Others say...
"great" i really like it, its nice to know if you are losing (or gaining) body fat or lean body mass and this product allows you to do that not only privately, but also frequently.
"Bad design, inaccurate results." The tester has a moving plastic piece in the middle that you are supposed to set all the way to the right before making a measurement. This makes it almost impossible to take accurate measurements. Also the instrument doesn't click so you don't know how much pressure to use.
"Great little device" Considering the price and simplicity of this little tool, I really like it a lot. As other reviewers have said, it does take a little getting used to to ensure repeatability though. Here's why:
These calipers use a clever little "half arm" sticking out from the side to help you to gage how hard to pinch before taking your reading. At the tip off this half arm is a little round tip that, as you pinch the calipers closed, nestles into a little pocket (on the long arm where Accu-Measure is printed). The problem is that you just have to pay careful attention to when that little round tip is fully seated in its pocket and not pinch to squeeze the calipers any more than that.
I consider myself pretty technically inclined and it has taken me a few weeks to get very comfortable and repeatable with squeezing it just right. Now it's no problem at all.
I will say though that an even greater source of variability in measurements (at least for me) is where specifically you measure. There's a little diagram that shows approx where to pinch your gut to measure. I found though that the more I move outward toward my side, the lower the body fat measure. I'm not all that concerned with the specific percentage...I've been using the calipers to mostly gage progress. And I can do this by looking at the millimeters of "pinched fat" and seeing that slowly reduce over time.
You just have to be VERY specific about pinching at EXACTLY the same location and not moving the location around inadvertently. Today I measured 20mm in one location (easily repeated 3 times very accurately) and 1.5 to 2" away (toward my side) measured 14mm (again easily repeated 3 times in a row).
So in short, the calipers are an awesome tool and will read VERY repeatably as long as you pay close attention to what you are doing. I can't vouch for how accurately they translate mm of pinched fat into % body fat. I'd imaging that there are lots of factors beyond the control of these little calipers that affect the accuracy of that correlation. But if all you need to do is track progress, this is a perfect tool for me.
"This is a good cheap way to check your bodyfat level" I was frustrated with the way my Omron Bio-Impedance Body fat analyzer (Omron HBF-306C Fat Loss Monitor) would give me different numbers based on if I'd had a glass of water, or the time of day, or the position of my arms, shoulders or elbows - so I decided to try the Accu-Measure Caliper to see if all of these variables would diminished in number. I found that they did, but the Caliper has far less precision. I liked how the electric body fat analyzer would give me a precise number down to a tenth of a percent while a one millimeter difference in a skinfold using the caliper would be the difference between 15.4% and 13.6%. I now use both body fat testers but I would say that I prefer the electric one.
"Great tool to measure your body fat at home" I love it! It is so easy to use, and I have used it to track my fat loss on a weekly basis. The Accu-measure 3000 is quick and reliable. I would recommend it to anyone who's serious about shedding fat.

What our customer's say!
"personal body fat tester", This is a fun product as well as useful for our weight loss challenges, the participants are also impressed. the quality is great and the price was very affordable...
"Inexpensive and effective", I wanted a product that could give me reliable and consistent measurements of my body fat to keep track of my progress. After messing around with it a little while I was able to get good repeatability of my measurements.
I did a search and have been using the "Jackson/Pollock 4 Caliper Method" which takes folds near your belly button, above your hip, your triceps, and thigh. Obviously you cannot do this method yourself as taking your triceps measurement would be impossible. You can also do this same measurement without the triceps. Look online for a calculator and good pictures of exactly how to take the measurement.
I'd give this only 4 stars because of the lack of good information about different methods, but it's so easy to just search online. The hardware itself does its job well. Once you get used to the click mechanism it is very easy to get repeatable measurements.
"Good enough for what it costs", Works fairly well for an inexpensive plastic tool. I purchased this with skeptisism (could other calipers be $50 or $200 better than this?), so I had myself and two others tested with professional grade calipers by a qualified staff member at my health club. Then at home I re-measured each other using the Accu-Measure Fitness 3000 -- the measurements compared acceptably. The tool's increment lines on the scale are not easy to read when you are pinching skin, but it does work. Taking skinfold measurements is more art than science, so repeat taking every skinfold measurement until you get the same value twice (you cannot be in a hurry when you do this). The body fat chart included with this tool is very poor however. To get a more accurate body fat score, find another formula that require more measurement locations such as the Yuhasz Equation which requires five measures, see [...]. I calculated body fat for all of us using a one-measure, 2 three-measures, and a five-measure test that tested 7 different body locations (including the one at the health club). The results had a *high* degree of variance. The more pinch datapoints taken appears to be a more reasonable body fat score; the down-side though is you will want an electronic calculator for the formula math and need another person to help you take skinfold measures.
"Mediocre tool for assessing body fat", Assessing your body fat is an accurate method of determining your level of fitness and health.
This caliper is small and convenient. However, there are pitfalls. As you squeeze your skin fold, there is some variability from one measurement to the next due to its light construction. It is not durable over time with repetetive use and I question its validity beyond a 1 year time interval. Mine broke a little over 15 months at the 'hinge' opposite to the slide rule.
Conclusion
It is a portable, small tool for assessing your body composition but its durability over time is questionable (as is its accuracy).
"Measure", Good tool and great price. These sell for $20+ on some sites. Very good tool and useful to keep track of your progress.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Skin fold body fat measurer", Excellent, simple to use and quite accurate Alhamdulillah. For the price it came it is well worth it.
"Handy tool", Does what its supposed to do, but could have included more formulae with the package for skinfold tests on other areas. Beats me as to why they didnt include something which would cost them next to nothing!
This is good for measuring your fat percentage, but not for tracking consistent progress. It can only give you readings like 19.5%, 18%, 16%, etc.. not in between. So if you want to track weekly or even monthly progress this is not the tool
"Great Value", The accu-measure is a great product. With a little practice you get results that are consistent enough to track any fitness program, and you really can't beat the price. I've been using it several times a week for more than a month now, and the feedback is invaluable.
"Cheap but still not worth it.", You get what you pay for I guess. The caliper is made of cheap plastic, the readings can vary greatly depending simply on how much pressure you apply. The is a small button on the left hand side of the caliper that is supposed to "click" to let you know when you have pressed hard enough. The button was out of alignment with the caliper on the one I received, you almost have to bend it to get the button into the slot. I tried using it a bunch of times but I don't have any real faith in the measurements I'm getting with it. This one is a bust.
"Works as described", This product works as described. The biggest thing with it is the learning curve for taking measurements. I would recommend playing with it & using it often in order to get the hang of it. This should be used to track progress in terms of the measurement size, rather than using the body fat chart provided. I would recommend this product to someone who would like to have a starting point & track progress as they move along.
