"Not worth the trouble that it will cause you", I purchased the Belkin N1 Wireless router after a Best Buy employee told me that it was one of the best routers that they carried. He was horribly wrong. There are several problems with this router that should prevent you from making the same mistake that I did when I purchased it.

1. The router constantly gives out duplicate IP addresses. I can't begin to tell you how many times I would be in the middle of a research paper or just doing some work on the web when all of the sudden, my IP address disappeared. Often when another computer in my network was turned on, the router would give the computer the exact same IP address that I was using, forcing my computer off the internet. This occurred on every wireless device in my house.

2. The router is especially prone to random disconnects. Often the router would cease to function for no apparent reason. It would go offline and would require a power cycle to get online again.

3. The router constantly dropped the connection to my modem. As if it wasn't bad enough that the wireless constantly lost a connection, I would often see that annoying flashing "modem" light on my router which signaled that the connection was lost to my cable modem. In order to fix this problem, I often had to reset both the modem and router several times, only to have it happen again an hour later.

4. The range on the router is pathetic. Sure I have a few concrete walls in my house, but I shouldn't have to purchase a range extender just to get the router to extend its signal throughout my basement.

At best the router would function properly for about a week at a time, and at worst it would only function for a couple of minutes. It was truly one of the worst purchases that I have ever made. I owned this router for a couple of years, and it was quite expensive so I was hesitant about replacing it. Make sure that you do a lot of research before investing in a router. I recently replaced the Belkin N1 with an Apple Airport Extreme, which instantly solved all of my problems. I would highly recommed the Airport Extreme as an alternative to this abomination of a router.

"Easy to Install & Reliable", I initially purchased a low-end Linksys router that caused nothing but problems. It was difficult to set up the LAN, and every time I powered down a computer or the router it failed to re-establish. By spending just a few more dollars I upgraded to the N1 protocol and got the Belkin router that installed very easily, and has given me no problem for six months. A friend asked for my old router, and I gave it to him reluctantly. Better that it go to the trash...

"best wireless router", This router is perfect for your wireless environment..
The speed is really good and really little disconnect..(First time there were several times disconnect but now.... the connectivity is good.)
And easy to set up...just plug in..that's all you need to do..

"Defective", I spent more than one hour on the phone with customer service including being escallated to a senior tech. The router is defective and has to be shipped to Compton CA. It can't even be dropped off. Router did not look like it was new. Don't trust this seller.

"WORST ROUTER EVER - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME", I have purchased more than 10 routers in the last 10 years - including the Belkin pre-N router which was a pretty good router. I bought the N1 thinking it would be at least as good as the pre-N. Wrong! This thing is a step back into the dark ages. Unreliable connectivity. Horrible range. Poor interface with USB adapter.

All in all, I would steer VERY clear of this router. It is a waste of money and, more importantly, a huge waste of time trying to get it working and then, trying to keep it working. Don't go N unless you have to. And if you have to, look elsewhere for a reliable N router.

"Excellent", This product was easy to install. All the technical reviews about the product were correct.

I am very pleased with my purchase.

"Bad Belkin", I am totally disappointed with the support staff at Belkin - after numerous hours trying to follow their "easy set up instructions" I contacted Tec support in an effort to resolve the issues with my home network which was only operable at my main cpu.
After 4+ hours on the phone I was essentially told that the problem was not theirs and was with my CPU's and tat I needed to contact Dell as their was nothing further they could help me with.
I ended up crawling around under my house for 3 hours and hard wired my system that is now operating fine.
I will never purchase another Belkin product.

"Stable, but limited bandwidth", Was happy with the stability of this unit for over a year, but always wondered why there have been no firmware updates since the units release several years ago...I recently upgraded my internet service from 6 to 10Mbps and was surprised to see no difference in my downstream speed. Tech support had me disconnect my Belkin N1 and attach my PC directly to the cable modem. Speed jumped up to 9.6Mbps. Replaced the Belkin with an Apple Airport Extreme, which has no problem delivering full download bandwidth.

"Painful & annoying", I bought this Belkin N1 wireless router because it was supposed to be relatively top-of-the-line, new, and it looked like it would be relatively easy to install. And like so many things in my life, "it seemed like a good idea at the time". This router has turned into a very painful & annoying experience in futility.

At first, I tried for a couple hours to get this wireless network working. First it would work for five minutes amazingly fast, but then die. Then I would disconnect and reconnect, and it would work another five minutes. Then die. Repeat this over and over for both the desktop and the laptop. I tried 90+ minutes with technical, but to no avail.

Then my friend, and then his friend (who owns his own computer-support-service business) tried to get it up and running. Again, a couple hours on technical support to India with no such luck. Frustrating for all of us.

So we've spent a good, solid five or six hours on this with zero luck (we're sadistic I guess - we should've given up after one). I feel like taking this out to the desert and shooting it! Please save your money for some other company's product. Believe the 1-star reviews.

"Piece of junk", I highly dis-recommend this router. It is a pain. It does not stay connected to the internet continuously. Working from home quite frequently I need to have an application running that connects me to the relevant server(s) at work. As soon as the internet connection gets interrupted that application has to re-start again (I often have to re-start my laptop). I have lost a significant amount of time. The solution, of course, is to connect directly to the cable modem or buy a splitter to connect my work laptop and the router. But that reduces the router to its wireless feature. Wired features become useless.
