with F/2.8 for sports and fast action. A faster memory enables me to click take several shots and dont have to wait for camera to write and wait. I still own my D100 and use it as backup. Even with D100 it almost shortened the wait time to half.
So far I am really plesed with the results and capacity. I definitely recomend it especially when you are doing fast action multiple shots for sports or your little 1 year old
Little suggestion though: Case you intend to shoot 8 GB worth of photographs then try to buy two 8 GB using as backup or atleast a combo of 8 &4 or minimal 4 & 4. Try not to give chance to luck.
Can't wait to see 16G :-)
