"FFXI TOAU"
The TOAU expansion for FFXI has added lots of new content for higher level players. This past update added alot to it and there is lots more to come! The new expansion is a nice change in environment, yet stays within the context of the MMO.

you should try this one if u didnot try it untel now new high class that will make u forget any other game (for somtime) i donot know how this squar enix thinks but there games in every consol take a very high rats but for a while ;) this new one have a good featurs with alot of new armors and new areas new chalenge and i think it will be the best expantion of this year

the but this time it is they did not add new skills for the old class but i've heard they will add in the coming updats (we hope so) and they didnot expand the limit of the lvls from 75 (i know it is impossibal to do that becauze if they did that a lot of jobs will be no use for it becuaze a lot of jobs had there special ability and spells in lvl 40 so they should find a soultion)

FFXI: ToAH is by far the best expansion for the series todate. Not only are the new jobs a huge breath of fresh air, but the new areas and hints at more expansions with more areas like this are totally exciting. If you've been a long time subscriber of the series this is a MUST buy. I don't want to discourage anyone new from trying this game, because it is one of the better MMORPGs out there, but there is getting to be ALOT to buy with the monthly fees on top. If you want to get in, now would be the time with this new expansion.

The graphics are great, the missions are pretty varied and also fun, there is plenty to do in the game, and on top of that all there are some super helpful people.

Great product that gets better.

"Eye of the Beholder"
First of all, this is a review for Final Fantasy XI Online in general, as well as the expansion.

For those of you who haven't played FFXI and are looking into it, I'm going to give you a list of pros and cons and you can either use these as helpful information or disregard them and find out for yourself.

Pros:
-Decent plot and narrative
-Variety of jobs and subjobs
-Many areas, monsters, items, and spells
-Large, mostly courteous communtiy
-Easy to learn

Cons:
-Small selection of character models (Faces and hair)
-Cannot play solo for long
-Very time consuming
-Expensive in game items
-Long to install and update
-Death loses experience points

It took me 15 hours to install FFXI and update with dial up. Another 4 on other updates, and then 7 with this expansion and further updates. If you have this game, you must have cable or DSL or faster. Unless you have 5 hours a night or better to dedicate to this game, do not buy it. Finding parties is tough and time consuming. It costs $12.95 a month to play plus $1.00 each character after. There are many, many high level characters with tons of money and buying items is next to impossible unless you farm for hours on end. Leveling requires a party so say goodbye to solo. Most quests are long and pointless and you get nothing out of them. Ever since this expansion launched, there are over 500 blue mages, 300 corsairs, and 200 puppetmasters. I had a party the other night with 2 Blus and a Cor. The Blus run around getting monsters to unleash their main attack so you can barely get a claim at low levels. Most zones are overcrowded with parties. Buying spells and mage equipment is ridiculously expensive. The game is frustrating and gets annoying and boring very quick. I can't say it's not fun. Some nights it's very fun and I have a good time and a good party. Other nights, I want to turn it off, uninstall it, and cancel my account. A good game, but not great. It's in a class of it's own. A cult game, you could say. It's the type of game where you love it or hate it. And sometimes both. If you are just starting this game, keep in mind you will have nothing, have a hard time finding something, and everyone around you will have it all.

About the expansion. I've done two quests, one in Bastok, one in Windurst to get a pass for the mercenaries. I have no clue how to get to Aht Urghan and the new jobs kinda blow. The new monsters in the areas look cool, and there have been some new updates and synth items. Overall, it's average.

Ok, well this expansion looks like it has a lot to offer: 3 new jobs, and a lot of new areas, however, you can only install it if you have a DVD-ROM, or better in your computer. S-E did NOT release a CD-ROM format copy of ToAU.
