"Fast as Advertised" I bought this USB Card Reader because I shoot photos in RAW format. They are usually about 11MB each and I fill up 2-4GB cards. My old ready would take between 20min-over an hour to download them. This ready is so much faster it is unbelievable. It would be faster if I were using a desktop and not a laptop. It is limited by the hard drive speed. I highly recommend this product.
"Fast" This is much faster than coping from you camera, but you do lose the ability to rename on import using the camera's software.
"Does what it says" "Extreme" sums this up. Performance from this card reader is top-notch. I use it with the 4GB extreme CF cards - great combination.
"Very fast!" This with the extreme III memory cards, my downloads are amazingly fast, would recomend to everyone
"Works just like it says!" Sandisk Extreme USB 2.0 Reader (Retail Package)
I bought this reader to work with the SD media for my Kodak Z1275 camera and the Compact Flash media for my Nikon D70s. It works well with both older and newer cards. It works perfectly!

What our customer's say!
"Nice to have fast CF and SD in one small package", Very handy to have Compact Flash and SD in the same small unit, as these are the formats I've been most likely to encounter with DSLRs and other digital cameras. Not sure why SanDisk split these formats in their newer readers. So far, it's much faster than transferring pictures through the built-in USB port on a Canon Rebel XT and 20D. And it looks smaller in real life than it does in the product photograph where it appears more elongated -- it's about 2.5" square by .75" thick.
"So nice!", It's nice to have a card reader that the card can be inserted and removed from so smothly without fear of ruining the pins and/or card sockets.
And this thing is blazing fast! With my Extreme III cards, I can transfer an entire card's worth of photos to my PC very quickly!
"OK so far", After reading reviews about it failing to read cards after a while, and having experienced that with other card readers, I was a bit hesitant but really needed a reader with a decent cable length. In the month or so I've been using it, it has failed to immediately sense an SD card a few times, but I believe in all cases it was really because the Mac had been sleeping and was not fully awake yet. I'd remove the card and reinsert it and all was well. I can't remember any failures with the compact flash slot. So I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt in awarding 5 stars. It seems faster than any other readers I've used.
"Best downloader I've had", I got one of these are I now shoot 8gb cards, and want to download them as quick as possible. This is the quickest I've used yet, and the cards slide in and out of it very positivly. I've had other brands where the pins bent, but this is much better built. Also, it's tidy and small for travelling.
"It's Fast", I just filled a 4GB CF card this past Saturday. As luck would have it, my card reader arrived that same day.
To test the speed, I transfered the files a total of four times:
- Camera to desktop via camera's USB 2.0 cable - Camera to laptop via camera's USB 2.0 cable - CF in this cardreader to desktop - CF in this cardreader to laptop
The camera used is a Canon EOS 40D. Memory card is a 4GB Sandisk Extreme III CompactFlash. In each of the four tests, I transfered the files using Canon's ZoomBrowser EX transfer tool (included with the 40D).
Results: Average transfer time via the 40D's USB 2.0 cable was 8:48. Average transfer time via the cardreader was 4:36.
That's nearly twice as fast as the camera's USB 2.0 interface. Those 4 minutes could add up if you have several cards or a few 8 or 16 GB cards.
Other than that, I'm pleased with the appearance, size and feel of the reader. The cord detaches so it will fit in my camera bag easily, or it looks good just sitting on my desk. There's a small blue LED that indicates when a card is inserted.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Sandisk reader", It was exactly what I needed and couldn't figure it out at first, but got online and got help from the support and everything worked out great.
"Everything depends on your computer", I bought the Sandisk Extreme USB 2.0 Reader, thinking that, like the sales pitch, it would dramatically incease my download times from a CF card (or SD) to my computer. Well, I was wrong. Like all things in the slightly despicable digital industry, you need something else in addition to the thing you are buying. And, of course, they do not tell you this (unless you read the very very, sometimes obscure, sometimes not present) fine print. Anyway, on my current system, which is a bit outdated, there was no visible improvement in download speed from the previous eFILM USB 2.0 reader I have. I also bought a new Extreme III 4GB CF card, which this Sandisk Extreme is specially designed for, and there was no obvious improvement in download time. Remember, you must have a USB port ON YOUR COMPUTER that ACCEPTS the "superfast" download times of the Sandisk Reader. So, in essence, check your own computer system to see if it will even work "as promised" by the Sandisk Extreme Reader. You may have to buy a new computer, either a new MAC or a PC with DUO processors, for this puppy to work "as promised" by Sandisk. I'm pretty sure that once I upgrade to a new system, it will work "as promised". For now, though, there is no discernable change in download times at all.
"Fast and Simple", Great little product- accepts compact flash and SD - the two standards (so to speak) uses a standard USB cable on the back (probably same kind that came with your camera) So far it has worked flawlessly- been using it for about a month. Much better than wearing down your camera battery offloading photos and faster too. Only 4 stars because I feel it should be a little cheaper and I worry about the long term lifespan of the usb port on the back.
TIP: Always put the card back in the camera as soon as you are done downloading photos AND format the card in the camera when you put it back in, do not erase the images- much more likely to get card errors when just erase the images.
"Great card reader!", I bought a Sandisk Extreme IV compact flash card and none of my other card readers worked with it. This one works great! It seems to transfer files rapidly and my Sony RAW files transfer okay also.
"Good bang for the buck", While this may not be the absolute fastest reader on the market, it is approximately 3 times faster than my old generic USB 2.0 CF reader and at a price right around $20, it is definitely a bargain. The fact that it also includes Sandisk RescuePro is an added bonus.
