"Superior shave, no razor burn", Received as a Christmas present, I was going to "make myself like it" if it didn't fully measure up. No worries. This is the best shaver I've ever used, from early Shick, later Remingtons, Norelcos & even Braun's, though they [Braun] were the best up to this point. Fresh-out-of-the-carton shave was just plain fantastic. Really, REALLY close - without taking any particular pains. Subsequently, I have been using Williams "Lectric Shave" with it, hoping to extend the life of the shaver head, but it shaves fine either way. Haven't yet tried its cleaning station, having been on the road. Can't speak to it's longevity, yet - but I sure am happy on the honeymoon. I never expected a shave this good from an electric razor. Put me down as "amazed" and exceedingly pleased.

"Very Good Foil Type Electric Razor", Gives a realively close shave for an electric razor. The only other shave I like that is closer is a safety razor shave.

"The worst Shaver ever", The thing simply does not shave. I have top go over the same stretch of skin several times in different directions, never had this problem with cheaper Norelcos. The result? Constant skin irritation.

To add insult to the injury, Amazon is refusing to take it back. My wife bought it for me as a birthday gift, so it sat there for a week before I used the shaver. The instructions say to give it three weeks to get your skin to get used to it. As a result, the month return period was up, and now I am stuck with this horrible thing.

"The 590cc is not the 8995!!!", This item is the series 5 590cc not the 8995. The 8995 is a completely different than the 590cc. 590cc is a smaller shaver. Not very happy that they didn't fix my problem, twice in a row.

"8995 is the best.", I have been a Braun man for over 35 year's. The 8995 is the best electric razor I have ever used. If you have never tried one. Do yourself a favor and get it.

"Braun Series 5 8995 Men's Shaver", I have found the braun Series 5 8995 Men's Shaver to be the best electric shaver I have ever used, far superior to Remington and Norelco. Prior to this purchase I had been using a blade because of dissatisfaction with previous electric shavers. It took about a week to adapt to electric shaving again and I couldn't be happier. I love the cleaning and recharging base. This is a feature no one else offers. It keeps the shaver very clean and automatically maintains optimum battery health. This is, without a doubt, the best electric shaver on the market today.

"Braun 360 electric shaver", Though a tad noisier than I'd like, this is the best electric shaver I have owned. Shaving includes no irritation, is fast, and comes the closest to a new blade shave of any electric I have owned including: Norrelco (several models), Remington, Grundig, Panasonic.

My recommendation for this excellent shaver is enthusiastic.

"Improvement over old Norelco rotary shaver", The Braun is an improvement over my old Norelco rotary shaver.
It isn't as close as a blade, but it is a step closer. I also like the cleaning system. Cost may be a consideration.

"Where have you been all my (adult) life?", I have had this shaver for a month now, and waited to write the review to give it time to perhaps not live up to the initial impression. My first shave with it just blew me away, and has each day since. I used to shave every other day with my Remington because my face (neck mostly) would be so red, bumpy and sore that I couldn't handle it any more often. Now I can shave every day (even though I take Sat. off) with nothing but comfort. I have less ingrown hairs, and no redness. I have not had one pulled hair either, even with the multiple day growth. The trimmer even does a decent job with my sideburn lines. I used to use a disposable razor for that...not anymore. I can't say enough good things about this shaver. Yes, it is expensive, but considering it gets used every day, I have no doubt that it will be worth it. Also, the cleaning solution is lasting longer than I was expecting from many other reviews. The level just went down to the middle indicator the other day. It does an economy cleaning almost always, and chooses an intensive cleaning only about 2 or 3 times so far. I think this cleaning system is well worth it too. There is not a single whisker in my sink...it catches everything. My old shaver pooped these out all over the sink and countertop, and I had to brush and blow it out all the time, and it still wasn't nearly as clean as this shaver is daily. If you can deal with the price, I can't see how you would not love this shaver. People's faces are different, so who knows. But for me, this shaver has taken shaving from a dreaded, evil, torturous task to a short, little satisfying routine.

"Not worth the money. Base has defects.", I bought this for my husband after his rotary electric razor failed after many years. Going from a $30 to a $170 razor raises your expectations however, he says this razor shaves no differently from the cheaper one AND it requires the continual purchase of cleaning solution. In addition, shortly after receiving it the base unit would get stuck in cleaning mode and would run all night. Its bad enough waiting 1/2 hour for the cleaning process to complete but all night? We're not performing surgery with this razor. There's no need for cleaning solution after every use. The other razor worked just as well just shaking it out, and didn't suck electricity 24/7. Amazon wont let you send it back so we had to mail it, at our cost, to the manufacturer for a refund. Have not received it yet.
