"This is a cool Transformer!"
This is a very great Transformer because it is not too challenging but it is fun to transform, play with and pose. The reason I rated it 4 stars for fun is that the right arm on mine does not bend all the way, so when he is in "vehicle" mode, he is not as compact as he should be. Other than that, it is a "masterpiece."

"Awesome!"
Awesome!! My husband loved this more than anything I have ever given him--even my virginity or my hand in marriage or for that matter our beautiful baby girl.

"Poor product"
On Christmas eve, the toy package was opened. The plastic cover was torn down to get the transformer out. My grandson was very happy to see the toy. But one foot came loose. It was never stayed intact. Whever transformation was performed, the part kept loose. My grandson totally was dismayed. I could not return it, because the package was not in original condition as Amazon's return policy requires.

"My grandson loves it"
I know this is supposed to be a collector's item but my grandson thinks it's the best Christmas gift ever. He couldn't wait to get it away from his father. He didn't care about the history, or the voice, or if the stacks were shorter than they should have been. He's 4 1/2 years old and can sing the whole Transformers song. Optimus Prime is his current hero and he absolutely loves this toy. His first comment...after he finally got it away from his father, was "This is heavy". I think it will stand the test of time and a child's abuse :)

"Not the best version"
Between Hasbro's 20th anniversary edition and Takara's version, the Takara version wins in terms of quality. First off, Hasbro shortened the smoke stacks to comply with toy safety laws. Second, paint. The colors on this 20th anniversary edition are bright red (almost orange) and matte blue, as opposed to Takara's metallic red and metallic blue. The Takara Optimus' smoke stacks, grill, and gas tanks are chrome, whereas Hasbro's Optimus are a matte painted gray. The Takara Optimus' eyes are reflective blue, whereas Hasbro's are painted blue. The Takara Optimus' feet have a clear plastic over the lights, Hasbro's version has the lights painted over. The gun for Takara's Optimus is gray, the gun for Hasbro's is bright blue. There are a couple other differences, but you get the point: Takara's version is of higher quality. But don't me wrong, since it is still the same mold, it still is a fun toy and an awesome piece for kids or the casual collector.

The absolute must-have for Transformers collectors is not this version, but Takara's Masterpiece Optimus Prime... with trailer!

"A True Masterpiece.", You have to buy one. It is a true masterpiece for your collection. I like it because of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership he comes with. It weighs alot more than Masterpiece Megatron. If you can, go on Ebay and you can find a trailer for him from Justittoys to tow in truck mode (It doesn't turn into the base). But still you got to get one.

"One master piece", This Optimus Prime is simple a wondwerful toy, it is big, full articulate and all the extras (the energy axe, megatron, the standing plate and the matrix). two things that I do not like about this master piece: the riffle's color (why is not black as the series!) and it is 90% plastic! (more metal!). But these two contras cannot sink the overall of this toy!!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"The best Optimus Prime you can buy and display.", I have the original and even with its sentimental value this thing takes the cake in awesomeness. It is HUGE 14 inches+ and is very well made compared to today's standards. I am amazed at how many ways you can pose him and the accessories of Megatron, his Axe and the matrix are welcomed additions. It really looks great displayed with all my original G1 figures. If you are a Transformers fan and like to show a little bit of your nerdy side then this is the figure for you!!!



When finally manage to break prime from his million straps that hold him into the box. You will notice he has fingers and joints with pistons and the detail is just amazing I am serious when I say how proud I am of the work and design they did on this figure it is really well made and thought out. I won't transform him just leave him posed in his robot greatness.


"Nice looking but could use some tweaks.", This toy is very nice to look at in robot form (true to the look of the cartoon). Some parts are built very strong while others are weak plastic which is stressed at times by the heavy metal parts. My problem with this toy is that considering it's part of the "MasterPiece" collection they should have built the cab better. Mine came as some have mentioned with open gaps and one side of the cab hangs while the other is up in position. To me that is unacceptable and I am sending back. Also, all metal or all plastic construction would have helped. If you want a masterpiece transformer that is made perfect get the Starscream Masterpiece transformer. Every part on that one fits together tight without big gaps.

"Great Bot but not for kids", This is the US release of the TAKARA Japanese Master Piece CONVOY 01. the articulation is awsome and the in scale megatron is a ncie touch. the chest opens to reveal his matrix like in the old transformers movie. Price is good when you compare to Japanese version avail from Brians toys

"Masterpiece Indeed",
I thought this toy was going to be a big piece of plastic. WHOA!!!!! was I surprised. A lot of Die cast in this Toy and It weighs a ton. This is a great collection for you transformer geeks. if you can buy the trailer with it it looks great.

"An old fan's review!!", As like everyone else, I grew up with TF's. I was hesitant to buy, as my interest was sparked by the movie and didn't know if I wanted to pay this much for a toy. The movie brought me back and I couldn't resist!! Every fan will love and appreciate this item! ONly flaw to date is the darn paint issues with chipping, two transformations (carefully) and three paint chips already....:(. Be sure to buy from Amazon as mine was not delivered to the correct house by UPS, but amazon without question shipped a replacement immediately. That is the type of service that no longer exist (or scarcely exist) in the world of retail.
