"Happy so far"
I've mainly been a PC user, but recently decided to try an Apple laptop. Overall, I like the more reliable Apple, and except for a few things that I miss from the PC world, it's a fine laptop.

However, there were several things I wanted to mention that could be better:

1. The screen brightness is sensitive to the viewing angle, especially up and down, although not so much side to side. I haven't noticed a problem with this on a PC based laptop in many years.

2. Macs apparently lack the right click shortcuts for the mouse, since there's only one mouse button, which I find less convenient.

3. This is a minor point, but when you click on History when using Safari, you don't get a list of your links, but have to make one more choice, depending on what you want. I'd prefer just to get a drop-down list of all my URLs at that point, rather than having to make one more step.

4. Finally, the keyboard feel is pretty good, but I'd prefer smaller keys like on most PC laptops. The bigger keys feel a bit clumsy and slow down my typing.

Overall, though, I'm very happy with the unit and think it's a good product.

"Really nice total package"
My daughters had both saved money for about a year for a computer. I had to decide to go the Windows path or to go with Apple. (We use both in our office and as the owner of the company I'm the default IT guy.)
We could have bought equivalent processing speed and features about 20% cheaper with Windows, but I would be the one who had to maintain the things so we went with these MacBooks.
One of the best decisions I've made this year.
They worked great out of the box for what the girls wanted to do. My wife used one and now doesn't want to touch my Dell laptop. She was shocked when she saw how easy it was to save a document as a PDF file or setup a new printer.
We downloaded NeoOffice and that works well.
Only challenge was setting up the wireless network. Nowhere in our Netgear wireless router documentation does it tell you the PassKey is in Hex. Luckily the Mac shows hexidecimal as an option so once I saw that the job was done.
Terrific product for us

"Good, but a crappy casing"
I have switched from PC to Mac and do not regret it. Great features, lightweight, stylish, creative. It works for me. However, I have had mine for 3 months and the plastic casing where your wrist sits when you type has chipped off and is now coming apart in slivers of white plastic. I currently have medical tape covering it to stop the ripping and to give my hand something to sit on without cutting my hand on sharp plastic.

Quite pathetic to have a 3 month old machine with tape on it.

"This unit rocks!!!"
This laptop is just the neatest thing. Wireless setup was extremely easy, it walks you thru it.

"Great Laptop"
Great Laptop. Works better than any windows based Laptop I have had, and it has enough memory to run Windows Boot Camp too!

What our customer's say!

"why is the MA700LL/A much more expensive than the newer model?", i have had this model since early 2007, and have babied it since day 1.
even before i received the laptop, i had purchased the Applecare extended warranty, a Speck crystal clear plastic case, a full keypad/wristrest polymer protector...
and besides the two times i openned the battery compartment (once to upgrade the RAM to 2GB, and the other time to upgrade the hard drive to 120GB), this laptop has been in its case.
to quote a car commercial:

"every time i turn on my MacBook, it definitely turns me on!" :o)

it runs like a dream..., (i've had a Mac performa 5200, fujitsu i-4xxx, fujitsu N-3010, and fujitsu-6231 laptops and this MacBook has treated me the best!)

it's light, fast, dependable, syncs well with my Treo 755p, runs my school apps perfectly...

the ONLY real setback is that it is an intel-Mac and as such, i cannot run any of my older Mac OS-9/classic apps. So i've had to keep my trusty Apple 15" powerbook for those apps. I know that there is an app called SheepShaver that may allow me to run Mac-OS 9/classic apps, but haven't tried it yet.

i'll probably sell my MacBook so i can buy the newer version, MB0062LL/B so i was wondering why the MA700LL/A lists at over $1,700.00 while the newer MB0062LL/B lists for only $1,299.00???

any ideas???
blue skies and happy holidays!

"CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT", I received my 13" MacBook as a Birthday gift about 6 months ago and I absolutely ADORE it! I am on this thing constantly (literally hours a day) and take it on the road. The size is great - compact and lightweight. The built-in iSight camera works great even in low-light situations. There's a ton of memory with all the applications running smoothly and quickly. Screen is brilliant with sharp graphics. The only con that I can think of is, being white, the keyboard area does show dirt/smudges after some use. Simple solutions - regular cleaning or a keyboard overlay (offered right here on Amazon). After using PCs forever this little Mac has easily converted me. I simply can't live without it!

"Pretty but not practical", First I believe it is the best good-looking laptop in the world. If you are an apple fan, no hesitation, buy it. Otherwise, first consider whether you will be familiar with TigerOS or not. I bought it and was always using windows XP instead.

"Get a Laptop for Christmas - Only $5 ", Get a Laptop for Christmas - Only $5

It would be madness to miss this unique opportunity to get a top of the range Macbook or Sony Vaio laptop for just $5 - yes, that's right - five bucks!

"First Apple Computer", This is my first Apple computer. I have used laptops for years, for work I have a high end IBM, and I have also owned a Dell, Gateway, and HP laptop in the past. By far, this is the best computer I have ever used. The best way I can describe the laptop, and Mac OSX experience is SIMPLE. Everything about using it just makes sense. Whereas with Windows you have to know what you are doing, you have all these controls, and everything is hidden. With my Apple and Mac OS, it is all very intuitive. If you have never used a computer before, this is the one for you. Of course, we all know that it is plenty powerful for the most advanced users.

The construction of the laptop itself is great. The outside has picked up some very light scratches, nothing major. I use a wireless Mighty Mouse, and I really like the functionality of it, but the trackpad works very well. I never pack the mighty mouse if I am taking my macbook away from my desk on a trip or to a cafe, etc.

While I worried about transitioning from Windows to Apple, I quickly got over that. Now I just hate having to use my IBM Windows laptop every day at the office.

"Love it, Love it, Love it!!",
This is my first Mac and I am thrilled with it. It is beautiful, fast, easy to navigate, lightweight and the graphics are so crisp and clear.

"Do Not Buy Computer Products from Amazon", I bought a MacBook from Amazon. It worked fine for 2 days until all of a sudden, it started to freeze up on me and shut off automatically. I tried to get apple to fix it, however, they said that buying from amazon voids all warranties as they are not an authorized retailer.

"My first Mac and I love it!", I just made the switch from a long history with PCs and I love this Macbook. Of course, it's the operating system that's the biggest factor, but I think it's a great notebook. The battery life is very good, about 3-4hrs, but of course depends on what I'm doing. The screen seems much bigger than I thought 13.3" would- and I'm coming down from my previous 17" laptop. I have had a few minor incidents that may have had something to do with something I did, but could be hardware related. I hope not, but for the most part it's been running very smoothly and I think we'll get a long very well. I'm having a great time discovering all the differences from my Windows machines and it seems each day I'm finding some little thing that makes me go "hmm- cool!". And I thought the white color would be pretty dirty by now (about a month later, with heavy daily use) but it's still clean. I was also a little hesitant about getting a Macbook instead of a Macbook Pro, especially since I'd always kept far away from integrated graphics- but I'm shocked at how well this machine handles all of OSX's eye-candy. I did bump the RAM up to 2GB which no doubt helps. But this notebook has much more power than I would have thought would be in their "lower-end" series. And I love the very portable size. I believe a new Mac fan has been born... :)

"macbook madness", I had to give in and buy a Mac,...I dont regret it one bit. These computers are simply amazingly user freindly. Im crazy about it. I just wish the built in speakers had more volume and that would come with MS Word and Office, instead of having to buy them seperatly.

"Great idea, sketchy Product", I got my Macbook about five months ago and it has crashed three times. It has been a hard drive failure every one of those times. But when you make a machine that is on such a small scale as this is you run into problems with very delicate moving parts. With such a small hard disc spinning so rapidly and a tiny drive head it's very easy to knock it off course or have it scrape the surface of the disc creating bad sectors.

I'm probably never going to own another Mac laptop for this reason but I'm sure I'll eventually purchase an iMac or some similar desktop computer. Other than this one issue I've had with the product everything else about it was superb. If they had a more durable hard disks in them I would rate this product five stars, but until then, three stars is all I have to offer.

The only other problem I had with this computer was with it overheating, the fan only comes on when it's really working hard and there is no way to change that (as far as I know). If you set it on your lap or any other soft surface it will over heat due to circulation problems caused by no air being able to pass under the machine, renduring the word "laptop" useless.(it has the information about this little over-looked problem on the apple support page)

This would be a great computer if you were looking at leaving it in one spot and having it sit on a desk most of the time while running. But if I wanted a computer that wasn't good to travel with or rest on my lap, I would have just purchased a desktop computer instead.
