"Perfect headset for first person shooters", This headset is the best in its price range for first person shooter games. I play Counter-strike and this headset has actually improved my gameplay. The sound quality is super clear and the directions of enemies are easy to determine based on the direction the sound is coming from. I have used lesser headsets in the past, and you could only differentiate between left and right. With this equipment, you can tell up, down, left, right, front, and back. This is a great asset to a gamer when you're facing several opponents. I've actually been accused of cheating because I am able to turn and target opponents before I can see them. The microphone is ultra clear and also sturdy. This isnt some low quality mic on a plastic arm, its a high quality mic attached to the headset with a stiff rubber arm. The cord wrap is wonderful for keeping the long cord from getting stuck under your chair or wrapped around your legs. In line volume control is effective and mic muting is a breeze.

My recommendation: Buy this headset if you're interested in improving your game. The high price tag is not for the casual gamer.

"very good sound quality send and receive; comfortable", This headset has some of the best sound I have heard in mic-headset combinations, and the sound from the microphone is also very good (5 stars on both). They are pretty comfortable (4 rather than 5 stars) as well. The separable USB interface is part of the good sound quality; have not tried it without.

"Sennheiser IS THE BEST!", Stop reading reviews and just get these babies. I really can't think of one argument against not owning these. For the price they are amazing. Music sounds great, and for gaming they are incredible. I would say the PC155 model is a good choice as well, provided you don't need a USB headset.

"Not the comfort I was expecting", I really don't understand why everyone is so positive on these headphones. I own several headsets, from cheap lightweight Radio Shack specials to full-on AKG open-ear headphones I use for doing home studio work. These are one of the most uncomfortable sets of headphones I've ever encountered. They don't conform to the head well at all. They're pretty heavy for their size, and the pressure on the outer edges of the ear is very uncomfortable. If you wear glasses, they will press your ears uncomfortably against them.

Sound quality is average. Nothing like my AKGs.

I'm surprise, really. Maybe Sennheiser doesn't make the same quality as they used to.

"Almost there, but no noise cancellation and not portable", I need a headset that I can travel with, listen to music and talk on Skype, and use in noisy environments (airports, Panera, Starbucks). This is the closest so far to what I need, but there is no noise cancellation and it is VERY bulky to travel with. The sound quality is good, and the mike is directional, which helps eleiminate background noise. I had to keep the molded packaging and carry in my travel bag, since it won't fit in my computer bag. Very arwkward on planes to pull it out and use. My next path it to get real noise-canceling headphones that come with the carrying case, and pair them with a separate mike.

"Wow!", Even though this is a pricey headset, I've now realized that you get what you pay for. I had a $40 Logitech headset before this and it was not even close to as comfortable as this headset is. As an avid gamer who can spend 7-8 hours at a time on the computer I needed a headset that was comfortable. The cushion on the earpieces are wonderful. I did have to take the foam piece off of the microphone as people said I sounded low. I probably could have spent time tweaking my sound settings but it was easier just to remove it.

The one con that this headset has is that it is terrible at keeping the noise to yourself. Other people in the room can hear what is coming out of the headset even when it's at a moderate volume. To solve this, I've told the other people to turn up the TV until it drowns me out. =)

"Excellent headset! Only 1 minor flaw...", I'm using this headset to do character voicing for a children's book. The headphone sound is quite good for a headset at this price. You could pay a lot more and not get much better. And the connecting flexibility with the USB adapter is a big plus. The only problem i have with this headset is that the boom microphone could be either a bit longer or have some sort of extension in order to be properly positioned closer to the mouth for better audio input. Thanks Sennheiser! Great product! I would buy from them again!

"A wonderful piece of headset", This is my second Sennheiser-made headphone/headset. My first one was HD 485 and I am still using it. Lovely headphone.

I bought this PC 166 USB Headset mainly for VOIP, even though it says it's a gaming headset. While I havent used it for gaming, I certainly have for VOIP, and the result has blown me away (and for that matter the people at the other end).

The headset is very comfortable, adjustable, and yet very sturdy. The sound quality is crisp, fine-tuned, and clear. It also comes with a very handy USB plugin, which has a high level of audio capability, and also a volume and mute adjustable attached to the cord near your hands. So, if you dont want to reach to your speaker or microphone controls, this will do the trick.

I have also listened to music with this headset, and the result is no less remarkable than of VOIP.

To cut it short, I am very happy that my expectations of this headset were borne out. I will stick to Sennheiser products in the future.

"Good Sound, but no noise canceling", The audio quality is very good as far as I can tell and the mic seems to work well enough, but there isn't any detectable noise canceling - and I'm not sure how it could do active noice canceling without drawing power from the USB port. Also, it's described as a USB headset but instead it's connectors are for audio jacks and it comes with an extra USB adapter for them.

"Clean sounding and comfortable", In the case of this Sennheiser headset you get what you pay for. They are surprisingly comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and strike a good balance between letting enough external sound in to keep you connected to your surroundings but also having enough volume to not be overwhelmed by it.

It's great to have the option of a single USB connection or separately connecting sound out/mic in. The connecting cable is long enough to be practical, and has a handy volume control wheel to quickly bump the sound up or down without being overly-sensitive.

Bass is warm with some heft to it, although maybe not quite enough for everyone's tastes. The sound overall is balanced and clean, and high enough quality that make them more than suitable for listening to music too.

If you anticipate getting lots of use out of these, whether for gaming and/or music listening then they're worth the premium price. More casual users may get sufficient bang-for-the-buck with a less expensive headset.
