Others say...
"Works fine for me" I'm a tech nerd and I installed it fine on my Asterisk box using FreePBX.
"Great product" I felt compelled to review this and give it 5 stars seeing that it's current rating is only 3 stars. The device is working flawlessly for me. You do need to be a little bit technical to be able to configure it properly. But this is more about knowing what settings your VOIP provider requires than the device itself.
I love it!
"Great device, as long as you know what you are doing" If you are not familiar with Voip Technology, the pap2t can be a little hard to understand since it did not come with enough documentation. Currently, I own 3 of them, they are pretty impressive, although require some tweaking in the setting in order to get the most out of your internet phone service.
The linksys website has a few documentation regarding the pap2, and how to make it work behind a router.
In addition, Online forum, such as: dsl report can be very helpful.
last but not the least, this is a great hardware...
"works great!" Purchased this from Amazon and it works flawlessly with Gizmo5 and voipstunt voip services. I wish it had an option to switch between the 2 lines by pressing some special keys instead of connecting 2 phones to the 2 ports.
"Will not work with Vonagae!" I am an existing Vonage customer. I have been using their service for 2 years. Tried to move my existing phone numbers from my flaky old Linksys WRT54GP2 to the new PAP2T-NA VoiP adapter using the "Move a Line" website. (www.vonage.com/retail_subscribe/) NO LUCK. Error message is "Not a valid MAC address."
After a few hours with Vonage tech support on the other side of the planet the senior tech adviser confirmed that THIS DEVICE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VONAGE SERVICE. Wish someone had already written this review!
My suggestion is to try MagicJack, which seems to work flawlessly with my AT&T 3 Mbit service.

What our customer's say!
"Works as advertised if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.", If you are looking for a reasonably priced ATA and aren't afraid of (or terribly offended by) the prospect of spending some time setting up this nice, well designed little box to work with your chosen SIP provider, then look no further. Your efforts will be rewarded.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a turnkey solution or are highly offended at the idea that a company like Linksys might offer an inexpensive product that may require a little effort on your part, I cannot recommend this product to you.
"Very Good Product .. you won't be disappointed", I am quite happy with this purchase. The device is the best adapter I have used. Sound/voice quality is just excellent. My previous device (InnoMedia MTA6328-R2e/ aka Sunrocket Gizmo) was quite noisy and not as clear in comparison.
With a little tweaking, I can send faxes reliably.
As others as posted, visit DSLreports for full reviews.
Most Voip providers support this device and have instructions for setup.
"Good so far. Great device with complex configs.", I am very happy with this product. I was pleasantly surprised by the cornocopia of configurability and features. The administration guide is hard to find in the Internet, and is not delivered with the CD (the CD is more geared towards an end-user who is using a set provider and configuration by that provider). However, once I hunted down the correct documentation, I was opened up to a realm of enterprise-level configurability that this device supports. FYI, the admin guide file is [...]
I am a very advanced computer programmer, and an intelligent telephone user. However, this realm of VOIP and telephony quickly makes me realize I am not an advanced telephone programmer, and the attached admin guide is no exception. You have to be both advanced at computer administration AND telephone administration to breeze through that guide, and for me, it was difficult enough just to hack out a working system. Every month or so, I want some feature that eventually I figure out how to configure, using various sources, including that guide and Google, but it's never easy.
So far, the user experience has been quite good. Clear call quality without problems, fairly easy initial configuration for me, etc..
The main detriment is one of its main benefits: its complexity. If you can get past that stumbling block, this is a great product at a good price.
"Works well so far", Unit works as described. Very complex configuration appears to be available via web interface - but setting it up through my voip provider (RingCentral) with a single setup file worked without any issues - very easy.
"Buyer Beware", Buyer beware. This equipment does not work properly. I bought a Linksys WAG160N so I could connect a new laptop by wireless. Needing a VoIP phone adapter to work with the modem I called Linksys to ask what I should do. They recommended a Linksys PAP2T adapter which I also bought. 1. The wireless internet connection fails frequently and constantly needs rebooting. I might just as well sit at the wired desktop. 2. The VoIP adapter normally does not work. Linksys tell me there is a known problem between the PAP2T and the WAG160N. It's sad that they didn't tell me this when I asked what to buy. 3. The WAG160N falls over every time I launch my P2P torrent program. Within two minutes the internet fails followed by the DSL line. It has never worked properly. Apparently this is also a known issue with this equipment. I have spent many hours with Linksys help trying to fix these issues, including firmware upgrades and much stuffing around. I have reached the point where I simply want my money back so I can buy other equipment that works.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Best for when you need two VOIP lines", Are you ready to jump into the exciting world of VOIP? Freedom and cost savings are there to be had, but be aware that this market is still in a developing stage, and if you are not a techie, you are strongly advised to not buy a product like this and simply sign up with a VOIP provider who will include the equipment as part of the package. This will insure you have the best support in case anything goes wrong.
If you're still reading, you should be nevertheless aware that the configuration screens for these type of devices are obscure and take a bit of a learning curve. There is a full manual in searchable PDF which you will likely need to refer to, but when you do, it is very good.
Now, after all that, if you need a dual line or dual channel VOIP ATA (analog telephone adapter), let me heartily state that this is your product. I own one and love it, and have read many reports from other satisfied users. What is a channel? Well in the wonderful world of VOIP, a channel is an active call. Many providers, when you pay for an incoming phone number (aka DID, or Direct Inward Dialing number), give you two or more channels. What does this mean? If you have two phones hooked up to this unit, but are only paying for one DID, if you are on one line, the other will automatically ring if someone calls you. Conversely, if someone is actively calling on one channel, you can pick up the line on the other channel and make a call. I have not yet personally tried this but I have been assured that such things are possible.
Your VOIP provider should be able to help you get it configured correctly. Linksys (they bought out Sipura, who is the de-facto standard for VOIP ATA's) is very well supported by most VOIP providers.
Note: if you only need one VOIP line and channel, I would recommend the Linksys 3102 instead. That model allows you to register to more than one VOIP gateway at a time, which allows you to configure your dial plan for the cheapest provider to whatever countries you call to most.
"WARNING", Be very careful that you do not plug a different transformer into your phone adaptor. This is the only product I have ever owned that blew out, and became useless, from a different plug being placed in it. All others either worked anyway,or could be reset. If this was going to be a problem, this manufacturer should have made sure that only it's plug fit the adaptor. Or at least allowed the unit to be easily reset.
"Linksys Internet Phone Adapter with 2 Ports for VOIP PAP2T", Excellent Product!!!! It is now outdated, so the price should reflect it, and it should be lower than $46.70.
"Review", A very good product which is doing the job it was advertised to do. Some initial problems with setting up but once this hurdle was over work very well. Highly recommend this product.
"Works perfectly. Very pleased", Worked perfectly first time, and every time. Audio quality first class. On-line Instructions were good. Very pleased with this purchase.
