"Nice kit BUT not fit SD990IS, becareful!!"
Nice kit with a leather camera case, extra battery, and a strip; however, the case in this kit does not really fit with the SD990IS. Be aware!! SD990IS prospects and owners.

"Case flap barely closes over the camera"
I got this case for my Canon powershot sd890 is so that I could carry the camera in my bag for use anytime. I was expecting the ease of use I get from a good phone case. Comparatively, the overall the functional design of this camera case is very mediocre.

Pros:It's solid construction and protects the camera. The magnetic close is nice. It has protected my camera while it jangles around at the bottom of my bag.

Cons: I end up spending more time that I like fiddling with the case. The case is slightly too short for a solid closure. The camera slides in very tightly and smoothly, but the flap won't cover the top and engage the magnet without pushing the camera in hard and tugging the flap over. The the flap usually reopens in my bag.

Also the hole for the strap is in an inconvenient place, I have to take the strap out of the hole to get the camera out of the case. I just let the strap flop to the side so I don't have to deal with that too.

Strap: the strap that comes with the camera is way more comfortable.

"Battery is an essential, case is a fashion deal"
The case unfortunately doesn't give camera full protection. It leaves the camera inside exposed in three places (top wrist strap cut, and two side cuts) wich is enaugh to get moisture or dust in. Unfortunately, besides the sleek size and leather material, there is not much benefits. IT IS ALL ABOUT STYLE. But for real protection I got a $7 Samsonite with a zip and also with a sleek pocket for your extra battery and memory card.

The battery is an essential if you plan to fill that 2GB+ memory card in one session. In best quality one battery lasts for under 2GB worth of pictures on my Canon 880IS, which is not much for a heavy traveller like me.

The two straps are a fashion deal of personal preference. One is to mach the leather case wrist strap. Other is neck chain in a plastic casing tube - fancy, but keeps your camera on your neck.

"Best Slim Case Out"
I'm not entirely sure why there are so many conflicting reviews of a camera case, but I'll try my hand at describing what I've received.

First, it should be noted that I have the SD990 IS. The case is a bit snug on this camera. I have to feed the camera's leash through the hole in the top of the case in order to have a chance at connecting the magnetic button closure. Even after feeding the leash through the top of the case, I have to press down a bit on the top of the case in order to have enough slack to button the flap. However, the camera is easy enough to get in and out of the case, and I do not feel like the camera is in danger of being damaged or scratched.

The case I received DOES NOT have a strong chemical smell. In fact, it smells like leather. The leather is relatively soft, but the case itself is rigid, which I think will only help to improve the protection of the camera, especially when packed in a backpack or bag.

The inside of the case is lined with a black felt-like material that is a little bit rough, but, once again, not something that will cause damage to the camera body or LCD screen. The bottom of the case on the inside is nicely cushioned, though I wish more of this cushioning had been used throughout the inside of the case.

If you're looking for a case that isn't bulky (can still fit in your pants pocket) that provides good protection for you Elph, then this is your best bet. However, I do agree with other reviewers regarding the odd metal strap, as well as the pointless leather strap that came with this kit. I would recommend either using the wrist strap that came with the Elph, or buying a longer, more comfortable strap to go around your neck.

I have yet to use my backup battery, but I assume it has good/great battery life just like the one that came with the camera.

"Does not fit SD990IS"
Ditto Jie and others: the camera case is too small for the new 990 model.

What our customer's say!

"About the kit...", I purchased a Canon SD600 a couple of years ago before a trip to Europe and, as an afterthought, also picked up a spare battery, camera case, and neck strap. My thoughts:

1) The second battery is useful only if you run out of juice in the middle of a great photo moment...then it is essential.

2) The camera case included here is a poor choice: too tight a fit for the camera and it affords no room for a spare battery, SD card, or...anything at all. You can do better with a small padded Samsonite bag with several pockets. Scout out a bag in a store, camera in hand, to check the fit. Camera bags come in several sises: small, medium, and "I am a Pro - See my lenses!"

3) The silver neck strap: An initially curious looking device that, while certainly not a fashion statement, secures the camera around your neck allowing you to tuck it into a pocket or under a shirt when not shooting up a digital storm. The serrated chain is covered by a plastic coating so it does not dig into your neck and the chain itself will seem completely useless until you lean over a boat rail or balcony and helplessly witness your pricey camera (with hundreds of terrific photographs you have not yet had the opportunity to download to your computer) pop out of your pocket and plummet into the sea or explode in a thousand fragments upon the cobbles below...

I'll be upgrading to the SD990 soon - with another neck strap, as always, attached.

"Fits Canon SD790IS", I love this package! I have the Canon SD790IS and the case fits perfectly. I doubt I'll ever use the metal lanyard, but Amazon's price for the case and battery by themselves is amazing.

"Great case and battery", This is a great purchase.

At the time of purchase, it only cost a few dollars more to purchase this Canon leather case + Canon battery set (than buying the Canon battery alone); so it was a no brainer. And for me the leather case was important because I had used one for another camera and I was used to the convenience of having it on my belt when going to parks, etc with my daughter.

The necklace might come in handy some day, but I haven't used it yet. However, the first and last time I ever saw someone using a similar necklace for a compact camera was at a technology trade show about a year ago... I thought it was a very unique way to carry the camera.

"Nice case! ", Nice case, protects the camera well. I would recomend this and the package it comes with. 1 useless thing is the neck strap, but I did not buy this package for the neck strap. If you want a neck strap, get a larger camera bag with a good neck strap. All in all a good purchace.

"Nice package.", Nice package. Good deal for the battery and case. Good leather case and genuine Canon battery.

"wrong descrption", When I place my order, the description for this item is "Cannon Digital Elph Accessory Kit for Cannon SD880IS, SD990IS, SD890IS, SD950IS, SD900, SD870IS & SD850IS Digital Cameras"

I bought this accessory kit for my Cannon SD990IS, and found that the case does not fit the camera at all.

"Canon Digital Camera Accessory Kit", I'm glad I bought this, especially the case, which has a belt loop so the camera is protected while giving me easy access to it.

"Serviceable set", I bought it for the extra battery but the case is nice, although it ONLY holds the camera...no extra pockets for SD cards or the spare battery. The extra long lanyard is nice but I don't think I'll ever use it.

"Nice, but...", This is my second SD850IS camera (lost the first one on an airplane trip) and I vowed to NOT just shove it in a pocket as before. The "metal" case of the camera is mostly plastic and in less than 6 months, much of it had worn off, scuffed by my pocket contents. I bought the Canon-made holster, thinking it would be PERFECT. It's not. I'm not a "tool belt" kind of guy, but I have taken to looping the case through my belt when on a photo-centric activity. It works great for that. I don't bother threading the wrist strap into the hole in the top. Just dangle it over the side and slip my hand through it before pulling the camera out. ALWAYS use the strap. Small cameras are notorious for slipping out of your hands. The provided wrist strap/neck strap is too heavy for my taste. I'm using the stock strap.

My main complaint is the lack of storage space for the battery. This case is EXACTLY just large enough to hold the camera with no pouch to slide in the spare battery. The whole point of the spare battery is to keep it charged, have it with you to swap out at any time. Now I have to slide it in a pocket or something. Poor planning. I would prefer a case with this one spot for the battery (or extra memory card) and with rounded corners, making it more likely to fit comfortably in a pants pocket. For now, it fits in a jacket pocket. Maybe a neoprene case is out there. But I went with Canon, thinking they knew best.

"Great combination purchase.", The camera case is very sturdy. The combination of case and extra battery is want I was looking for.
