"Runs awesome under VISTA with Virtual PC!"
We are actually running Peachtree Permium Accounting 2006 for Manufacturing, but I assume the same applies. Sage indicates that 2006 is not supported for VISTA and that 2007 may be...problem solved: Microsoft Virtual PC.[...]
Peachtree runs better on the new hardware/software config than it did on our previous machine with just XP Pro.

"Support Poor - Sage doesn't update"
The folks who say Peachtree is NOT compatible with Windows Vista - ARE 100% CORRECT. My company does software, networking, servers, etc. and Peachtree is by far the worst we've seen. You can get it to run but it will be far from stable (read as: work one day and not the next). But by far the worst problem is Sage software (Peachtree's parent company). In addition to Peachtree they own a number of larger accounting software titles and they, not Peachtree, will get priority in all new development. So all the owners and purchasers of Peachtree will just have to wait in line. If you buy this package and try to run on Windows Vista, don't say you were not warned. To those who say it will run on Vista, I say don't give folks false hope, there is a big difference in being able to run and being able to run correctly. Now if I can just get down off this soapbox without falling....

"Vista Compatibility"
It is Vista Compatible! There is a patch for the 2007 software.
I've been using this program for a long time now and prefer it over all the other accounting programs. It does have a few quirks, but nothing that someone with an accounting background and knowledge of the software can't tweak!

"NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA!"
Well, besides the fact that it's a gigantic install (we had to upgrade the RAM on our computers to 1 GB for this one) and grossly inefficient, it's NOT compatible with Windows Vista. Tech support said I needed to buy the Premium version, which is completely overkill. I think it's time to look at Quickbooks for our company.

"I learned it in a weekend"
Had to learn this program in a weekend. Then, clean up the books by Monday. I did it without much sleep.

Once you learn it's style of entry, its fast. I spend no more than an hour a day on the Peach now with no book keeper.

I bought the support contract and have only used it once in six months. The guy helped me modify what printed on the payroll and a/p checks. I have since modified my financial statements on my own.

Maybe my success was 'cuz I know accounting. All this bitchin about PeachTree seems weird??!! I guess you love it or hate it.

What our customer's say!

"Peachtree 2007 is very disappointing, especially the lack of support", We have used Peachtree for a few years now and I can't wait for the day that I get to change to a better system. Quickbooks wont work because I have multitiered customers (thought peachtree handles that aspect poorly). I have continual glitches that Peachtree just says "will be fixed in a later version" which will cost me 1000.00.
The support is also very expensive, too expensive to purchase a service plan for what is already a very expensive product. I wouldn't have even given it 1 star but there is no negative so 1 will have to do.
The ONLY reason they have my business right now is that they can, in a way, handle multitiered customers.

"Peachtree premium account for nonprofits", Documentation is so slim that setup tasks are possible only for the simplest arrangements. Setting up sub-accounts, for instance, is not explained. This is true for the setup guide, user's guide, on-screen documentation, and online knowledgebase. I have found answers to only the most rudimentary questions but nothing for most of my questions. Furthermore, support usually takes an hour to connect and is only available Monday through Friday. Have you ever known an accountant whose most important questions come during regular business hours? They work late and on weekends because they need to overcome problems.

During my setup, each key stroke took 3 seconds for Peachtree to accept, although I'm running a dual-core, 64-bit, 2GB system. Overcoming that limitation is the only solution I've gotten so far, but even that took two days and three calls. Now to set up my company, but I've had the software for more than two weeks and I haven't yet been able to complete that.

I'm so frustrated that I've given Sage Software an ultimatum--give me satisfaction (in two days because I'm looking for answers on Saturday) or give me my money back.

"Do not pay for this or even accept this product for free", I have never experienced such frustration with a piece of software than that from this product. From the installation taking extremely long, bogging down resources, corrupting other pieces of installed software such as Access and SQL databases running at the same time as the Pervasive software installed with Peachtree, being incompatible with Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition (A great product which my business has used for over ten years and not once been disatisfied), being incompatible with the latest OS that is out at any given time, the most difficult upgrades for taxes (almost impossible in a multi user environment), a built-in backup utility that does not allow you to backup your forms (only ledgers), and having to pay for support that only results in their helpdesk telling me that if I were to purchase Peachtree Premium for both the server and each client (in the multi user environment) or for one single client with their own ledgers that the upgrade would "most likely" perform the repair that the repair function in the software I own isn't able to be successful at. DO NOT BUY. I am sorry for making this purchase and spending the money I have on the original product, an upgrade to Peachtree Complete, the Upgrade with Multi User, and the support plan.

"No email for invoices", Have you ever tried to e-mail an invoice to anyone. The application creates a PDF of about 9 or 10 kb, allows you to specify "to" and "from," but then doesn't send anything thing. Also, 9 or 10 kb seems much too small for a PDF invoice.
Other than that, 2007 is a minor improvement over the previous version (2002)I had. Granted, I don't use very many of the features. I actually liked MYOB on my old Mac better.
Also, this application gives you very little ability to modify the appearance of invoices; less than my old MYOB.

"Best in the price range, not for everyone", Having worked for several small companies going back 15 years I have used many accounting software programs, all the way back to Peachtree for DOS. I have also used Quickbooks which is the competitive product, sort of. If you are an accountant Peachtree at this price is the best product available. In addition Sages full line of products allows you to step up to a higher end program(if the need ever arises) with the same look and feel as Peachtree so if your company grows bigger the learning curve in the long run could be less. This version, as it is, does most things programs costing thousands of dollars more will do.
It is definately easiest for those that know accounting. For example, someone mentioned the cost of the Payroll service and how much it is but you can do ALL your payroll for free using the user-maintained tables and tax rates. I find it simple and incredibly functionable and do payroll for free. However, Quickbooks is easier for a novice, I have clients that use quickbooks and even though Peachtree is a better product I would not even mentioning switching because it would be more headache than it's worth. Also, Peachtree is not as forgiving with errors, which is a good thing to me. I will say clents with Quickbooks generally have a complete mess in there file as quickbooks makes it very easy to just do watever you want and I'm amazed what I find in there sometimes. You basically have 2 options in this price range, 1) get Peachtree and take the time to learn it. or 2) If you want an easy out of the box solution just get Quickbooks as it will do what most people want it to do with less learning. Where Peachtree slacks(and makes a 5 start program 4 stars) is customer service is pay after 30 days and the fervor to copy-protect can sometimes make installation a hassle, especially on a network. Also, 2007 is only semi-compatible with Vista and requires a special download though the 2008 version out in June 07 is "Works with Vista" compatible or so they say.
Peachtree is powerful, likely more powerful and harder to learn out of the box than a sole proprietorship would need. If you are a business big enough to have an accountant or bookkeeper on staff Peachtree would likely be something to strongly consider. I personally think it's a great product.

"Difficult for a novice", I have found this accounting software to be very inflexible and unforgiving when it comes to mistakes. Although my CPA likes it I would have been better off with Quick Books....

"Poor Quality; Poor Support; Poor Product", I purchased the software for my small business with the intention of upgrading from quick books.

The Peachtree software states it can convert data from a quick books file. I had numerous problems with this feature, leading to 3 calls to technical support which took way too long to resolve. I was on hold for at least 25 minutes for each call before someone answered my call.

This combined with the fact that you only get a paltry 30 days of tech support before the company tries to sell you a service support plan shows an utter lack of regard for providing a quality product for customers.

My data would not fully convert because I opted for the cash accounting method when using quick books, and peachtree requires a 4 digit account number for every blessed account and sub account and sub account of a subaccount.

In short, the program is too rigid and can't be customized to give me what I want in an accounting platform. Service was lousy--after a cumulative 2 hours on hold or on the phone with a support rep the problems were not resolved.

I recommend against this software!

"Another Reason Why I HATE Accounting!!! (Rating: 2 out of 10- -1.5 stars )", First and formost: I don't have the entire program. I have the trial version. I'm not sure how much that is modified from the actual version of this software, but I had to download it for my class.

Right away "Peachtree Accounting" gave me problems. First the installment, which took quite possibly the longest time ever (I think about 2 and a half hours). Second was the fact that once you start your program and enter the month and year that you want to start on, you can't go back and change it, unless you start your entire project over. For example: If you accidentally enter June 2005 in the part where you want to begin the program, and you ment June 2006, you're going to have a problem. And I pray for you if you journalized all your entries before you realized the problem (like I did...luckly I didn't have that many journal entries to do). One big problem is that this takes up a huge chunk of your hard drive space (the trial version is 388 megabites, I can't imagine what the CD will do). Also if you leave the program up and running with your internet explorer up at the same time and your computer goes into the screen saver. It will cause your system to run EXTREMELY slow. It took me 3 hours to get my computer back to normal.

Overall, I can't recommend this program to anyone. The trial version that I have is supposed to persuade people to purchase the program, but so far it has persuaded me to avoid software from this company. In fact I found no significance within this prgram at all. This is what happens when you go to college and have to take accounting classes because they are apart of your major. You have to download stuff like this. Avoid if possible.

Not that this matters, but the trial version allows you to open the program up to a total of 10 times, before you are forced to make a decision. But you'll probably end up uninstalling it by the 4th time you open it.

Peace!

"Peachtree Pro hard to install - not for me!", I purchased Peachtree Pro to use in my small business. Right out of the box, I am having problems installing the software. After three attempts to load it, I finally called Peachtree Customer Service and am in no better shape than I was before I called. After waiting on hold for greater than 30 minutes, I worked with a tech specialist for over an hour, but no resolution to the problem could be found. The main issue is "conflicts with firewalls." Even with firewalls disabled, the program would not load. I have now wasted more than 6 hours and still do not have a reliable accounting program.

"Peachtree problems", A lovely program, if you want to pay a fortune to get their fancy formulas for computing payroll taxes ($259.00 year & no they do not prorate) All the tax charts in the world will not help you, as the formulas use only specific words (not regular spreadsheet computations). If you want to track bills, invoice & inventory it might be okay, but there are better programs available for alot less.
