"Okay"
Thought this game is similiar to Gears of War but turned out to be "tournament" game "duh". Campaign is pretty much like "tournament" except with storyline. Graphic and gameplay is very intense. Personnaly don't like fast moving game; give me headache. If you like Counter Strike then I recommend this game.

"Is it possible to improve on UT2004? Yes..."
I love UT2004. At first I was skeptical that UT3 would be anywhere near as good. Plus I was worried that my less than super duper PC wouldn't handle the graphics. I've got 4GB on a P4 3.2 with a NVidia6800. Well UT3 is awesome. The graphics are similar to Gears of War. The game play is good old UT with some really nice improvements. I do miss some of the old game types but overall this game gets 5 stars. Strong work Epic!

"Nice update"
Having played a couple prior UT versions, UT3 is a nice update. The maps are eye candy and very detailed. Character models are more sophisticated, with more customizable armor, helmets, etc. All this probably requires relatively recent hardware. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4 and Nvidia 8800 GTS. The vehicles are a mix of familiar and alien. The landscapes are decidedly alien and/or futuristic. Gameplay is strong and rapid, as before. The arcade-style action of the earlier versions remains intact, but it's more detailed and prettier. It's also possible to just jump in and start fragging, making it a very accessible game to the casual user. That's always been a strong suit for UT, and it remains so in UT3.

"Frantic Pace..."
The game is nice enough, but the pace of it is frantic. It seems like it is moving way to fast to be able to actually navigate and aim. I've played my share of FPS, and I felt like a button pusher on this one. Not bad if you are into that I guess!

"UT3 - great fun without too much involvement"
UT3 is a fast first person shooter with tons of action, lots of great maps, and a low level of involvement. It's a great game if you don't want to spend your life learning how to play and keeping up with your character and some of the time-sucking commitments required by other games. It's nothing more than killing the other guys - no deep strategies, building the troops, acquiring wealth, skill, or any other time-intensive activity. Gameplay is very fast and intense. It takes a few rounds to get the hang of it, but once you do, it's great fun.

What our customer's say!

"What a shame!", I've been a true fan of the UT series since the first version and each release has been brilliant, five stars all round. This version however was a real let down.

Granted, the graphics are out of this world and going back to play UT2004 afterwards is like going back to playing a 2D game almost. There are things I love in UT3 (which is why it doesn't get only one star) like the flack cannon, it's extra powerful and if you can get up to an enemy and use it point blank they get shredded and it's really satisfying. The new vehicles are okay, the new Necris Darkwalker is a highlight and they did well to make the Hellbender useable by one driver, in 2004 you weren't able to fire any weapons if you were in one on your own, but the game over all is a let down for several reasons.

First of all the style of the original games is missing completely. You can tell it's by the Gears of War people, every character in it is seriously muscular and/or wearing armour plating that's about 2 feet thick. That's fine for one or two characters to choose from, but to have no choice in having an athletic looking character..?

They've also done away with the whole futuristic sports theme and that's weird because it's the name of the game - TOURNAMENT! It's now all about battles and fighting in situations that make no sense at all, but would have still made sense in the TOURNAMENT context. I don't see any reason why they strayed from the original concept. The single player game was ridiculous as it seems everyone agrees, but even that can't have been the reason why they changed the theme, can it? - if it was, then the single player campaign was an even worse crime than it seemed, because the group of mercenaries could have done the same things for their employers in the context of a TOURNAMENT in which they were trying to win money.. I don't know, I was going to try and not mention the useless single player game because it's irrelevant anyway because I bought this for the multiplayer experience.

But it's the multiplayer experience that is the real let down. Absolutely everything else I've mentioned could have been easily forgiven if the on-line games actually worked. For me playing any version of UT was about the stats. That's what attracted me to this series in the first place. I've played other on-line shooters, like Call of Duty 2 and the Half Life games on-line and other things like them, but these never competed with UT for one reason - with UT, everything you do gets recorded on the permanent stats record for your character - in this version? Well, maybe one game in every three, if you're lucky, sometimes you can play games for several days and not get a single one recorded. That's what really annoys me. It's the most frustrating thing to have got some really good kill to death ratios sorted out and some top awards received in a game and then you go and check your stats and nothing's there. I've tried to not care about the stats and to just enjoy the games for their own sake, but I can't. For me it's all about the stats. I've tried going back to UT2004, which faithfully records everything, but it's just not the same after you've experienced the things you do like about UT3. I've been mailing the tech support people constantly ever since I bought this product. They're very quick at responding, which is great (in the past I've e-mailed tech support for other games and never got one reply) but they've not been able to do anything for me to fix this. I've followed all their advice, but it never made a difference and after my last mail they said they had to give up on me as they were out of ideas.. well I gave up on this game at that stage too. It's a real shame. I'd look for a refund if I thought it were possible.

So if you like UT and you don't ever look at your on-line stats, then I'd say give it a go, because it's a good game at the end of the day, maybe not a worthy successor to the previous UT incarnations, but fun if you don't care about the stats.

If, like me, however, the point in playing UT is to see what you've done on the stats board and to always be trying to improve on what you managed to achieve in the past then don't buy this. Stick with UT2004 and keep enjoying it. I'm amazed they haven't switched the stats recording off on that product to be honest - they switched of the original UT stats when they brought out UT2003 after all.

"WAY Better than TF2!!!!", I just bought TF2 and what a piece of cr@p! UT3 is actually FUN! Definitely try the demos of each before you buy. I wish I had and not wasted $20 on TF2. Here is a game of TF2 in a nutshell: Pick a cool looking character that you can imagine you'll have all kinds of fun with. Run out and get shot by the crazy mayhem in the first 30 seconds. Wait 22 seconds. Repeat. That;s it, that's the whole game. The game makes you wait 22 seconds each time. Why??? Who knows. It is just worthless. UT3 has all kinds of strategy that makes it insanely fun. It's probably more addictive than crack. Buy it!

"unreal tournament 3", This product looks great but the gameplay has change from ut2004 that it is no longer as fun. This try was much hyped and I was let down being that I have played ut games from the beginning.

"UT3", Lots of fun to play if you are into shooting things. The vehicles are pretty sweet and the guns are all classic UT staples. There aren't as many maps as I would have liked but since it comes with map creation tools there are lots of possibilities.

"Lots of eye candy", game has lots of eye candy, very health machine needed to be able to enjoy, check system requirements. I started with nvidia 8600GT 265mb and it lagged, upgraded to Nvidia 9600GT 512mb plays great. dedicated server is a little difficult to set up but is do-able. My current system is a core 2 duo 2.4Ghz over clocked to 2.88Ghz, 2048mb ram DDR2 800 Mhz, 9600GT 512mb with raided sata drives. plays great. If you have an off the shelf or 2 year old computer more than likely it will not run on you machine. In other words it will not run on your family pc, get a true gamer machine.

"Warning do not buy this game!!", If you have a router and plan on running your own server so you and your friends can go head to head like the old 99 Ut , think agian. Even if you know how to port forward, epic programed the game to throw its hands up in the air and say, oh no Nat on a router who would ever do such a thing. Disabling it doesnt work, countless hours google-ing. Nothing , absolute trash. I am thinking of demanding my money back from best buy... Thanks epic, you really let the Ut fans down.
$50.00 bucks less for me, and a $50 dollar rip off in your wallet.

"Awesome game on an old AIW X800XT", This game is a lot of fun! I have been a fan of Unreal Tournament since the beginning and this latest version doesn't let you down.

I am playing on an old AIW X800XT and have the settings at medium and my frame rates are around 40-50 with an E4400 OC'ed to 2.7 GHz.

I find that this game is a little darker and harder to see around then previous versions, and the bots are a lot better, or I am a lot worse. lol.

I have the bots set to average and I have a tough time. I eventually win, but I don't dominate them. I must be getting old. lol. Maybe I need a bigger monitor, my 19" Samsung LCD is getting old.

I love the Vehicle Capture the flag, it is a lot of fun, and I enjoy using the hover board! It is cool, slaloming and jumping and hanging on the backs of vehicles. It's a bummer when you get hit and are stunned for a couple seconds.

Warfare is a lot of fun as well. Like I said previously, this game hasn't been easy for me, which makes it more fun.

I am still trying to learn the maps, which hasn't been easy for me. I easily find the main route to their flag, but it is the less traveled, backway paths that I am trying to learn.

I love the fact that UT3 can still be played with a 3 yr old video card, unlike a lot of the new games, that require such high end hardware.

I may buy an 8800 GT since they are under $200 and see how much prettier everything looks!

I haven't played online yet, since I feel like I need much more practice...lol

If you loved UT2K4, then you will also love UT3!

Buy it and enjoy!!!

"even Epic is embarassed", This game is horrible, especially for PC. They've even said they are going to concentrate on console gaming since the PC gaming world is in disarray. This was their excuse for putting out an unfinished product. Don't expect any Linux Server that works cause you won't find it. The graphics look like the artists ate a whole bunch of red and brown food and barfed on the monitor. Truly a disappointment after all the waiting, will stick with UT2004 which is now like $9.99? and still a MASTERPIECE.
I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it and it REALLY applies in this case.
I wasted my money, want my copy??

"Are you kidding me? UT3 is mediocrity incarnate...", Okay, so to begin, I'm as die-hard of an Unreal fan as it gets -- ever since my introduction to the game at the tender age of 10, I've been quite the Unreal afficionado. I eagerly anticipated the releases of UT2K3 (which wasn't amazing, but I certainly enjoyed it) and UT2K4 (best game of 2004). So naturally, I awaited UT3's release in wide-eyed awe as the days counted down to the release of the game. Come early November, I was in total dismay at the product that Epic attempted to pass off at Unreal Tournament 3.

At first, the game had horrendously demanding system requirements. My machine was getting pretty old (a Pentium D 925 and a GeForce 7800GS) so it was high time to upgrade. After upgrading to a Core 2 Quad and GeForce 8800GT, my performance issues were solved, but I was left wondering, "why does this game require so much processing power"? Where were the real time shadowing on every piece of geometry as was promised in the original UE3 demos? Where were the dynamic lighting, destructable environments, and ground-breaking physics? The extent of the game's graphical splendor lies solely in that it has neat "blurring" effects when under water/slime. Other than that, DOOM 3 and Half Life 2 are quite honestly not much worse looking than this game-- and they ran flawlessly on my old computer. Meh, so graphics I'd rate, perhaps, a 8/10. However, graphics hardly account for what I think of a game -- I still have a BLAST with the original DOOM, which has total crap for visuals by today's standards.

The story that is provided is really, REALLY, cheesy. Okay, so apparently some clan is at war with a team of undead aptly called the "Necris". Funny thing is about this war is that, uh, nobody actually dies! What the hell kind of battle field is it where your dead soldiers are saved by respawners? Epic should have stuck with the whole sports/competition theme that was prevalent in the earlier installations of Unreal Tournament -- at least that was somewhat believable. Meh, UT isn't about the single player game anyway, but the SP game here certainly wasn't as nicely done as that found in UT and UT2004.

So, the multiplayer gameplay is what this game's all about, and it's here that UT3 shows its shortcomings relative to the older titles. UT and UT2004 both had a plethora of game modes, and there were many high quality, brilliant maps for your gaming pleasure -- UT3 is not so. Its maps are generic, to say the least, and there just aren't that many of them. Furthermore, the only game modes available in UT3 are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Vehicle Capture the Flag, and Warfare. This is in stark contrast to UT2004's plethora of modes, including assault, onslaught, invasion, bombing run, CTF, deathmatch, team deathmatch, mutant, etc. The previous game just was so much MORE of a game. It had more maps, more modes, and it was just better. UT3 looks, aesthetically, better than its predecessor, but who the hell plays a game for only looks?

So, I'd say steer clear of this atrocity unless you're really itching to have a complete collection of Unreal games. But, quite honestly, the Unreal Anthology -- with UT, UT2004, Unreal, and Unreal 2 -- is only $[...] on amazon and is much better. Hell, the anthology would be more of a value even at the price of UT3.

So, if you already have UT2004, don't buy this. If you don't have UT2004, don't buy this and get the Anthology with the groundbreaking UT and the amazing UT2004. Stay away from this trash until it his $[...] in the bargain bin.

"Is What i was looking for", It arrived on time, in the conditions promised, so i guess i have to say that it meets my expectations.
