"Apple Rocks (As usual)."
I'm a die hard mac fan. Any major OS apple rolls out is A+ in my book. I usually write long reviews for products that caused problems. OS10.5 is all solutions! Check my blog (http://validatelife.blogspot.com) for all kinds of updates and feedback regarding OS10.5!

"Beautiful OS - A great upgrade!"
OS X Leopard is a great upgrade from Tiger and certainly is the world's best operating system. With the 10.5.1 update, the OS is very stable and well worth the upgrade price. I am very happy with the improvements.

"Apple leopard 10.5 +++"
I was running 10.3.9 on my g-4 Powerbook 1.25. The computer began to crash when accessing some sites on the internet. Some web sites that I had been using, just stopped loading at all. I had concerns of going to the newer 10.5 Leopard due to its size and slowing the computer. I cannot tell it slows the computer down, if it does. It takes a little longer to start up.
I will say I am very pleased with the improvements. I wish I had changed to the Leopard 10.5 sooner.

I will give it two thumbs up.

"Couldn't Install on my PC, Why?"
Ever since the end of last year, one of the baristas at the Starbucks I frequent had been going on and on about how great Leopard was on his macbook computer. He told me about all the great features like a time machine, spaces and itunes. I admit I had been using windows for years, but that I'd go ahead and give it a try, why not? Well that's when I was in for a huge surprise.

I had recently bought one of the great dell XPS Ones and figured that'd be as good a computer as any to run leopard on, after all I wanted to be fair in comparing it to vista. As soon as I inserted the leopard disc, I realized I had been duped. On the disc, I couldn't see the installer, all it had were some directories for "bootcamp utilities" or some sort. I looked all over and could not for the life of me figure out how to install the wretched thing. It took me a lot of searching on altavista but I finally took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad was more than happy to take a look at it. After I paid them 100 dollars to diagnose the problem, they told me my XPS one wasn't compatible with leopard, something about it not being an apple platform. I was of course very dismayed, so I attempted to return this to no avail, since there are no returns on opened software.

When I got home I did more research on altavista and found out that if you want to use leopard, YOU MUST buy one of Apples' own versions of the XPS One, the imacbook line of computer machines. Never in my life as a software engineer have I seen such deceptive business practices. Why would they sell a 100 dollar piece of software to a person with the wrong computer? What kind of racket are they running? This kind of bait and switch tactic is not something I would expect from a large corporation, but with gas prices so high I guess everyone is trying to make a quick buck.

What kills me is that the imacbook computer machines looked like such blatant ripoffs of the XPS one. It looks like all they did was change the color to white and throw their logo all over it. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw dell seek legal action against apple for this type of copyright infrigement. Serves them right!

"Leopar - Fantastic"
Leopard came standard on my new iMac that I got in May 2008. I had a problem when I installed Windows XP (my fault - I didn't follow instructions) and windows erased the whole drive and installed Windows! Just 5 minutes before I installed Windows (why waste your beautiful drive space) Time Machine (Apple's new magical back up program included with Leopard) had done a final back up automatically. So when I had restored my hard drive from the Time Machine Back Up - I HAD LOST NOTHING. What can I say? I swear by it. Use Time Machine, you will not regret it. I have since bought a Family Pack of Leopard for my old eMac and G4 iBook. It runs great on both. The iCal has also been improved as well.

What our customer's say!

"Review of Mac OS X v. 10.5.1 Leopard", I like this product. I was intentionally slow in switching from Tiger because Leopard was a major upgrade, and I wanted to wait until the most important debugging had happened. There were several updates to install after I registered the system, but they were very easy, as is usual with Apple products. I have had no problems installing or operating this system. Using it is enjoyable and very intuitive.

"OS X - the most beautiful OS ever.", Simply put, OS X is years beyond any other current OS on the market, period. As a professional graphic designer / developer I can honestly state that OS X has more flexibility in terms of customizing the OS than any other system offered. Some may argue Linux as the ultimate mod-box, but, the problem with other OS mods is you simply will not have the quality that is inherent to the OS X experience. Apple is truly a master at taking insignificant aspects of the OS and prioritizing the way it is projected to the user. Color, depth, ease of use, virtually NO virus/spyware vulnerability, UNIX availability, etc, etc, It's all here, in one solid package. For current Windows users considering the switch - you cannot make a better decision - if you want to work on your computer and not for it - OS X is the system for you.

"Best Ever ", Wow this is a must have .... Time Machine alone is worth the price of admission .... Tiger was good but Leopard goes beyond ....

Apple is quick to update too .... Best ever - A steal at twice the price !

"Awesome. What else can possibly be said!!!", I've been a mac fan and user for almost 30 years now so I'm always amazed when Steve Jobs can continue to "wow" me. This OS has the usual bells and whistles that we look forward to with each new Mac OS release, but I have to say that Time Machine alone makes this MORE than worth the money. It is absolutely brilliant. Way to go Steve!!!

"You sent me a corrupted disk!", I received a corrupted disc from you. The package was sealed around the edges only. I had multiple problems with it and finally I called apple care and they told me it was corrupted. I did get a new one, but I will not order computer items from you again.

Maggie

"Especially great for the non-technical", Leopard has been a great upgrade for both my son and I, but the best thing about it is how the not-so-technical computer users in our family have made use of Leopard's new capabilities.

Time Machine has made the difference between backup regularly getting done vs. not getting done very often for my daughter. And since she uses her Mac for her photography hobby, backup is vitally important. She also likes the way spaces helps keep her desktop organized.

The Back-to-my Mac feature is my favorite. It allows me to access my home Mac or my wife's laptop from the office. This can be useful in retrieving a unexpectedly needed file or for giving a little tech support to a busy wife.

"Great Upgrade!", Very olesed with this Mac upgrade. Need to read all about Leopard though, lots of new things.

"Each version is better than the last", Each upgrade of Mac OS X improves over the last. For me, 10.5 is stabler than 10.4. I like the integration between Mail and iCal and Address Book. Being able to create event or contact from an email is easy and a real time saver.

A couple of negatives. Events are harder to edit than in 10.4. Mail offers syncing with Google, so you have your contacts on your Google account as well as Address book. I've found this to create duplicate addresses and contacts - not helpful because you have to purge those from Address Book.

I look forward to 10.6 and its promise of more efficiency over features.

"Excelent product", This product reinforce OSX as the most reliable and functional operation system in the world.

"Mac OS X Leopard - Worth it!", I'm a newcomer to Mac from the PC world having just started out with this 1st Gen Mac Pro. I immediately replaced the 250gb drive with a 500 and bought Leopard to install on it. The installation went perfect, with none of the nonsense I'm used to with PCs and considerably less expense.

Here's my initial impressions after about 3 months of living with Leopard:

It's easy to learn, stable and fast. The default mouse setting was 1-button. Setting it to "2-button" in System Preferences was a big help for me.

I'm going to compare it to Windows, as I have no Tiger or any previous Mac experience, so...

It's not as pretty as Vista, but is a lot more useful. It's a bunch faster and more stable too. This comparison is based on a Mac Pro vs. a high-end Core2Duo / P35 PC system with Hardware RAID and 4gb RAM.

It appears to be more secure and trustworthy than Windows XP or Vista. Maybe this is because of the OS itself or because fewer people try to hack it. Probably it's both.

Time Machine is great, very easy to set up and use. Unlike Windows System Restore it saves your files without the hassle of well, backups.
Want to copy your entire Hard drive for the ultimate Backup? No problem with Leopard. Windows is designed to discourage this practice and will usually kill the activation.

Boot Camp works great. It allows the computer to run Windows extremely well for those of us who have some Windows-only programs still in use.
Curiously, Leopard can read Microsoft's NTFS files but cannot write to them. Windows on the other hand can't even read Mac's HFS files. There are utilities available for either. The ancient FAT32 is a good go-between.

The cost: You get a FULL version of Leopard with all necessary drivers for any Mac it can run on, Windows drivers for Boot Camp plus the DVD doubles as a system restore/diagnosis/disk utility disk all in one little package for one low price. Also, there's no nonsense with entering Serial Numbers or Activations. All it really does is check to make sure that you're installing it on Apple hardware.
(For those of you Apple diehards out of touch with the PC world, Windows generally costs a LOT more, plus a 25-digit serial number has to be entered and then "Activated" and if you change too much hardware, you're expected to pay them again to re-install it on the same machine!)
This total lack of hassle alone has me sold on Macs and Leopard.

Have Fun,
Keri

P.S.
Thanks Steve! :)
