What our customer's say!
"Grat heli but NOT FOR BEGINNERS!!!", This is a great little microheli! The design is good and there are many upgrades for it. However, this is most certainly NOT a beginner heli. If you never touched an RC heli in your life DO NOT START WITH THIS ONE! (mine is currently a heap of helicopter parts awaiting more parts to fix it) As it is designed for 3d flight right out of the box it is extreemly responsive... In my case a bit too responsive. (not the fault of the product) The up side to my not so pleasant experiences with this heli is that it made it SOOOO much easier when I finally decided to get the Blade CX2 and start walking before trying to run! As other reviewers have said, IT IS NOT A TOY! I have a nice little gash in my hand to prove it! (DUH! don't try to catch a flying helicopter) With the brushless upgrade the blades turn EXTREEMLY fast! so be careful with this one! Mine almost killed me twice! (again, no fault to the heli) Overall a very nice heli (when in the hands of a somewhat experienced pilot) It does what it says it does and looks pretty sharp doing it! (even the crashes were fairly spectaculer untill I realised how much each one costed me :-P) 4 stars for this one ( would be 4 and a half but they won't let me do that) Very cool hobby!
"Blade CP pro - GREAT heli for all levels of pilots", I am very pleased with this heli. I have owned it for over a year and I have only had to replace a couple of items totalling less than about $12.00 which were normal wear and tear anyhow.
With additional flybar weights moved out, it slows the response time enough to teach people how to fly helis without the danger and expense of a large gas heli. I have taught both of my sons to fly rotors with this.
3d high performance maneuvers out of the box, you betcha! I spent the first charge of the battery just hovering and trimming it to my preference (22 minutes) which it really didn't need - I could have flown it right out of the box but I wanted to be careful. The next 4 charges were hovering inverted, LARGE loops, high speed passes, flying sideways, reverse, lazy-8's, and lots more.
There is no other heli that will give you the bang for the buck like this one.
"Nice intermediate heli", The Blade CPP is a good, responsive heli at an attractive price. This is only my third model helicopter, so I added training gear and flat-bottomed rotors to soften it a bit and help protect it from my goofs. I've been flying mine for a couple of weeks now and I really enjoy the added precision and outdoor performance compared to fixed-pitch helis in the same price range.
The heli is very lightly built of carbon fiber, aluminum and reinforced plastic bits. You have to preflight it when you get it to make sure everything is tight, but that's just proper procedure. Mine came out of the box balanced and adjusted almost perfectly, a very pleasant experience.
There are a lot of upgrade parts available for the Blade if you want to go that way, but the stock setup is pretty good. I suggest getting an extra battery pack, since they take about 1.5 hr to charge and I hate waiting. Other worthwhile upgrades include stronger motors and a heading-lock gyro, but those may not be helpful to you until you've gained some experience and start trying more advanced maneuvers.
Flight stability is medium, since it's an aerobatic bird. The priority for this heli seems to be responsiveness and maneuverability. It reacts immediately to control inputs and does not take well to overcontrolling, so hovering is a challenge to learn. Once you're comfortable with the quick response, it's easy to fly, but it takes practice to get there.
This is not a beginner heli without help unless you're an unusually quick learner. If you haven't flown RC helicopters before and just take it out and zoom into the air, you will crash, probably a lot. If you're still considering this for a starter, you should get a simulator like the excellent RealFlight G3.5 to practice on before you try the real thing (you will save much more than the cost of the simulator in repair parts you didn't have to buy). You'll be better off still if you look for an RC flying club in your area so you can mix and talk with others who can help you start off.
"Excellent value for the price.", The Pro model is an excellent upgrade to the well-established Blade CP line of E-Flite helis. It makes use of Bell-Hiller mixing (providing MUCH more responsiveness that the base-model Blade head) and is easily upgraded to utilize brushless power and a heading hold gyro. The main and tail motors come equipped with heatsinks and symmetric blades are standard - this heli is fully aerobatic and capable of inverted manuvers right out of the box. The transmitter included with the kit is great - it has provisions for a trainer and provides variable control of head speed and gyro gain...awesome!
I don't know what the previous reviewer was thinking...This is not a .90 size nitro and is not built as such...it's a backyard/park flyer. The design is nothing less than ingenious, providing for quick, cheap repair both at home and in the field.
Be advised, this is not a toy. It could seriously injure someone - and special care needs to be taken with the included lithium-polymer battery. If you're looking for something for your kids to play with, get something from Air-Hogs...this is a product for a serious hobbyist.
If you're willing to invest the time, this improved Blade provides great rewards.
"Poor quality", The tail rotor fell off right out of the box on the first throttle up. The landing gear fall off if you do not glue them yourself. Not only is it poorly made for the money but it is an extreemly touchy machine. Main rotor to tail mixing have to be perfect. Final thought.... After several hours of hard work adjusting the tail to main rotor mix I managed to get it to stay in the air for a few seconds. If you want an R/C helicopter try the Japanese made Hirobo XRB SR.
