"The Best There Is..."
Just to echo all the sentiments expressed previously by others... This is a fabulous game! Something that hasn't been mentioned enough is the incredible support provided by the games developers on their web forums. All questions, even seemingly 'dumb' ones are answered quickly and in great detail.

Another great aspect of this game is the modifications that have been created for it by the community. It can be made into a completely new game - for example, there is a 'Rebels & Redcoats' mod that has been created that models the armies of the American Revolutionary War, complete with accurate uniforms and period music. Right now, modders are even working on a Napoleonic Wars module as well...

A must have!

"Civil War battle simulation"
The game is a good simulation of American Civil War strategy and tactics and covers the 2nd Bull Run Battle. There is nothing on the PC game market that matches MadMinute's game covering(civil war battles). The game provides many secnarios from small detachment battles up to grand army battles in real time. Some battle senarios can last 3 hours or more. But the save battle button gives you a chance to go pee. The combat AI is quite good and will test any seasoned PC game vetran. The game will run on low end computers too. The graphics are not flashy, but this is no distraction for civil war buffs. Also a plus is the open play battles that you script. I use windows XP and have had no problems except with virtual memory which can be solved by adjusting the game settings.

"Excellent Wargame for Anyone Interested in the American Civil War"
This is an outstanding achievement (and by a garage developer no less). Anyone with an interest in the American Civil War who enjoys challenging wargames should enjoy this game immensely.

The game features several historical scenarios, but it's the "open play" mode that I like best (and which makes the game endlessly replayable). It is truly a thrilling spectacle when two large armies meet up with each other and a full scale battle develops by mere happenstance in some obscure section of the map being played on. This would seem to be very true to life, and reminiscent of what actually happened during the war (e.g, at Gettysburg).

I can think of no better Civil War themed computer game out there. Hopefully, the developers will release future games covering other famous Civil War battles and, perhaps, even turn out a Napoleonic Era themed game.

"Very fun"
This game shows what civil war Generals, corlnels, and commanders whent threw and how they commanded. The gameplay is my favorite part it lets
you command small armies and huge armies. You can be all kinds of your favorite generals like Robert E. Lee or Stonewall jackson and many more generals. also when you command cannons you can choose witch type of cannon ball you want to fire. During the game you will recive messages during battle from other generals. The graphics arent as bad as Sid Mires civil war collection.Overall this is my favorite computer game. If you like civil war games than i suggest you buy it!!!!!!

"Highly recommended."
I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy or civil-war related games. Very solid game engine, with lots of customization options to suit just about everyone. You can micro-manage your army as much as you want, but you're not forced to, since the AI for both sides is as good as it gets. It's also historically accurate down to the smallest detail. Just make sure you have at least 1 Gigabyte of RAM. The bigger battles use a lot of memory, but they're also the funnest to play, with tens of thousands of soldiers onscreen at once.

What our customer's say!

"Almost like being there", I connected my 42 inch TV and loaded this game up and all I remember saying was WOW! The graphics aren't state of the art but work nicely. I played the division tutorial over and over again. I used to re-enact and this game puts me right back in the thick of things. Probably the best tactical ACW game out here at the moment. The AI is very good and there are a lot of mods out there. I wish it had online play and a full campaign mode.

"Question", First of all, i absolutely love this game. I am currently in the middle of playing it, but i am stuck on the 30th. I need to play as General Lee, however, his icon for this battle is a different grey color and when i click on it, the scenario wont load. Can anyone help me with this? I need to play the scenario to get promoted and move on in the game. Thank you very much in advance.

I highly recommend this game as it is now the only one that i will play.

Thanks again and enjoy.

"Wow!", Admittingly, I have played only the brigade, artillery, and division level tutorials for Take Command - 2nd Manassas and am totally impressed!

The online and printed manuals are great and easy to follow and the icons on the map are easily seen and easy to understand - a far cry from Divided Nation. The terrain features also seem to be very realistic for a PC game.

I understand that Paradox Interactive will produce a future Civil War game that contains other Civil War battles (Shiloh? Perryville? Corinth). Would someone please advise if this is true and if so, when will it be published?

If you like wargames (especially Civil War real-time), get this game! The beginner will appreciate the excellent manual and tutorials while the advanced gamer will surely enjoy the battle scenarios.

Highly recommended! Enjoy!

"Not just the best civil war game, best war game", Like the title says, this game is fantastic. Many improvements over CWBR. Mad Minute Games completely supports this product. Checkout their website at [...]. The AI in this game is not equaled in any other game that I have played. This game is so fun that I'm still playing the first three scenarios over and over. I have yet to get into the meat of the game. If you like to get your money's worth out of a game by playing it many times, than I highly suggest that you purchase this software.

"Chris' Review", We had trouble loading the software our desktop PC (purchased in 2005). We put it on a newer laptop, and it ran well. The game is lots of fun.

"Great game, feels like being a general", Love the game it actually feels like you are leading armies during the civil war.Could not have been better except to have been about the entire war period instead of one campaign. But overall great game loved it.

"Easily the Best Civil War RTS Ever Made", I've been a civil war buff for as long as I can remember. I played civil war board games, and when the first games for the computer came out, I was playing those too. I was a huge fan of the Sid Meier's series, and played those games into exhaustion. When I heard TC Second Manassas was being developed, I was ecstatic. I am proud to say I was not let down. The accuracy of the battlemaps is amazing, down to the smallest detail such as a fenceline or a small bump in the land, and this is coming from a guy who grew up right down the street from the battlefield. You have full camera control so you can see the battle at any angle. The game graphics can be cranked up with high detail units and effects that give you a sense that you are actually in the midst of this enormous battle.

I would like to set a few facts straight from what I've read in other reviews. You can take control of any unit you wish from the AI by clicking the "Take Command" icon on the unit's toolbar. If you want to control an entire army, corps, division, brigade, regiment, or even a sole battery, you can do that by simply "Taking Command" the the leader of that unit. Once you 'Take Command,' the AI leaves the unit alone and it is 100% under your control. The only reason the AI would march off with your men is if you didn't 'Take Command' of them (Kind of funny how the title of the game describes so well one of its biggest staples).

Anyway, the game is excellent, and anyone who was a fan of the Sid Meier's series would LOVE this game as a modern-day replacement. Good luck on the field!

"very good war game", This game is a very good war game. I would rate this game 5 star
but for thing. When you go into battle you can command a army, corp, division, and a brigade. A division brigade is my favorite to
command because it's small and easy to move around. A division is fun to
use to. How in the world can anybody command a army if the AI constantly moves my troops when you don't whant them to! That realy is the only bad thing about this game. This game has amazing graphics and detail. If you
are a history {nut} or a wargamer than I think this is the game for you.
Some of things I was amazed at was the fact that Thomas {Stonewall} Jackson can be seen sucking lemons and raising his arm in the air like he
is famous for doing. If you do buy this game than I will give you a little
tip. Use the 1st U.S. sharpshooters the are unstopible. Just so you know were to find them the are Y.W. Ripley.

"Very Accurate historical game", If you like games that follow history and are fun to play you will enjoy this game. A little on the slow side as far as game play but over all a very good game for the Civil War persons

"Don't listen to whining naysayers", After years of gaming I found this to be the best title of its type I have ever played, bar none.
Well designed, very playable, educational, historically accurate, and best of all, fun!
And not very expensive either.
