"Defective Unit-stuck for postage" Switch arrived promptly but video feed did not work. Called and was given return instructions and UPS return label. Refund issued for amount of purchase only leaving me to pay the original postage. Personnel polite. Technical service answered within five minutes and tried to help. Think my non-working unit was a fluke rather than the norm.
"Good deal" Worked right out of the box which is great because I'm not a techie! It switches between my PC tower and my MacMini using one monitor, USB mouse and keyboard. And the price is RIGHT. Only reason to hold back one star: once in a while it gets a little confused. But it's learning. That seems to be happening less often in the year and a half I've had it.
"Stops working after a few weeks" After a couple of weeks the mouse stopped being recognized by either laptop. No problem. I just started using a separate mouse for each. Then, a week later, the keyboard stopped being recognized by either laptop. I tried using a separate keyboard for each. But, that was not very convenient. The mouse and keyboard still work fine when plugged directly into either laptop. So, I know the KVM switch is at fault.
"Works Great" I was very skeptical about this product, given some of the mixed reactions it received. But given the price and the overall reputation of the manufacturer, I decided to give it a try.
This product works great. It switches every time, without fail. The only snafu I had in switching from my desktop to my laptop is the laptop would not come on. I thought it was a manufacturing flaw, and was ready to ship it back, when I remembered that my dell B130 (POS) has a function button for switching to monitors. Once I pressed that, it worked beautifully.
The only other problem I had was not with this product, but with my graphics card. When ever I switch over to the laptop, I have to again and again change the graphics card setting from laptop to monitor. But I found a keyboard shortcut that alleviates that step.
This is a great product. But please note: it does not switch audio, and it does not switch internet. I am a student and it works great for switching between my desktop and my laptop, since my notes are on the laptop. If you are looking for a functional and reliable KVM, buy it.
"KVM switch" Based on other reviewers' comments I understood the limitations with the TRENDnet KVM switch that the seller's and manufacturer's descriptions didn't adequately address: I had to abandon my Micro Inovations wireless keyboard/mouse combination, but using a new USB keyboard and the existing wireless mouse alone (USB) has not been a problem. The switch is tiny relative to the cabeling required, so it's easily displaced physically, but after wrestling it around under the desk, the switch is working with no functional defects.

What our customer's say!
"Not for use with linux and wireless USB keyboards/mice", I bought this KVM to switch between my Windows XP machine and a Linux machine running Gentoo Linux. I'm using the Microsoft 4000 wireless USB keyboard/mouse combo. Everything worked as expected with the Windows machine, but with the linux machine the keyboard/mouse were disconnecting every 5-6 seconds. Whenever this happened the keyboard/mouse were unreponsive for about a second.
I got in touch with Trendnet tech support to see if this was a known issue. To their credit, they were very quick to respond to a couple of my emails. However, their recommended solution left a lot to be desired. Basically, they told me that they were aware of problems with wireless devices and that I should switch to a wired setup. Not the answer I wanted to hear. It's not like wireless is something new. They've had plenty of time to get it right.
Anyway, I bought a IOgear USB KVM for about the same price as what I paid for this one and everything works the way it's supposed to.
"Poor-Man's Hi-Def", I acquired this device so that I can connect my desktop and Xbox 360 to my LCD monitor. From the fist day that I acquire this product to this day, it has worked flawlessly.
It's easy to switch from desktop to Xbox and Xbox to desktop. Nonetheless, you don't have to have both devices for the switch kit to work.
I would recommend this product for anyone who wants to get hi-definition from their Xbox 360, but cannot afford a TV.
"Good budget KVM switch", Pros: I don't think you'll find a better budget KVM switch. It is very easy to setup. The software is quite simple; very basic/no frills. Exactly what I expect from a something in this price range. The KVM switch itself is not cheap looking by any means. It's made of good quality plastic and the cables that are sent with it are pretty good too. It takes about 2-4 seconds to switch between PCs. Quite acceptable from a USB KVM switch. If this were a PS2 connection I'm sure it'd be much faster.
Cons: It looks like it was designed to be smaller and take up less space, however because of the positioning of the ports the cables make this thing about 4-6 inches in diameter. I would have preferred it be wider and all the ports be in the back. Also, there is no way to mount it to a surface. So you're stuck with leaving it laying on your desk with the wires going everywhere. You could leave it laying behind your desk but I like using the buttons on top of it versus the keyboard. It also does not work well with my Logitech MX300 mouse. The scroll wheel works intermittently. All other features on my mouse work fine including middle mouse button click via the scroll wheel. I contacted tech support on through their online help desk. Their responses were professional but did take a few hours. They could not offer me any solutions and suggested I try a different mouse. A microsoft optical mouse works just fine. While they did not offer to fix the KVM they told me I would need to purchase a different mouse. No big deal, I need a new one anyway. :)
Summary: Despite the mouse problems and the mediocre port design this is a very good budget KVM. It suits my needs and gets the job done efficiently. The age old question to the salesman is "Would you recommend one to your parents?". Yes, indeed I would.
"Switching between 2 Computers with Trendnet", This switch kit worked just as I expected. Many gave a reveiw it was slow switching. I have XP on one computer and Vista on a new computer. I did not have any problems unless I switched back and forth quickly then it took about a minute longer. I would recommend this product. Also, it was deleivered in a timely manner.
"Doesn't work very well. I am looking to get a better one. ", I've been using for three months. It doesn't switch instantly -- always a delay. Sometimes the other computer completely freezes up--about once a day. Totally underwhelmed by Trendnet. I wonder if the rave reviews were planted? I fell for the cheap price. I bought this based on one of the multi-star recommendations that appear here. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

"Excellent value", I have a home business, and needed to run a work PC and a server using one monitor, keyboard and mouse. This switch is excellent value for money. It took less than 5 minutes to set up, requires no external power source and no software, and has proven highly reliable. There is no degradation of video quality or lag in performance whatever. Both of the PCs attached to my KVM are dual boot Windows/Linux (one Windows XP + Pardus and one Windows Vista + PC Linux OS). Unsurprisingly (given the fact that it is not software driven),the switch operates flawlessly no matter which operating system is being used. Note: I was able to get this switch as audio is not a problem for me, but if you want your speakers to work on both boxes, you may want to look at a TRENDnet 2-Port PS/2 KVM Switch Kit w/ Audio (Includes 2x KVM Cables). Re. TRENDNet: TRENDnet makes a lot of decent budget equipment - I use their wireless cards as the Atheros chips they use are generally Linux-friendly. I have never personally had a problem with their products.
"Excellent", Connects a Microsoft Natural 4000 keyboard and Logitech MX700 wireless mouse. I can power up either one of the PCs and the devices are automatically connected. Push button switching works great when both PCs are on.
"Great product", I would have given this product a 5 star, but I ran into problems when I went to install windows on a computer that already had an operating system. When the computer asked me to press any key to boot from cd the switch wasn't allowing me to type anything. Very frustrating. Beyond that it is a great product. I would recommend it to my friends.
"Works Great", Exactly what I was looking for. Works well with a wireless keyboard and mouse too.
"Very Good KVM", I have purchased a couple of these for different applications. It is a very good simple KVM for two computers.
