"all good but 2 things"
1. the edge is jagged, sharp and unrounded. It cuts my wrist especially when I type on the macbook on my knees.

2. CPU is easy to be heated. As long as my cpu usage is more 30%, the fan will reach 6000 rpm within 20 seconds

"Very Nice"
I bought this laptop over many of the cheaper PC's, mostly because you couldn't fine a new one without Vista. OS X is a wonderfully awesome, the graphics astounded me right out of the box. But for a 5-year Windows user, it was very confusing when i tried to install applications that just needed to be dragged into the Apps folder, but the documentation included as a booklet and as a pdf file helped me through it.
One of the "problems" Ive noticed is the battery life, which, even in energy-saving mode, is only about 3 hours. But since I haven't taken the laptop away from the charger for a long period of time, I don't know the real amount.
Over-all, Mac's have many features that I wish windows do, including the wonderful Dashboard, xcode, and iLife, just to name a few. And if you love windows guess what: you can run windows with Parallels which runs smoothly for me even with 512 RAM. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quality laptop with quality software available for it.

"Great, not perfect!"
I had just recently acquired this machine and my overall impression so far is that it is a fantastic product. The laptop itself is very light, compact and manageable. You could take it with you pretty much anywhere with little hassle. Apple has tried to improve on the battery life, which they did slightly, so kudos to that. Expect to get about 4 hours of heavy usage, with Bluetooth and WiFi on.
From the design point of view, it is a sharp looking machine. Great curves, thin profile and the glossy screen are just a few to name. Apple incorporated an iSight camera into the screen which was a smart move. It is amazing how much time you can spend playing with it. PhotoBooth is just simply addictive. The keyboard is not entirely my favorite design choice. They keys lie flat and are an actual part of the computer. You cannot remove the keyboard like in previous Apple laptops. I am still gettting used to typing on it. The color white is wonderful for about five days, but then you start noticing all kinds of dirt on the machine. You will need to clean it regularly to kep it looking stunning.
I have noticed with this computer that the system is actually a bit shaky. Every once in a while I will get a horrible black screen prompting me to restart the computer. That has never happened on my PowerBook G4 17" model, and it is highly annoying. I have also noticed that Safari freezes up quite a bit on this model. Very curious and frustrating as well.
To summarize, a wonderful eye candy of a machine, great new design and a portable companion.

"Love my Macbook!"
I am happy, enough said. It's worth the money and the interest that I will be paying on it for 40 years.

"Excelent!"
Excelent product! Operating system working propertly! Theres a big difference between an Operating System that works and one that gets worse every time they release a new one (Windows).

What our customer's say!

"Insane bang for the buck", I was searching for a laptop to replace my old Compaq, which had motherboard problems, and decided to opt for this Mac. I had always wanted a Mac, and wondered if this bottom-of-the-range laptop would be a good choice for the money I'd be spending.

As it wound up, this is a fantastic laptop. For something at the bottom end of performance and amenities (tiny hard drive, not much RAM for any OS you could throw at it), the performance was very snappy. Upgrading the memory (maxed out at 2 GB) made this laptop just simply fly. The battery life was something else too -- three-and-a-half hours, easily, and that's true even today, more than a year after I bought the thing. And that's with Wi-Fi on.

The speakers only have mediocre sound quality, but a good pair of headphones solves that "tout de suite," I'm happy to say. Multitasking on this box is exhilarating; I can run Xcode, iTunes, Opera, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and pretty much any other app I can throw at it at the same time, and there's no perceptible slowdown. It's a very fast machine, and one I highly recommend.

And if it turns out that your Mac OS experience isn't what you thought it'd be, you can also turn this into a superb Windows machine or Linux laptop.

"Black mac makes me the mack.", I already used the Macbook Pro for over a year now and I picked this up for my wife to replace her older laptop. After testing it out for a month already, I do recommend this laptop.

For close to half the price of the Macbook Pro, it includes a lot of the features: great build quality, simple and elegant looks, and blazingly fast performance. It also would be the choice mac for people on the go as it does have better battery life and a smaller form factor.

Definitely, I would have liked a few things: 2GB of RAM would be on par with similar PC models and the monitor adaptor should have been included in the box rather than charging $20 as an accessory. I think for the extra money spent on the black finish, these extra's should have been included.

Aside from that, my wife loves the lappy which is the most important thing for me!

"Totally happy with my forst Mac", Great machine and Mac/OS es another world far better than windows. This notebook has 2 weak points in my view:
1) It doesn't offer descent speakers. So if you work with video and you need to play something in a presentation you will have a hard time because the volume is really low.
2) Black color is great, but it gets dirty quite easily. You need to polish the computer daily in order not to look like a pig or lear to live with it as a pig with all your fingerprints over the pearl black color of your mac.

"mmm... mac.", I will never buy a PC again! Everything in a neat little package right out of the box! I've been using PC's for 15yrs and I was tired of fighting the good fight day in and day out. This is the first Mac I have every owned... it took me about 15 minutes to get used to it. The only thing I had trouble with was, everything was SOO easy that I kept thinking "is that it? that can't be all you have to do." I made a book in iphoto for my sister for a gift, she said it was the best present she every got. I record music in Garage Band, its awsome! But, my favorite thing about my Mac... is it always works! ..

"Buena Buena....", Buena computadora , Linda presentacion, larga duracion en la bateria , rapida , sistema operativo excelente... vale la pena por el precio...
No le doy 5 por que no es la Mac book pro..

"Switch went flawless", So far I am 100% happy with my purchase. When I chose this laptop I was looking for a new general purpose machine (email, internet, etc.) NOT gaming. After purchasing it a few of my friends bought similar models (size, specs) from Dell, HP. Not only is the macbook less bulky but it also feels much sturdier. This is my first mac so I was a bit hesitant at first. Knowing that they can also run windows (via Bootcamp) pushed me to make the choice and I am glad I did. I have never actually installed windows. The differences between the operation of OSX and Windows aren't has large as people would lead you to believe. I would say by day 3 I was already adjusted. I have MS Office, Firefox, which are so me of the most heavily used. While office for mac doesn't have outlook it does have entourage which seems mostly comparable. The little features that apple has makes it well worth the price and the switch. The one problem is that I have yet to find a replacement for Winamp that I like. On OS X it seems you are stuck with iTunes(not a fan). Money well spent. I also went to newegg and order 2gb of ram and a 160 gb hard drive to replace the stock ones. The swap took less than 5 minutes easy to pop them in and out. The hardest part was having to run down to home depot to buy some screw drivers small enough. If you search it there are many video tutorials. A worth while upgrade and simple most people can do it on there own and if not it should be easy to find someone who can.

"Swith from PC to MAC a breeze", I've been using a PC since I began with computers in the mid '80's, and I thought it would be really hard to learn a new OS. HOWEVER I didn't want to subject myself to all the bugs in Vista and I was SICK of piling one anti-virus program on top of another, so I thought I'd grit my teeth and start all over again with Mac. What a great surprise! Mac is easy to learn and so much fun to use. I got a laptop--the one this review is attached to. It is so fast and trouble-free. I don't think I'll ever buy a PC again. I did have to install Word for Mac because the one that comes with the computer isn't good. Other than that, I LOVE IT!!

"Great product....Watch out for AMAZON.COM", I love the MacBook...Let's get that out of the way. I bought it 3 days ago.

This week Apple introduced the new 2.16ghz processor version of this Laptop. Subsequently, Apple dropped the retail price of this particular laptop by $200 to $1299. Subsequently, all Apple vendors dropped their pricing accordingly - that is - EXCEPT FOR AMAZON.

AMAZON offers a low price guarantee, use shift+click below:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/103-6003915-0379009?ie=UTF8&nodeId=468502#postorder

The price drop was so apparent. If you look again at the item (assuming Amazon doesn't swap the page out to avoid this):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GA91P4/103-6003915-0379009

even AMAZON shows the reduced price from several different vendors. But no pricing from Amazon, who up to Monday seemed to have plenty of stock on hand of this product.

What AMAZON did instead, was to simply pull their remaining product inventory off of the website. This way, they could avoid their 'Low price guarantee' claim which they make ensure the confidence of the buyer.

Mind again, that had AMAZON made no post-sale 'Low price guarantee', I wouldn't be complaining, and would take my lumps like a man. But the guarantee is WHY I purchased from AMAZON, this time and many times before. This is what I look for in a web vendor.

In my opinion, and at face value, this looks like a "Bait and Switch" practice. Amazon REFUSES to honor their LOW PRICE GUARANTEE by AVOIDING the problem by pulling their inventory of black Macbook's (this configuration) off of the website as soon as the price drop happens.

I probably have a legal leg to stand on here, and I probably should find out. Years ago, Jeff Bezos would have stood behind these claims, but he is probably so far removed from Amazon's operations that stuff like this doesn't concern him anymore. After years of buying from Amazon, I think Amazon's become a bit too big for its britches and maybe it's time to move on to a smaller e-retailer if AMAZON can't find the time to address problems like this.

This is the FIRST review I've ever written on Amazon. I'm really sorry.

"Great Little Laptop!", We purchased this laptop for my wife, as she is a dedicated Mac user. However, as the resident IT department for the family, I get the joy of setting it all up and keeping OS X, Ubuntu, and Vista all playing together happily.

First of all, the transfer of all her settings, files, apps, etc from the old iBook was a snap. During the set up, it asks if you already own a Mac, and once you click yes, it walks you through connecting the two together via Firewire, and transferring everything. At the end, you boot up the new computer, log in as normal, and you are good to go.

The speed is good for daily word processing, spreadsheets, web, and photo sharing. I bought 2GB of memory from Fry's and popped them in first thing, so I'm not sure what it would have been like with only the original 512MB. I'd definitely recommend getting the memory 3rd party though, as the same thing would have cost 4 times as much through Apple.

Te monitor is bright and clear at its native 1280 x 800, and even hold up well to scaling lower resolution images. The glossy screen really seems to help, as I've noticed with my own Sony. The keyboard it a bit different from the old iBook, and takes some getting used to, but it not too bad. (They've added a bezel that separates all of the keys rather than a single keyboard insert.)

Finally, we tweaked a couple of settings, and handed it off to my wife. Her philosophy with computers is... "I just want to turn it on and use it!" and this fits the bill nicely. She does get to miss out on the Windows World joy of re-installing all her apps, and getting all of her settings, preferences, and bookmarks back where she is used to them, but hey... you can't have everything!

"dont buy this now - just updated", as soon as this item arrived on my doorstep today and before i opened it (luckily) i saw the press release by apple that they had just upgraded the processor and hard-disk for the exact same price.

i am now figuring out how to exchange this item
