"NO!!!!!!!"
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!
It is un-stable. It is terrible. It only has 16 tracks compared to Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0's Unlimited amount.
I bought Magix because it supposedly had very funny motifs and could do green screen work. And I wanted to make movies and put them on DVD.
It took NINE HOURS to burn a TWENTY-MINUTE movie. I had no choice but to burn it overnight, and because of that I had to turn off all of my screensavers.
The chroma keying was terrible. Just plain terrible, I can't begin to describe it.
And when you register your magix product, you get SWAMPED with hundreds of e-mails a month!!!
And there was also the codec problem that it had......
There was only one thing I liked about this program, and that was the funny motifs. It is worth buying it for that purpose only, but other than that, it's terrible.
And also the rendering took FOREVER. It took 50 minutes to render a SEVEN MINUTE movie!!!!
Just do not buy this program. Get Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0, a much more powerful piece of software.

"Just an okay product"
Over the past few years, we've recorded at least 20 Sony Digital 8 tapes, and I was interested in burning the home movies to DVD. After trying Sonic myDVD, Ulead Video Studio and ConvertXtoDVD, I decided to try Movie Edit Pro 11, especially when my local B___ B___ was running a $20 off special. Sonic myDVD and Ulead VS 7 were all free when I purchased my DVD burner and TV card a couple of years ago. I bought ConvertXtoDVD direct from VSO.

Sonic MyDVD and ULead VS are nice products but the picture they deliver is not too good, or the application hanged when encoding the dv-avi file. ConvertXtoDVD has a very, very limited functionality for creating a menu, but it encodes an excellent quality picture on DVD.

Since I wanted one tape (60 minutes) per DVD, I would only have one menu item, and a chosen six chapters (every 12 minutes). I also wanted a product that would allow me to have the chapters as my main menu. MEP 11 will do this. However, every time I attempted to create a DVD with MEP, there was all white noise beginning at 4 min 45 seconds into the show. The noise lasted the remainder of the movie. The picture quality was also not too good. This occurred on any avi file I attempted to burn. The noise was also noticeable within the edit screen of MEP before burning. The other products did not have any white noise.

I eventually ditched all the other software and am now using ConvertXtoDVD. The menu is not nice, but I get an excellent picture/sound and a fail-safe production.

"Misleading packaging"
I do not recommend purchasing Magix products.

I bought this software because my video camera records in Dolby 5.1 surround and the Magix packaging claimed it supported surround sound. After unsuccessfully burning DVD's with surround sound (in fact there was NO digital audio), I contacted customer support who told me the surround sound supported is not the Dolby standard and is only supported by a few DVD brands. When I attempted to get a refund due to inadequate packaging, they preferred to argue with me rather than support me.

Fortunately, the retailer agreed with me and provided the refund (thanks Amazon!!!) I am now using Sony Vegas Platinum 7 and it does everything I need.

"Magix Movie Edit Pro 11"
I don't normally write reviews but after reading some of these bad reviews
I had to give my opinion. I tryed three different software programs and all 3 drove me nuts. My first mistake was buying just any old dvd's blanks. Out of 50 disk maybe 2 or 3 worked the rest I recyled.
I'd spend 2 hrs encoding and than they would error out. Bought Taiyo Yuden
dvd-r which cost more but the difference is night and day. Another thing
you need to make movies is a very good working computer. Make sure its
in good working order. I have a dual core processor in mine and it gets pushed to limit. Before I start burning a movie I restart the computer and turn everything else off. I've been using Pro 11 for about a yr now and
once you learn how to use it its fantastic. You can do anything with.
There are a lot of tutorials to help you learn how to us it. Once you
learn it it works like a charm. You can't buy a better program at any price.

"Save your Money"
It is a piece of junk. Hard to use, booklet is not useful, takes long time to burn, cost lot of money to get help on the phone and web help not awailable most of time. Once you buy it you are on your on. Buy something which work and has good support from company. DO NOT BUY.

What our customer's say!

"Lots of bang for the buck", I have used several MAGIX products over the years.
Considering the $$ spent, I have usually been very pleased.

It seems MAGIX takes features from it's more professional products and makes stripped down, simpler versions for the general consumer or hobbyist.
(example: Audio Cleaning Lab contains many of the features from the pro recording studio software SAMPLITUDE. In fact you can sometimes find errors in the manual where they copied text and accidently left the word SAMPLITUDE in the instructions).

MOVIE EDIT PRO 11 works fines for my needs.

I largely shoot underwater video in either AVI or MPG formats.

I then need to edit this videos into "underwater sightseeing or adventure videos" with transitions, music soundtracks, chapters, and color enhancements, etc...

This software has worked great.

2 words of advice I will caution people about when working with MAGIX products.......

1) Due to the low software price, the company must cut costs someplace and that seems to be Customer Service.
In a word..... forget about it. You are on your own.
MAGIX virtually never answers emails or calls.

2) Save Often !!
MAGIX is not alone in this arena, but many Audio and Video editing software platforms really put a load on a PC (even a powerful one) and thus these applications tend to lock up or crash from time to time during really heavy multi-task processing with real-time effects........ So............. SAVE OFTEN !
Your life will be easier

I tend to save different versions along the way (V1, V2, V3) so I can retrace back to a prior save if anything gets glitchy.

"Very Good Program", I have to also write a review reading these other bad ones. I videotape and edit for a profession. It is very hard to find a good program that gives you lots of editing tools AND great menuing features in one, especially for this price. I do agree with a previous review, you have to have a good working computer with either a dual processor, or a massive amount of memory on your hard drive, or of course it will crash and take forever to burn. The only downside I have found is the rending and burning time frame. Even with my massive dual processor it still takes a long time. That definately does not stop me from using this program. Support is also not great, but I have had better responses though e-mail...otherwise lots of tutorials and very easy to figure out on your own. This program is also very compatible with other programs where you can drag and drop them into this program, such as picture touch-ups, you can even do some editing in Adobe and transfer it into Magix...you cannot do that with Adobe from what I have tried. Bottom Line, this is the easiest program to understand (user friendly) with lots of tools and menuing.

"Frustrating and Useless", Bought this product based on my total disgust with two other programs which I felt didn't give me enough power in editing. As it turns out, despite the number of tools available with this product, it is incredibly frustrating and non-intuitive. The manual is useless and the help files equally as unhelpful. The program is highly crash prone and the quality of the finished product is shoddy. Buyer beware!

"This is an awesome video editor IF you have Windows XP", Must admit I'm kinda shocked too at the bad reviews of this product. I've also been using this at home for about a year, and am quite versed in video editing and other software packages to do such (do extensive video editing at work). The MEP 11 program is excellent for video/video-audio editing, and is the best bang for your buck out there. However, wouldn't recommend this for beginners in video editing (try Ulead products instead, they're relatively easy to use though not nearly as feature rich). It really is amazing what is included for the price in the MEP 11 BOXED version (do not recommend the e-version at all. There's a lot missing in it). Now the other caveat, at home I'm using MEP with Windows XP on a 3Ghz Dell, 1 Gig RAM, and with plenty of hard drive storage space. Based on the poor reviews, I'm guessing that MEP doesn't work too well with other operating systems or slower computers. This is Magix' bad, as they claim it can be used on other operating systems.

"Don't waste your money on this product!", It's not easy to use and their technical support sucks.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Terrible - Doesn't work, Hard to use", I was impressed when I found a manual in the box. However, the manual is basically useless! The software package is not intuitive. The web page offers no solutions to any of the problems I encountered. The online help offers a little more but not enough. And who likes reading the Windows online help utility?

Problems? Well I did not encounter any crashes, the installation went fine including upgrading from the web site. I have a good system, Dell 3.2Ghz machine with 1gb RAM, 300gb HD. I imported 1 hour of video from a DVD I recorded with my DVD recorder. For some reason, it will only play 2 minutes and 30 seconds of it even though it loaded the whole file. An attempt to add chapter separations took 3 hours. This is not at all explained in the manual. Simple once you figure it out. I imported other DVD movie files and the picture jitters. I tried all combinations of interlacing settings as some help pointers mentioned only to find they did nothing to correct the problem. So its back to the store - see if I can get store credit or something. Its a shame as it seems this could be a really nice product. Its unusable in my opinion. RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY!!!

"Crashes galore", On the face of it, you would think this software might well suit your average video editor with all the features listed - but you'd be wrong. This user found it to be full of bugs, mistranslated onscreen instructions and VERY prone to crashing.

As others have noted, Magix Support is non-existent. They prefer to blame your system rather than tackle the problems of their own software. Plus they do not refund!

"Crash and Burn!", If you like cheap movie editing software that crashes and burns, this product is for you! Unfortunately I bought this product at Best Buy since it was on sale for $20 without seeing any reviews first. Big Mistake! It crashed on install. It crashes when selecting various options. The customer support is TERRIBLE. Their Website is terrible! I have a pretty high tech machine so I know it is not my computer. I've got all the latest drivers and downloaded their useless patch. I think I will move up to Sony's Vegas Movie Studio. I have seen a lot of good reviews on that product! For now it might be back to Windows Movie Maker. To bad you can not return opened software. DO NOT BUY THIS!! You'll be sorry.

"To Know A Truth & Not Reveal It Is Deception", I would not advise anyone to use this software. Before buying MEP 11, I tried to get a hold of their support people and ask if it was compatible with Win2K WHICH IS STILL SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT. I could not get an answer.

IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH Win2K! Yet the software goes ahead and installs, regardless. WHY? If Magix knows it doesn't work with Win2K JUST HAVE THE SOFTWARE REFUSE TO INSTALL! Instead one is left pouring over their system looking for a problem, wasting much time. One is thinking that their system is the problem, when it is really just a matter of deception by omission by Magix and Amazon.

MEP is NOT compatible with anything other than WinXP!!! Look above on this page and see if that fact is even mentioned. It is not!!!

Secondly, after pouring over their knowledge base I saw that one should not be using anything above DirectX 8.x. This is bunk! Any new drivers or MultiMedia Center from ATI require DirectX 9.x. Magix brags how they support only M$ codecs, but refused to support M$ Win2K or DirectX 9. Both are still supported by M$.

These clowns will not get any more of my money. Who cares if it is cheap if it won't work! I will stick with Nero 6. If there was a zero star rating, I would have chosen it.

"No customer support", I would NOT buy this product at all. They have no product support that will efficiently help you. I have left 6 messages over the last week to 3 different locations and have not gotten a return phone call. I have written 3 emails to seperate people and have not gotten a return email. If you will require product support this is not the product to buy.
