"2007 an Improvement" I'm a long-time user of Streets and 2007 has some subtle improvements, including a full-screen view when using the GPS. The full-screen view has a large button to re-route if you miss a turn (not like anyone tries to use the laptop while driving) and an estimated arrive time. I purchased 2007 since it sounds like the 2008 product activiation can be a nightmare.
"Had to return it" The GPS unit stopped working the first time we tried it so we had to return it for a refund.
"streets and trips stinks" This program stinks. you need to enter a new starting point every time you use it even though most people start from the same point usualy. The user friendly aspect is poor, the maps are only so so. I found much older products to be much easier and smarter. I bet whoever designed this product doesn't actualy use it!
"It works just like it should" We sold our Garmin and bought this. What a welcome surprise. We bought it for traveling now that we are retired. We installed it in an inexpensive Gateway laptop. After a bit of practice we had it doing exactly what we wanted. It is not hard to use and the receiver works. The only thing we would like to see improved is the voice volume. The software is very intuitive and you don't have to unlock maps and go through a lot of changes to make it work. It costs less than a Garmin and works a lot better. If you buy one, spend a little time learning the software and reading the manual before taking a long trip. You will be very pleased with all that it does. We will never buy anything Garmin, but we will certainly upgrade this software.
"Ask Yourself One Simple Question Before Buying" Strets and trips works as advertised, but may be completely useless for some. This is the key: How many of the places that you need navigation assistance to find would you feel comfortable in either leaving your laptop computer in your car, or taking your laptop computer inside when you arrive? The answer for me is very few, and the result is that I used Streets&Trips just one time before storing it away in a drawer six months ago. Just got one of the Garmin Nuvi 360s which is easier to use and fits nicely in my pocket. As a result,I actually use it.

What our customer's say!
"The best version ever", I have used S&T since 2005, purchasing each new version. I use it mainly while traveling. After purchasing a new laptop with Vista I discovered that my old moble GPS receiver did not have a driver for Vista. I was using S&T 2007 already and didn't want to buy 2008 because it will only allow use on one PC (requires MS registration). By purchasing this slightly used 2007 version with a new GPS receiver I avoided buying 2008. In general the 2007 version is pretty accurate and the new GPS Locator is much faster than my old version. I would love to own the 2009 version but I need to be able to plan a trip on my home PC and then move it to a laptop for travel. Apparently the 2009 version requires you to purchase two copies in order to use the transfer feature. I may eventually buy 2009, install it on my laptop and then use the old version on my home pc to create the trip and let the 2009 version upgrade the trip on the laptop.
"No AI built in", First off, this is a good prduct and works though I had to use the cable to get the GPS to work, just plugging into the USB did not work inside 2 different cars. The problem I have with this program is that they have not done what is totally obvious in my mind: User puts in home address and when searching by just street name, the street name in the town that person is in is first, then that streets within that state, etc. As it is now, you put a street name in and you get that street in Arizona even though I have never made a search in Arizona. I use the program to invest in real estate so I put in a lot of destinations in a confined geographical area. When the program doesn't "learn" that I am aways searching the Toledo, Ohio area and use that as a proximity sort on searches and the program does not give the option of having a "home" to use as a reference, the function of the product is unnecessarily frustrating.
"Works much better than 2008 & 2006 ", Previously used 2006 as navigation in my work van and when the gps receiver broke, I decided to upgrade to 2008 Streets & Trips despite the poor reviews here. The 2008 did not work properly and needed to be restarted continually, so I replaced it with 2007, which works great. No problems or complaints since.
"Streets and Trip-Ups", Bought MS Streets/Trips (with GPS) 2007 expecting it to be a serious product with some degree of reliability. Not! The Pharos 500 GPS receiver will not stay connected to the satellite signal for more that a few minutes, and once it loses it, you have to start over by shutting down the program and re-launching the ap. It's a mess. I've used this in totally wide open areas of Dallas, TX, and there is rarely a time when the satellite signal is found, much less kept connected. Perhaps the most ironic thing about it is the GPS receiver works best when sitting on my 2nd floor window sill, exactly where it's never going to be used! Once it gets into my car, it loses the signal. Buy a different GPS system if you expect to own one that works.
"Great PC map program", I have since upgraded to the 2008 version. This was good enough that upgrading was a no brainer.

"OK For Trip Panning and S.A. On The Road - Not for Geocaching", See title - for geocaching you NEED DeLorme since it'll almost always show you which side of the creek the cache is really on!
"If you don't mind using your PC, this is the best for the money!!!", I have tried several other GPS programs - and this is by far the best out there in my opinion! Perfect directions, fast to redirect you, lets you know about construction... it has saved me time quite a few times! I tried a handheld GPS and the main difference is that the Microsoft Locator is just much more powerful than the handhelds I have tried. I don't have to stop the car to locate a satelite if I turn it on while I am driving. The Microsoft GPS Locator can find a satelite as I'm driving down the road! Obviously the fact that you need it connected to a PC is not as convenient as carrying a smaller handheld device but I usually have my laptop in the car anyway. On long trips we watch DVD's on the laptop and the GPS simply runs in the background. I would definitely recommend this for long trips. For running around a city, having to open up my laptop is not quite as convenient... but you can't beat the price for a GPS!
"Streets & Trips by Microsoft", This is the poor man's GPS system....very comprehensive and updateable (traffic & roadwork conditions). A must-have for we who are directionally challenged!!
"MS Streets & Trips - Trust But Always Verify", I bought this for my nationwide travels with an RV. It's great to plan with; has a very fine database for finding places, like RV parks/campgrounds, stores, train stations, etc. The maps are very nice to print out along with directions. BUT, and this is a big BUT, I found I have to always verify the route and destination with my GPS unit and Google maps. If I go only by MS S&T, I can end up in the wrong place, which can be difficult with 60 feet of RV. I trusted it for a destination in NJ and it put me across a marina, down a cobblestone street, in a parking lot for the Statue of Liberty. Fortunately there was enough room to turn around and, after a call to the real destination, I found my way there. That's happened several times. Overall, it's nice, but not accurate.
"Exelent product", I have used the older version and were happy to have that one. This is better in every way.The best thing to have if you travel.
