"Intuit is greedy and ignorant, hope they face compatition"
I am using QB Premium 2006 now and just upgraded my PC to Vista.
I did not imagine that QB2006 was not compatible with Vista (my fault not to check) and no upgrades are available and Intuit is not planning any, recommending to upgrade to 2007 version.
$300+ annual upgrade seems too expensive!
Software is good, but not great and there is no justification for the price, except greed. With so many users, Intuit should be able to provide upgrade compatible with Vista for less...
Looking around for competitive packages - MS Office Accounting looks good (and MUCH less expensive) - I'll check that one out!

"Great for small businesses"
The Premier Edition of Quickbooks is worth every penny. If you assemble a product from inventory parts like I do, this is the edition to get. The main reason for using Quickbooks is that instead of feeding your paperwork to your accountant, you feed it to Quickbooks first. Beware, you need one of the many Quickbooks reference books such as Quickbooks for Dummies in addition to the small booklet that comes with the software unless you are extremely well versed in accounting. Also, if you make a sample company for practice, it is nearly impossible, if not impossible, to delete it unless you delete the entire program and reload it. This shouldn't be an issue, but everytime you open Quickbooks, you will see all the companies that have been created.

"Review of QuickBooks Premier Edition 2007"
For the most part, this update is helpful. It still does not present a format for statements that, to my mind, works well in a church. There is confusion on the part of statement recipients when their statement reflects a negative balance due to paying in more than pledged or making donations without a pledge.

Moving into a new program always presents challenges. I feel confident that, after a few more months, it will be more easily used. The support system works reasonably well.

"the worst"
The worst upgrade ever. Please stop making me upgrade to newer, slower, more memory intensive applications that bog down my computer and don't work as well as what they were meant to replace. I would have stuck with qbooks 2005 (or 2003) if they hadn't stopped supporting payroll for them.

"Quickbooks Pro 2007 SLOW SLOW SLOW"
Truly unbelievable. I was forced to upgrade to 2007 to maintain payroll services. I bought it and can no longer work. My data file exploded in size. For example, I started backing up my file 15 minutes ago and it's still in "verifying data" mode (backup used to take about 2 minutes tops). I can't do anything in the books. I'm paralyzed. I've tried every "solution" I could find in every group and support and blog site on in the internet. DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MAKE THE FILE SIZE EXPLODE AND FIX IT. IF YOU ARE NEW TO BOOKKEEPING, GO ELSEWHERE. If you are like me - an eight-year quickbooks (l)user, well, I don't know. I'm completely at a loss.

What our customer's say!

"No emailing invoices without Purchasing Business Services", You would think that simply emailing an invoice to your clients would be a standard feature. However this is not the case. The option to 'Email Invoice' is available, but when chosen, launches browser and attempts to log into Intuit Business Services wherein the Login Failed, service not supported.

Also, the invoice templates are ugly, amateurish looking and not easily customizable.

At this price you would expect more. This software is definitely for the novice business user. Use Peachtree or MS Small Business Accounting instead.

"Network support is sadly lacking", We use QB Premier 2007 on a network and I have to say the network support for QB is astonishingly crude. It doesn't use a true server or database engine so we are always forced to switch to single user mode to delete any records or items, and the "gateway" PC has to be up and running with QB open to even allow any "network" access at all. Rather hard to fathom for a 2007 product from a company with a great reputation. I have been using Quicken at home for 10+ years and have been disappointed with how the business version is not as well implemented as the home version... One example: even on a net with multiple users you get one "email contact" for your entire company which applies to all customers... so you can't have an employee dedicated to a given customer, and have all emails to that customer come from that employee. Forms generation (quotes, invoices, etc) could be better. You can't use different fonts for customer name and address and all the item data in the form, for example.

Another headache is trying to synchronize with an online store. We looked at the available solutions and finally settled on the ShopSite cart with the new (it's in beta now) ShopSite synch tool for $200. It's not a perfect solution but works acceptably. Others we tried had issues with discount codes, etc.

Another thing which was a pain to set up but now works well is online bank account synch. Our bank's IT dept was great (Zions Bank) and now we can synch all our accounts - something we could not do with $18,000 per year NetSuite. This is a huge time saver.

We paid for the extra phone support ($300/year) and once we finally get through to someone who is knowledgeable, we've gotten good help with some tricky issues (related to bank account synch for example).

This could be a great product. Lets hope Intuit fixes the irritations and improves network support.

"Anything for a buck", Don't expect your version of Quicken to last long. Unlike almost all other software developers, the folks at Quicken seem to look for ways to make their product out of date so they have to be repurchased. And then they don't even offer upgrades, you have to buy the whole thing over again. Avoid getting into this system. If you do, plan on renewing it ever couple years at a high cost.

"Great for your business", Quickbooks is a great accounting software for your business. Just keep in mind that if you have no experience with accounting software that there will probably be a big learning curve and you might want to invest in some of the manuals and guides before taking something like this on. If you are already running anything other than Peachtree then you are going to love this software.

"Quickbooks Premier 2007 Review", I found this product to be very adequate in its performance and it is very easy to install and log on to.

"QuickBooks is a wonderful Software", Before using software for our firm, we were using AbacusLaw, the accountant recommended that we switch over to Quickbooks, and it has been the best and the smartest move that the firm did. It is user friendly, payroll and taxes are easy. Customer support is wonderful, helpful.

"Great Program", As I continue to learn this program it gets better and better. I love that I am able to quickly track my money (not that it is a great amount) more efficiently and list all my transactions, customers and donations with just a few clicks.

The projections and statements are impressive. There are a few minor things I wish it (software) had (i.e., more customization options, etc.) but overall it is good. Actually, it may allow me to customize it once I really begin using all the options included. God bless.

"Does not yet work with Vista (April, 2007)", Using this product with Windows XP works fine. But I bought QuickBooks 2007 specifically because it was required for Windows Vista. But it simply crashes all the time. Here are some features that presently cause QuickBooks to crash (some of them are new bugs to the most recent update--March 2007):

- double-clicking on a report to drill down to data-->CRASH
- resizing a timesheet window-->CRASH
- saving an invoice-->CRASH

The good news is that my data hasn't become corrupted yet. The bad news is that these are crashes that are predictable and always occur--and yet, I'm not the one who spends most of his time in the books; I'm sure there are other issues that I could get my bookkeeper to list off. On my XP machine, this application works fine. But why did I shell out over $300 for a product that doesn't do what it's advertised to do (have you seen all the advertisements that are partnerships between Intuit and Microsoft for how well the two programs work together?)--that is, it doesn't yet work with Vista.

My business is in serious danger of losing its financial data because of this buggy product. That scares the heck out of me. Wait before buying this version or try Microsoft Accounting 2007 if you're new to a financial tool (can't vouch for it...but why not, right?). I really like QuickBooks' features, have been using it for 5 years--but I hate that Intuit has once again failed to deliver.

And one more word to the wise--don't ever give them your real mailing address--I get more mail from them than any other advertiser.

"I don't feel like a pirate", I wish I had more to offer however, when I ran into my first roadblock using the Quickbooks Retail 2007 it asked me to register it. When I called to do that, they told me that the copy I bought was pirated!! Then they aggressively tried to sell me one at full retail. 45 minutes later, 1 supervisor and 1 manager, I was offered a 15% discount and all of the things that they already give you for free.

I am very disappointed so far.

"Still Good but getting too overburdened", I am a contractor and have used QuickBooks for many years. I've generally been satified with the program but I long ago became disallusioned with the company that makes it, Intuit. They are, in my opinion, far too avaricious, in that they ceaselessly look for ways to dip into my wallet. On the few occasions when I called to ask a relatively minor question, their first concern was to sell me a technical assistance plan, which is not cheap, and refused even to say whether they had the answer until I paid up. In recent years, their "technical assistance" has largely gone offshore, and is staffed by well-meaning but hopelessly inept people. By far the most glaring example of their avariciousness is their tendency to render older versions of Quckbooks obsolete insofar as subscribers to their payroll program are concerned. They sunsetted 2005 so that it will no longer accommodate newer payroll add-ons. I had to upgrade to 2006 or else do without the automated payroll feature. When will the axe drop again? Who knows. Quickbooks is probably the best accounting software for a small business. It allows me to be a one-man office. Invoicing is very easy and quick, etc. Payroll is just as easy and cost effective. Years ago I had to retain an accountant's assistant to come to my office once a week to do the payroll and file 941s etc. With Quickbooks I do it all in about an hour and save the $7k a year I used to pay the accountant to boot. So from that perspective Quickbooks is a blessing, but then again so is Peachtree and several other accounting software programs on the market. Quickbooks is still the best, but Inutit better watch out. Others programs like Peachtree are catching up fast. My best advice anyone who buys Quickbooks for the first time, is be very careful with the initial setup, especially in creating your chart of accounts. Get advice from your accoutant if possible. The last thing you want is to get 2 years down the road and find you made a mistake in the setup and now have to unravel it. And one mistake can skew any reports you generate with Quickbooks. A lot of the reviews I've read are valid, some are outright spam, but the one-star reviews are usually from people who are not doing something right. Try it. You can always return it if you don't like it.
