"Great game...The Zelda Series continues its greatness"
The game is great. It is a perfect continuation of the GameCube game. If you are a fan of Zelda as much as I am, you will enjoy this game. The cartoonish graphics are the same as that of its predecessor on the GameCube. The game play is fun; the DS controls (touch screen) make it very enjoyable as well. This is a must have for DS owners.

"very fun game"
this game utilizes the DS interface amazingly. not only does the stylus gameplay offer a new style to the Zelda games, but it continues with an awesome story that keeps you entertained the whole time. the gameplay is so dynamic- it's not just a button-pushing, running around kind of a game, but you can write notes on your map with your stylus to remember certain secrets, you actually blow into the DS microphone for Link to blow out fires, you yell into the microphone to get other characters attention, you close the screen to imprint symbols from the top screen to the bottom screen, and so on.
it's good. buy this game.

"Not Just a Kids' Game"
There are already lots of good reviews, so I thought I'd just add another perspective. I'm 53 years old, and I resisted this game for a long time, thinking it was just for kids. It looks like a silly kids' game, after all. But I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I normally play games only in single-player mode, and some games just aren't designed with that in mind. This one is. It's a story-driven adventure, complete with a variety of challenges and minigames. I followed along with a strategy guidebook, which helped when I got stumped. But overall, I found the game to be just challenging enough to hold my interest, without being daunting or frustrating.

Some reviewers complain about the repetition. I didn't find that intolerable. Yeah, you may revisit the same place many times, but it's something of a new challenge each time, and I rather enjoyed getting more and more familiar with the situations, better at handling them.

My only complaint (besides the cartoonish graphics and juvenile story, which still do go against my grain) is that it's not a replayable game. I don't suppose games of this type ever are. Once you've devoted many hours to making your way through the story, you're finished, and then it's time to buy another game. That's great for the game's publisher, but not necessary so great for the consumer. Personally I favor classic games like backgammon or chess, which are infinitely replayable.

Yet, there's something wonderful and compelling about a game which draws you into the story and carries you along. You end up feeling like you're enjoying a genuine (albeit imaginary) adventure. Sitting back in an easy chair with a game like this is a little like reading a fun novel or watching a movie, only you get to participate in the action at your own pace and be the star of the movie as it unfolds.

"Classic Zelda, Through and Through!"
From the moment I first played Ocarina of Time on the N64, I was hooked on the high adventure, fantastical creatures, widespread worlds, puzzle solving, and great storytelling that becomes each Zelda game produced. This latest installment in the Zelda series is no disappointment! Captivating 3D graphics, great music, and a great new story plunge you into a positively addicting game that creatively utilizes the unique features of the Nintendo DS. Your stylus controls nearly all the action in the game: talking, running, battling, jumping, and navigating. The progression of the game follows most others like it; the game will usually point you in the right directions, but there are still many puzzles to figure out along the way. Each dungeon is also a wealth of puzzle-solving in itself. In short, you won't get bored! I find it harder and harder to put down the more I play... I only bought it 2 days ago, so I still have quite a way to go to finish it!

"fun and challenging"
This is a good game, But has a a lot of challenges that would make some people angry. Little kids wouldn't be able to keep up with this game. I am fifteen years old and I needed help at times. But if a little kid can beat this game without help, that kid must be really smart... or just lucky. I find this game to be sort of an IQ test with swords and monsters.

"Very fun game in the Zelda series", If you have ever played a Zelda game and enjoyed it, then I am sure you will enjoy The Phantom Hourglass. Touch screen controls take a little while to get used to, but once you do you'll find that they work very well and are fun to use. The graphics are very well done and don't effect the framerate or amount of content in the game.

The only major complaint may be sailing is very tedious and the backtracking many times to this certain temple may get very old.

Overall, still a very fun game

"Best DS Game so far", I've played through this game twice already, and keep getting amazed at the level of detail that Nintendo has put in the game. While hard-core fans might find the difficulty levels much lower than other Zelda games, the puzzles, the adventure, and the quests are still there. I loved it.

"If you're looking for a perfect DS game, you've found it...", I bought this game on a whim, i do not follow the Zelda series and the last time i touched a zelda game was for the NES and i was about 6 years old so i hardly remember that game even. But this game is down right awesome, just spectacular and should be in every DS owner's library. It uses full advantage of the stylus, the controls are easy to learn, the puzzles are fun and challenging (but not to the point of frustration), the graphics are good, and after almost finishing the game (I'm at the end boss now) i can say that i was fully satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to any DS owner. I really wish there were more games like this for the DS because i'm learning that although the DS is a fantastic system, there are a TON of awful games for it and i have yet to find one as good as this... i can only hope that a sequel comes out... quickly!

GREAT GAME!

"Not as fun as I remember, but a solid game for newcomers", I've played nearly every Zelda game since the beginning (when I was 6) and I love the genre. Over the years, and that's a lot of years, the fundamental formula has never gotten old for me. There were a few games that strayed from the mainstream Zelda theme, and they were not as good because of it, but overall Zelda has been a great franchise and an excellent series of games.

This iteration of the Zelda series in particular I have found to be uninspiring. While I admit I'm not far into the game, it's mainly because I'm so bored by the game that I can't commit the time to playing it. I never played windwaker and so the characters, style, and plot seems foreign to me. Also, where the heck is Zelda? The name Tetra doesn't mean anything to me, but I can guess there must be some relation. Still, so far I don't like any of the characters and the controls take some getting used to. Maneuvering through obstacles is not very intuitive (like zig zags of fire that make me stretch across each side of the screen) but managable.

As for my girlfriend just started playing video games and has never played Zelda before. She absolutely adores it, and even bought her own pink DS to play it on. I can see the appeal to girls or kids, but I find it difficult as a grown man to relate to this cutesy sprite protaganist and the other childish characters. It just bores me. The Wii game was better since it has a darker, grittier feel that I could get into.

If the buyer of this product is a kid, a girl, a kid-girl, is new to zelda games in general, or just really likes having adventures with little kids in green, I would highly recommend this product. Otherwise, I would recommend that you try some of the other Zelda games. As I said, the series is a timeless classic but this one game seems like an abherration.

"I have only played Zelda Twilight Princess and Minish Cap and now ..this one.", I love these zelda games. They are easy to get into even if you don't know the whole story line. I do plan to play the other ones though. This particular game is like a pirate-y action adventure role play game and it's tons of fun!!! The ds control scheme is pretty cool too. Also, for people who can never remember things and people to go back to, this version allows you to write on your map using the touch screen and stylus.

"Granddaughter loves it!", My 13 year old granddaughter asked for this game because she had played a friends game and liked it. She was so excited when I gave it to her - sat right down and played for a long time.

"The BEST game for the DS!!!", I am not a Zelda fan. I have never played a Zelda game before trying it for the DS. For those of you who have never tried a Zelda game before, I absolutely recommend this game. It is amazing. By far the best game I have played on the DS to date. Even if you are not a Zelda fan, you will throughly enjoy this game. The touchscreen is used in very unique ways. JUST. BUY. IT.

"Zelda is AWESOME!", You try to defeat the "bosses" (evil creatures) to get more time in the hourglass so you can upgrade your ship and weapons. Graphics could be improved.

"Great Fun for people of all ages", I bought this game used from amazon and it's great fun! Dungeons are filled with puzzles and creatures to face, customizing your ship is a blast, ship travel is quick and enjoyable and overall it's just fun to play. My older sister keeps on taking my DS to play the game herself and I don't blame her. Graphics are pretty good for the DS and the stylus controls worked even better than I thought they would. My only complaint is that visiting the temple of the ocean king is a pain in the [...] especially since you have to go back there all the time and redo all of the puzzles you solved the last time you went there. Other than that small complaint it's a great game and was made for the sole purpose of having a good time!

"Awesome", I'm new to the whole video game thing. I was never really that interested in them before. My husband bought me a DS lite for my birthday because I was playing with his DS lite. I got Zelda (never played the old one yet) and I LOVE this game. I can't get enough of it.

Does anyone know if there are any others like it? If there are, I'll definitely get them. This game is a blast!
