"Middle button very stiff - returned"
This is a well-manufactured mouse, but if you use the middle button a lot, forget it. It's much stiffer than the middle button on Logitech's other mice and may give you a bruise if you try to use it too much.

Also, the acceleration was very different from most mice. It can undoubtedly be adjusted in software preferences, but I fail to see the justification for a mouse that doesn't work out of the box these days.

After trying this mouse for a couple of hours I returned it and got myself a trusty MX-310. No surprises there, just a good mouse.

"Scroll Wheel Hard to Use - Returned"
I researched the heck out of various corded mouses (don't want to deal with batteries), before settling on this mouse. I used it for about 4 days. I'm not a picky person and I really tried to like this mouse. After a while, it became very comfortable in my hand and was easy to maneuver.

BUT - the scroll wheel felt cheap and flimsy. The clicking noise it made was MUCH louder going in one direction than the other. Also, pushing the wheel down to activate the zoom was VERY difficult. If you pressed too hard/far, the icon would switch from pointer to zoom icon and back to pointer. If you didn't press far/hard enough, you wouldn't activate zoom. It was like Goldilocks, you have to press not too hard/far and not too light/shallow. I found it pretty frustrating. My other Logitech mice never did this. Maybe I got a bad unit.

Anyway, I returned it and Amazon was very good about taking it back. I ended up placing an order for a Logitech V150 because I have and LOVE the v100. We'll see how it goes. It doesn't have the nifty forward/back buttons on the side, but I'll live w/o as long as the scroll wheel works the way it should.

"perfectly simple"
this is the only mouse i've ever owned that became invisible on my desk. That is, it is so totally unproblematic, that it has simply become an extension of my hand. It does nothing to call attention to itself - it just works on every level that a mouse is supposed to work. Pointer never skips, buttons are always within reach and respond decisively, its shape cups your hand very comfortably; it doesnt slip, or skid, or force you to read the manual -- nothing at all, it simply vanishes from your mind. The way a mouse is supposed to, so you can focus on your work or your game. I tried dozens of mice, some with fancy features, others that looked glossy and neat, searching for something I thought I was missing -- in the end, I came back to the straightforward and competent mouse, the one that works hard day after day; all I was missing was something that actually worked, and worked effectively. Like Obama, this is "The One."

"The comfortable Logitech MX 400"
Designed specifically for right handed people - I use the Logitech "MX 400 Performance Laser Mouse" with my desktop Macintosh computer, and love it. The "MX 400" is said to have a more accurate tracking ability than an ordinary "optical" mouse, however, this is not why I recommend it. I find the "MX 400" to be as good as my old Kensington "Elite Optical" mouse for routine tracking, but in spite of the hype about laser tracking being better, I have not found this to be the case. In fact, when I use "Photoshop Elements" to trace the outline of an object in a picture, the "MX 400" is a little trickier to control than my old "Elite Optical". But what makes the "MX 400" a great mouse to use, is its overall shape, and the placement of its two customizable side buttons. The "MX 400" is ergonomic without being weird, and is the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. Its two customizable buttons are both on the left side, and very easy to trigger by just the use of my thumb. Other mice I have used, including the "Elite Optical", had a customizable button on both the left and right side of the mouse, and positioned them in a way that made it awkward to trigger either without first shifting my hand's grip on the mouse. This is not the case with the "MX 400" - this mouse allows me to hold it with a natural and comfortable grip all the time, while still being able to trigger either of its two custom side buttons quickly and easily. I therefore recommend the Logitech "MX 400 Performance Laser Mouse", for its superior design and great comfort in using.

Last month I replaced a failing Dell mouse with the Logitech MX400 Performance Laser Mouse. I particularly wanted a cord type mouse and after trying several in the store, I settled on this one, then purchased it through Amazon.

I was drawn to the black and grey color scheme, more so to the contour shape since it fit comfortably into my arthritic hand.

Installation was a snap, programming easy. The increased accuracy of the laser technology over the trackball is brilliant. This mouse does so much more than any previously owned that I'm still in learning mode.
