What our customer's say!
"Solid game, WYSIWYG", I've been a fan of the Super Smash Brothers series since the N64 version came out. I got it the first day it came out and was excited and enthralled with the cross over fighting game. Super Smash Brothers Melee came out and it alone made the Game Cube a worthy purchase for me. I feared that with Brawl, nothing could live up to the fun I had felt while playing the previous versions. I feared the addition of characters for the sake of new characters would be nothing more than mere novelty. I was pleased to have these fears relieved. Super Smash Brothers Brawl delivers an exciting play experience with all its options. The stage designer allows a nice creative outlet and keeps the game constantly changing for many players. The achievements are somewhat staggering, but this gives something to hardcore players.
The new characters mesh really well for the most part (there are a few that feel strange). The game play has changed enough to keep it fresh, but not enough to completely change what was loved. I've found that my skills from Melee transfer really well over to Brawl. There are a few differences, but in terms of control, the GameCube controller gives me the same level of proficiency.
To keep it from being a pure clone of Melee the characters have almost all been universally slowed down. People used to the fast pace of Melee might notice this or become very annoyed with the speed. It was probably done for two good reasons I can think of: better online experiences and character balance. Speed is still an asset in the game, but it is not the ultimate weapon. This allows a bit more balance between characters previously unusable. Bowser and Donkey are still fairly bad, but not NEARLY as bad as they were before.
This is not meant to be a seriously competitive game. It's meant to be brain candy for yourself or a group of friends. There are some flaws in the characters, notably Ike being ridiculously overpowered. Overall, I think these flaws are simple enough to ignore and just focus on enjoying a really well put together game.
"fun game", I bought this for my husband and son, and its one of their family games to play together.. they say its much better than all the other ones because it has different ways to play now.. and of course, more characters..
"Like me Super Smash Bros. Brawl gets a little old", Bought this for my little cousins along with the console. They seemed to like it ok but not that fun for the older crowd (I was 29 at the time). The attacks didn't seem that sophisticated and I couldn't really string together any satisfactory attacks which was the big appeal for me in fighting games.
I like the idea of 4 players fighting at once, but that doesn't make up for more complex moves and more refined attacks.
"PLayed It AT MY FRIEnds house", i have super smash melee and i never gota wii and when this game came out i died a lil inside cuz i couldnt get it... but played it at my friends house... at first i thought it wasnt as good(primarily becuase my best character from melee sucked-fox) but i learned to love and wen i got back home to melee the feel of the game felt different, lol... no joke
"I don't understand all the hype!!", I guess you have to enjoy extremely repetitive fighting games that you don't have much control over!! Is it just kids who like this game? I truly do not understand all of the hype over this game. I was bored after a few fighting episodes! I'd rather box on the Wii Sports! I loaned the game out to a younger couple, and they said the same thing...they were bored!! Again one of those times when I allowed all of the 5 star ratings to affect my buying!! This is going to be another one of those games that will be placed in the cabinet and not played again! Sigh!

"A fun game, but if you loved melee", This review is from the tournament player point of view. I've been going to melee tournaments since 2004. Brawl is fun, hours of fun actually. Unlocking and all that other neat stuff. Plenty of characters and items. However, outside of better graphics and an amazing sound track, the game seems to lack in some places. The final smashes suck, after playing with them for a while, they get boring, or you pick the space animals for the best specials. Only one special per character, and here I thought they put some effort into the specials outside of just snazzy looks.
Great multiplayer fun, but it's hard to take this game seriously. After a few tournaments, I've come to notice that there aren't many exploits to make this game any deeper. Even heavy talk about banning metaknight. The games characters are disturbingly unbalanced which is a horrible thing. The speed in the game was horribly reduced, and it's probably due to the new physics engine being used. The first moment I played brawl, it didn't feel like a smash brothers game.
Everything floats, it's not possible to nail a successful combo. Even when you feel you are, the amount of stun was reduced, this leaves you to be able to quickly recover out of hits, and with brawls dodging, you're able to dodge quickly, and multiple amount of times. The knockback for some things seem either unreasonably low or too high. Some characters attacks have no knockback and have discovered infinites (Marth and Lucario on ness/lucas)
In melee, even with unbalanced character, there was always a counter to a character you could pick. This game, seems... to have so many character, but due to physics and stun in the game, every character will react to every character almost the same due to the float and how far they'll stray. Someone with no projectiles is at a horrible disadvantage with someone with a projectile. Someone slow is at a horrible disadvantage against someone quick. Someone who has short reach or bad range is probably going to lose to someone who has dislocated hitboxes or disturbing range. Hell, in melee, ganondorf and dk had no projectiles, but the physics and stun allowed them to still be dangerous characters, but the same can't be said about ganondorf and captain falcon in this game now.
My main hate towards this is that I can't enjoy this at tournaments. So, let me enjoy it online right? For a game like this, the lag shouldn't be this terrible, there are fighting games with MORE going on the screen than this game. How is it that they don't lag being countries apart yet I lag with someone a state away? Green, yellow, red connection? I don't want this crap. I don't mind paying for the service, I've always love smash bros and would love to play this game with very little to no lag. Noticeable lag is noticeable, and this game has a lot of it. Not to mention friend codes is a pain, and the amount of options for the game is actually embarrassing. Two play modes, quick match, or teams. You don't get the option of joining the games with your friends, displaying your name, or even better ranked matches. You're forced to find an online community to find people to play.
I picked this up at launch, and I really really really had high hopes for this. While I know it's a different approach to the game, I feel they took out a lot of what made smash brothers what is is. I feel they went nuts adding little pointless things, and a massive amount of modes (subspace emissary is a joke), and the one thing I had strong hopes for (the online) is just crap.
By all means, if you have a wii, this is a must own title. However, this was the only reason I had a wii, and I will continue to be disappointed with this release and will eagerly await for another smash.
"super smash bro.brawal", my son is very happy with this game. it came in good condiction and he plays it all the time. we are very happy with the game and in amazon. thank you.
"Best Smash Yet", I don't like fighter games. Never have. I've pretty much given up on the genre as a repetitive mindless button-mashing that takes no skill at all (see Tekken or Soul Caliber) Then I went to a friends' house and tried this game... and found that it was actually fun! It's awesome for all skill levels, as there is a handicap setting that allowed me to be even with my friend. I decided to buy it the next day and started playing. I pretty much knew the ins and outs of the moves you could make within around five minutes, it is really straightforward. I would absolutely recommend this game to anybody who asks about it.
"this game rocks", I got this game as a gift and it rocks!!!!! The characters are awesome, the modes are great, and the best part, the game never really ends!!!!! My only complaint is that sometimes I have to resatart because my nunchuck doesn't work properly. 4.9/5 stars. Get it!!!!!!!
"Great game", I love this game. If you liked the original one from N64 then you will love this one more levels and characters to play with. Great game.
