"MS Office 2007"
It is not stable on Vista. Word often shuts down. Plus you can no longer do "save as" from Word. That adds a few more keystrokes for certain duplicative type of Word products.

"Good old office but BAD new look "
I love all the Microsoft applications however with the new layout it is much harder to use and navigate. The 2002 version with drop down lists works so much better. This new version has lots of toolbars with icons to click. That I Hate.

"Don't Switch Yet!!!!!"
Look, the fact is that once you get used to things, office 2007 has a lot of features that are easier to use and in many ways is a huge upgrade from 2003. However (and you knew this had to be coming), there are a tremendous number of bugs. I mean like crash your system bugs. Today's latest bug is that mail merge doesn't work right. It gets halfway through and then bombs out. So now I have to go back to 2003 to actually do a mail merge. There is also really strange behavior on some of the charts in excel. For instance, I tried to add confidence intervals to a line chart and that made excel crash. Not to mention the fact that the whole way that excel charts work is unintuitive now.

I think that someday this will be a good product - but what you are buying is the beta version. They should be letting people test this for free - rather than making you pay $300 to be a tester for them. My advice, wait for them to fix the bugs (which is really the best advice whenever you buy a microsoft product).


"BAD Product"
I recently bought a new laptop, and the changeover involved an "upgrade" to Office 2007. I was aware that there was a new user interface, but was not aware that Office 2007 is, in almost every respect, an INFERIOR product to any Office version that came before it!
I have used MS Office for many years, and am what could be called a "power user," especially for Word and Powerpoint, which I use weekly.
One of the great features of Office is that it has been totally customizable. For those who use office frequently, it has been easy to create your own custom toolbars so you have what you need easily available. Most tasks could be done with one or two mouse clicks... Until Office 2007!
In Office 2007, hardly anything is customizable! You have a constantly changing tool ribbon, which takes up a lot of screen real estate.
The ribbon presents a set of icons based on what it "thinks" you will need at the moment. It is rarely right! ... so you go searching through the tabs trying to find the icon that was on the ribbon a few moments earlier! There is one small "tool bar" up on the title bar that you CAN customize, but it is not convenient, and will not hold many icons. It has the option of being moved below the ribbon, which takes up even more screen real estate, but is still very limited, and cannot be docked or moved from there.
Granted, there are third party programs, such as Ribbon Customizer and Toolbar Toggle, that add back some of the ability to customize, but it is still far inferior to what Office users are used to!
Even the third party programs, however, cannot get around the fact that there are some features in earlier Office versions that are simply NOT included in the new one. In previous versions of Powerpoint, you could add a set of icons that, with one mouse click, allowed you to adjust the vertical spacing of text. That has been omitted in 2007. In the "improved" 2007 version, you must open a dialog box, and make several mouse clicks to adjust vertical spacing!
To make matters worse, Office 2007 documents are not compatible with earlier versions. After spending years establishing formats such as .doc and .ppt as industry standards, Microsoft has introduced a version of office that does not use these formats! If you want to send a document to someone who still has Office 2003 (or any other program that reads .doc files) you need to remember to save it in that format. The default 2007 format cannot be opened by earlier versions!
Office 2007 CAN open the older formats, but even in opening earlier Office formats, there are problems. For example, most users of Powerpoint have learned the trick of adding drop shadows behind the text to make the text stand out on the screen. Office 2007 has changed the way these shadows are formed. When you open a powerpoint presentation made on an earlier version, your old drop shadows WILL NOT ANIMATE with the text. When a slide appears, the shadows of the letters are already in place, and the letters animate in on top! Mircosoft's only suggestion... go through your slides and take the old shadows out, and put new shadows in! (I tried this... it takes 30-40 minutes per presentation! ...And I have hundreds of powerpoint presentations in my file!)
For someone who never used Office before, or who just uses Word to type simple letters, 2007 may be okay, but for anyone who depends on Office for detailed tasks and productivity, 2007 is a nightmare.
I have always loved Microsoft Office. It has been an industry standard for ease of use. In my opinion, that is no longer the case. I believe Microsoft tried to produce something "different" to attract new users, but in the process totally ignored the needs of those who have used their products in the past. If you have the option of staying with an earlier version, DO NOT UPGRADE to this product!

"MS OFFICE FULL STD 2007"
I am still learning all the features with this product and it amazes me how it will see the font you have & when you choose the font you want it in, it automatically resizes it for you! WONDERFUL product! Everyone is still behind in having 2003 but am so glad I got the 2007 edition!

"MS Office Standard 2007", I like it... the apps look different, but their functionality is all there and then some!

"new user, great for vista users", i bought this for 2 reasons: its compatible with windows vista and i was getting sick of converting my files to microsoft since it seems to be the most commonly used software. i LOVE it!!! the new interfaces are so user-friendly. even though i bought tutors for office 2007, i found there was alot i could do by just wingin' it because of the interface layout. also, microsoft 2007 has some excellent tutors for free on the microsoft website. although i am still new, i know i am going to really love this and be able to use it for many years to come since i have vista. all in all, if you are new to microsoft, i think this is an excellent choice for making the switch or just starting out.

A lot of the changes made in this format are not subtle, which is the only consideration that keeps me from giving it a perfect rating. However, once you take the time to learn the product, it is easily superior to past versions.

"HIND SITE IS 20 20", Microsoft Office Standard 2007 Full Version loaded on Vista without a hitch. The price was right. The lay out is quite differant from Office 2000, which would not load on Vista by the way. Is difficult to make the transition and make the program work the way I'm used to. Word seems to be codependant on Outlook for addressing letters. I'm sure the kinks will work out however long it takes.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Do not uninstall Office 2003!", When I got a copy of this new version of Office I was eager to try it out, but luckily I was cautious enough to select the install option that keeps 2003 live in your computer. The results of using 2007 were atrocious, and the only program I did not have an issue with was Outlook (by the way, you can't keep Outlook 2003 if you are installing 2007), and I did not see any real improvements with it either.

There are three huge issues with the new version of Office. First, performance goes down big time. You will feel like your PC is crawling and even though I doubled my RAM to 2GB I still experienced issues with this. I was also affected by frequent fatal errors that caused the programs to close, especially with Excel. Second, backwards compatibility is a joke, both PowerPoint and Excel files are messed up when saved in the old format and opened with 2003. A clear case was an Excel file that I saved in 2003 and sent to a client, and when discussing over the phone he mentioned that the scale was off. I opened the file from my Sent Items (using 2007) and everything looked OK, but when I did the same with 2003, the chart was all screwed up. Also, if you paste a chart as an image in an email using 2007 and send it to someone that has 2003 they will just see a black rectangle. Finally, your productivity will be cut in half, because Microsoft completely changed the layout of the menus, and to tell you the truth, these are less intuitive than before. They have a more "futuristic" look, but that is just about it.

Bottom line is that after a couple of weeks of trying to make it work, I decided that I was not going to make the effort. I will put it off until I absolutely have to move to the newest version. Microsoft basically made these programs harder to use and limited their performance. Just a horrendous effort on their part!

"Microsoft Office standard 2007 Full version", I bought this on Amazon to save money from the computer company. I am purchasing a new PC without the software. This was a good purchase for me.

"The worst. Ever.", Vista has a twin, and its name is Office 2007. And I'm embarrassed to admit I failed to do the research I should have done, and typically thoroughly do before buying anything. Yes, it got me. I was lulled by thoughts of, "I know Windows and Office applications like the back of my hand--how different could it possibly be?" And why shouldn't I think that given the compatibility and cohesion of past Office versions? Like many I'm sure, even with new or updated MS products I've pretty much always been able to, at the very *least*, intuit and immediately execute core commands--read: effective and efficient productivity right out of the box. Well, that party has come to a brutal ended with the Office '07 suites. With its completely new interface (within which the same user-friendly Office functions we've all come to know and love are purportedly buried), MS has released a product I've found to be astoundingly unintuitive and difficult to learn (i.e., nowhere near worth the time it would take to figure out), not to mention incredibly slow to run. Then, once I started to get the hang of the method to their madness a little bit, my feeble hopes were quickly dashed when I discovered there to be MINIMAL ability to customize menus, toolbars, buttons, functions, etc such that I could better take advantage of said "improvements". Can't wait to see the new TV commercial Mac will inevitably come up with to mock this mock-worthy software. Don't get me wrong folks, overall I'm a big PC/MS/Win/Office fan. But, wow, for these and other troublesome reasons already described elsewhere, this one has left me utterly stunned.

While Microsoft did make some improvements, many changes have users frustrated and mad.

Cons

- A list price of $400 means many will forgo Outlook and buy Home & Student suite for MUCH LESS
- The ribbon puts things in WEIRD places
- Microsoft disabled classic menus so you can't find stuff ... ARGH!!!
- Startup times seem a little slower ... why????
- Strangely slow performance with Word

The general hatred for the ribbon is well known. Microsoft Word and Excel have drawn the most heat. It took everybody years to learn those nested menus and hard to find functions. Now they are all moved!!!!

Actually, the ribbon wouldn't be so bad if you could have your regular old classic menus above it. Once you learn the ribbon, there's some logic to the way things have been relocated. Still, this was a huge blunder and I wonder if MS will back track on that.

This guy also includes Outlook, which is a MUST for me since I have to use Outlook on my work PC. I tried using the exported files in the new vista calendar apps, and none of them really worked that well. The professional Microsoft Office Professional 2007 FULL VERSION and ultimate Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 FULL VERSION [DVD] suite versions also include outlook.

Yet why the list price of $400? The Home and Student Office 2007 suite Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is $150 and includes everything here except for Outlook. Is Outlook worth $250 now? To be fair, there are cheaper upgrade versions. Still, I may be switching to a new email / calendar / productivity program all-together.

The new XML doc format is Microsoft's way of getting away from the proprietary .doc format. This will aggravate some people too, but you can just save everything in the 2003 format. I like the new format and I think it will catch on with time.

Despite the short comings, once you get past the learning curve the programs themselves are improved.
