"Don't mix this product with Leopard!"
After spending two days struggling with Quicken 2007 on my new MacBook and four hours following troubleshooting instructions from Quicken's tech support (yes, it is very third world), I have given up. "Something is corrupting your file," the second tech said. Brilliant conclusion: no keyboard entry was possible in one of the registers, and the balances were changing before my very eyes in all of the registers as I moved among them. No amount of index-rebuilding, exporting the file from Quicken 2004 and importing it into Quicken 2007, deleting accounts and creating new ones, even completely reinstalling Quicken 2007 got rid of these problems. Finally the second tech admitted that the problem--repeated corruption of the data file converted from Quicken for Mac 2004 on my old PowerBook--was probably Mac OS 10.5--10.5.2, in my case. The old G4 PowerBook, running Quicken 2004 under Tiger, now sits on my desk beside its new MacBook mate. Apparently I will have to run two Macs: the PowerBook will have to serve as my Quicken machine for the foreseeable future. I'm certainly glad I did our taxes (with TurboTax and Quicken 2004) on the PowerBook!

"Better than the reviews suggest!"
I had avoided buying a new version of Quicken for my Mac based on the long string of lousy reviews I've seen on this and other sites, but I recently was forced to upgrade when I bought my new MacBook. The old version simply would not work on my new machine. I wish now I had upgraded sooner!

It installed without a hitch and did a good job importing my (very) old QData files into the new version. I ran into a small problem getting it set up to download transactions directly from my credit union due to ambiguous account numbering which resulted in transactions going into the wrong accounts, but I just started over, reimported and voila!

I have set up my accounts for direct download from both CU and credit card companies. The set up is easy and works flawlessly. I have also set up for bill pay through my CU. Again, a snap.

Perhaps if I had used the PC version of Quicken I would be disappointed but I have not and I am not. This new version has hugely simplified my personal accounting and much reduced the amount of time it takes.

I highly recommend this product

"Best software for personal finances for the Mac OS-X."
After reading many negative reviews, I decided to investigate the alternatives before buying a personal finance manager for my Mac OS-X and downloaded their respective programs and installed them. They were all worse than Quicken and with lesser capabilities; some even crashed the uncrashable Mac OS-X. I had to remove the battery and unplug the machine for it to get out of the total freeze.

Finally I went to the store and purchased Quicken 2007 for the Mac. It installed without any problems and works just fine.

What is somewhat cumbersome is to migrate the data from your PC to your Mac, if you already have a PC version of Quicken. There is a pdf file that you have to download from Quicken which explains the process in detail. Without reading that file it is impossible to figure out the migration procedure.

Once installed and the data migrated, it is a breeze. It works just fine. The feel is different from the PC, mainly because of the differences in the user interface of the Mac, but not because of bugs or defects. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, only because having become accostumed to the PC version for so many years, it felt somewhat awkward at the beginning.

If you are used to the Quicken for the PC, and to the reports, the data entry and the reconciliation procedures, you will not be happy with any of the alternatives. Quicken 2007 for the Mac is still better than all other programs on the market.

"Does what it's supposed to do"
Very user friendly. Easy to set up and the widget is a cool little add-on. Definitely worth it.

"Save your money"
Having used three different versions of Quicken over the years I find that they have become progressively worse. In the 2007 quicken for the Mac this is the worse one yet. It appears that the developers have gotten lost in the high finance end and this program no longer functions well as an instrument for keeping one's check book. Some of the issues are:
Screen display not adjustable so you can barley read the characters on a 20 inch screen.
The bell or chi-ching is gone so you have to look to make sure your entry happened.
The payee field will not pop up instead they make you go back into the menu and pull it up.
Deleting an entry is now extra work.

And the list goes on and on. In short they need to learn to walk before taking on space flight!

What our customer's say!

"Save Your Money", This product is junk--difficult to use. You are working for the software instead of vice versa. Clumsy handling of data and poor screen presentation. Sorry I wasted my money.

"What a Disaster!", Recently bought my wife a new Macbook and did not realize that converting from Windows Quicken to Quicken for MAC would be a disaster. The files do not convert properly. Ten years of transactions are screwed up. Intuit should be ashamed of themselves for selling this product as Quicken. There should be a warning label on the Quicken for MAC box that the Windows Quicken files are not compatible. What a waste of money. The only choice now is to run Windows on the MAC and Quicken for Windows.

"Not Great, But...", Having been a long-time Windows Quicken user, it seemed only natural to purchase Quicken Mac 2007 when switching from Windows to Mac. I have to admit that it doesn't look like Intuit put much thought into this product. It does not look or act much like most any other Mac application, however, it does get the job done and without too much hassle. I understand they are working on a new, more Mac-friendly, version to be released in late '08 and I look forward to seeing it.

"Quicken 07 for Macs", this is a watered down version of quicken for pc's -- instead consider ibank for mac.

"It's good for some things", Well I feel the need to come to poor Quicken 2007's rescue! :) I had been happily using Quicken 1998 on my G3 for about 10 years now with no problem. I've used Macs since the very beginning in the early 90's. I've used PCs also but you know the old saying, "Once you go Mac, you never go back!" :) So I've just upgraded to a MacBook Pro and needed upgraded software. I was at first put off Quicken by the negative reviews. Also their website is VERY user unfriendly and both myself and my husband, who works in the computer industry, found it very difficult to navigate through to get what we wanted (a 30-day free trial). So instead I bought iBank and then a 30-day free trial of Moneydance. Both programs drove me mad. It's like they presumed to know more about my finances than I did and wouldn't let me execute certain actions I was used to in Quicken. VERY frustrating. So I finally caved in and just bought Quicken. It loaded fine and works fine and I've been very happy with it so far. However I must admit that I ONLY use it for reconciling my checking and savings accounts. Nothing else. If you want to use it for something else, you might want to read what the other posters here have to say. Otherwise, if you are used to working on Macs and have used Quicken before and only use it for simple reconciling, then I can certainly recommend Quicken.

"Quicken - Good Personal Finance Software for the Mac", I have owned different versions of Quicken since the early days. I think 2007 version is very good for what I need it for. For some reason, it still crashes on occasion - I don't know if this is because my data file could be corrupt or if that file is too big - I tend to keep many years of data in each file. There are some new features that the 2005 version didn't have that I like.

"Great Software - Great Company", I have always thought of Quicken as sort of one of those programs you use but don't get enthused about. After all, it manages your money, something you have to do.

Recently I had a hard drive fail completely and thought my stuff was backed-up. Turns out it wasn't. No surprise there but Quicken backs-up to your .Mac account (sorry Windows sufferers, you lose again) every time you use the software.

My financial data was 100% backed-up and secure and I was able to resume without a hitch. I've had zero issues with the software before this experience but this made me realize how powerful a tool this can be - imagine losing all your financial stuff?

"A BAD PROGRAM - At least they have a 60-day money back guarantee", I used to have a PC and used MS Money. It was a very good program. Now I have a Mac and I switched to Quicken. This is a VERY BAD PROGRAM. As an example, in 30 minutes this morning, it shut down on me 6 times! One of those times it even corrupted the file so I had to go to a back-up copy. I NEVER had any problems like this with MS Money. Makes me actually wish I hadn't switched to Mac! The only good thing I see is that Quicken's website says they have a 60-day money back guarantee. I haven't tried it yet, so I hope I don't get problems returning it like I have using it!!!!

"This program is awful.", DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. As a new Mac user I was looking forward to moving my Quicken data from windows to mac. As a Quicken user of many years I thought the move would be easy. This program is awful. It is not at all intuitive. The sorting doesn't work. The data had to be saved in a new format within windows before exporting to mac vs converting it upon installation. I think I'm going to use the windows partition (in Parallels) and use the windows version. This program is less than useless.

"DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. KNOWN ISSUES LIMIT FUNCTIONALITY", Do NOT buy this product. There are known issues that prevent you from registering this product. As a result, you will not have 100% functionality. I have dealt with Intuit customer service and they are of no use. They say that the only way to register is through the program, and they know it does not work. I am extremely disappointed with Intuit.
