WARNING IF YOU DOWNLOAD MONEY PLUS FREE TRIAL AND USE IT, THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU. WE PURCHASED A NEW COMPUTER (VISTA) AND DOWNLOADED THE FREE TRIAL WITHOUT A PROBLEM, I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL ON THIS SOFTWARE FROM AMAZON HOWEVER IT WILL NOT INSTALL. MICROSOFT SUPPORT TOLD ME THAT MONEY PLUS TRIAL IS A 2008 VERSION AND WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE IT IS OLDER. NOW I HAVE TO TRY TO RETURN IT TO MICROSOFT BECAUSE IT IS OPEN.

"worth the money"
I was looking for something to help me get ahold of my finances, and I found it. its easy to understand and most helpful. I reccomend it to anyone who wants more control of their money. my only complaint is that I wish it came with more instructions on all the things it can do.

"No more basketball checks"
I use Microsoft Money 2007 Deluxe to track my savings and checking account. Before I got this product I bounced a check and after installing it I recorded all of my information. It now shows me an accurate balance so if I make an error in addition or subtraction in my checkbook, it will catch the error before I bounce another check.

I converted from and older version of Money and everything looked fine until I tried to pay a bill on line. It gave me some cryptic error and I was able to look up the error on the user forum. After trying all recommendations it still did not work. After many frustrating hours it finally started working. What made it work is beyond me but you hate to have problems with software right out of the box. Especialy with a mature product.

"Personal-finance Software - MS Money"
Personal-finance software these days is a good example of a modern near-monopoly. There are only two players, at least for the pc: Quicken and MS Money. MS Money's on-line service now expires after two years, so I am forced to upgrade whether I want to or not. I understand Quicken is the same. I thought about getting an Apple computer, but the on-line reviews seem to say that the personal-finance software for Apple is even worse.

I became dependent on such software over the years having started with a DOS program touted by Andrew Tobias called Managing Your Money (MYM). That company was bought-out by, I believe, H & R Block, but the software disappeared. MYM was in my opinion the best product ever for personal use, even taxes. It was common-sense stuff and understandable, and it came with a good newsletter. When you made a change, you could follow its effects and fix conflicts.

I tried Quicken after that and didn't like it. Then I went to MS Money which seemed a little better, but not much. I just upgraded from MS Money 2004 Deluxe to MS Money 2007 Deluxe. The program is now so complex I sometimes loose confidence in the numbers, but not so much that I would abandon it.

The installation of the 2007 version went OK except that I have two separate MS Money files (one is a trust for which I am trustee) and the program confused the two in setting up the on-line links. In other words, it down-loaded information for both files in one program, a problem I never had with the 2004 version. It took me over an hour to sort it out because I finally figured out I had a preferred stock classified as a bond in one file and as a stock in another. When I tried to reconcile the double entry the program said "I can't", but didn't tell me why.

The new program pretty much does just what my old one does, but in a different format that I now have to learn. I think these are changes made only to justify new versions. There is a lot more advertising in the new version, usually in the guise of "advice" and the program is a little more sluggish than the old one. Some features are worse and many old habits are toast. For example, in the 2004 version one had the ability to switch between investment accounts in the Account Summary view by right-clicking the account name. In the 2007 version you have to switch into the Investment Transaction view to do this. Bottom line, I am paying in both money and frustration for an extension of the on-line down-loading service.

Andrew Tobias, why have you abandoned us?
