"Amazing little speaker", I'm amazed at the sound from this little speaker. I wanted something to use in my camper for background music and this thing more then fulfills my needs. Compact and amazing sound for something so small. If your looking for something with big base and loud sound, then obviously this is not for you. If I had a negative, the audio cord is to short, if this was a problem you could always get an extension. I will be curious how long the batteries will last.

"Great speaker, but dead after 6 months", I like these speakers, very portable. I carry it around with me easily when I travel. The volume can be turn up to very loud. I never have to turn it all the way up. I got these because my laptop speakers are not loud enough. I mainly use it to watch Movie or TV show online. And they serve the purpose. However, after 6 months, they're dead now. Because the wire that comes out of the speaker to plug into your computer is flimsy. The connection has been loose for a couple months, but I was able to manuever it to get it to work, but now it doesn't work at all anymore. So if you think it's worth the money to buy this and use it for 6 months. Then I would recommend it.

"Good sound, poor construction, no rechargables", The speakers are perfect in sound quality. I'm no audio geek requiring a huge stereo system. It's nice to plug into the laptop (and it can power itself by USB) and watch some episodes with or bring to the beach to have some music.

However, it's very easy to accidentally close it on the cord and cause damage.

The battery case is very difficult to close and almost impossible to open once you have it closed.

It will not run on my rechargable batteries. This sucks! All my other electronics work fine with rechargables.

"got what I paid for....but they're dead now.", I bought these a year ago, to take to the park with me. They sound alright, and the volume is ok. But despite being very careful with them, especially about putting the cord away properly, they're now basically dead. They cut in and out, and the problem is at the base of the cord.

Other thoughts:
-no battery indicator - plus, the 'on' light requires so little power that the light comes on even when there isn't enough power to run the speakers. I advise always carrying a spare set of batteries with you.
-you always need to turn the volume up each time you use them, as they start at the lowest volume

I suppose I got what I paid for. But I just hoped that they would last longer, especially considering that I take good care of my things.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great for audio (not music)", This little speaker is inexpensive, runs on AA batteries exclusively, and has enough volume to allow you to listen to an audiobook without earbuds. But it is not for music.

"excellent value for the price", If you need a portable MP3 speaker device for those times when earphones aren't practical, then you can't beat the value afforded by the Audio Source DB5 system. Packaging is impressive, connections easy, and while it doesn't provide Bose quality sound, it is more than adequate for the price they ask. I like having all of my music available to me and am using it today while I'm getting some painting done in our hallway. If you need inexpensive speaker access to your MP3 playlists, you can't go wrong with this purchase.

"Definitely would buy them again", These little battery-powered speakers work well. They are not high fidelity speakers. I use them primarily to listen to spoken podcasts, not music. But they're OK for music, too. For inexpensive, very portable speakers, they do the job just fine.

"Not a Good Design", Unfortunately, mine also died after just a few weeks of moderate use. I think there is a design flaw with the wiring. I really liked it otherwise and was very disappointed when it started to cut out intermittently for no reason.

I'm still in search of a good portable speaker for my mp3.

"Amazing - for about a month!!!", I got this unit and was amazed by the sound. I used it in my car for the 40 minute drive to work with my mp3 player, really sounded first class. When I get to work at the high school, I can close it up and put it away, no worries about theft. However, after a month of opening and closing it everyday, the really badly designed wire leading to the mp3 jack started to cut. I tried electrical and scotch tape, but the wired just kept cutting. Shortly thereafter, the sound stopped. Now if I wiggle the wire, I may get sound as long as I do not move! This is a great sounding set, it just suffers from bad design. If you buy it, be cafeful of the back wire, maybe tape it down from the beginning and it might last longer.
