"Stay Away"
Doesn't work on Vista.

Doesn't use the mouse (have fun aiming with the keyboard)

What a joke, last time I buy anything from Capcom, if I can convince someone else not to waste their money I've done my good deed for the day

"Resident Evil 4 (PC)"
Overall it was fun. But it lacked a little "Umf" that I was expecting from a Resident Evil. I do recommend you buy this game or at least rent it its worth the money but it might leave you with a bitter sweet experience.

"Worst port EVER"
This is the very last time I will ever purchase a Playstation port over to the PC. If software is developed for the Playstation, it is quite simply made to be played on the Playstation. Everything about this port over is just absurd garbage from the first intro frame. One, the screen is awkward. Two, the game will just randomly crash while on Windows. However, thirdly and worst of all THE GAME CONTROLS LIE TO YOU ON SCREEN. If you are familiar with any of the games in this series, there are moments when you will have to randomly press a sequence of buttons when prompted on screen. HOWEVER, in this weak and absurd port over, the on screen signals HAVE NO RELATION TO ANY ACTUAL KEYBOARD OR CONTROL FUNCTION. Instead of saying, for example, "ENTER KEY!" or something simple like that, the pc version will spam "3!!" or "1 + 2!!" and the numeric keys on your keyboard actually have nothing to do with the actual controls that you need to use. Turns out that "1" actually means the enter key... such lies at such critical moments are simply intolerable. Keep in mind that it will randomly generate a set of controls so you'll have to translate and/or figure out what the game actually means instead of simply PLAYING the game. DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PC PORT. If I even hope to have fun with RE4 I will have to spend more money on the actual real Playstation version.

"Worst Port I've Ever Played !!!!"
I bought this game because the pc is the best way to play a fps. This was the most disappointed i have been playing a game. Not being able to use mouse to aim is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. Im not sure what they spent all their time on when they developed this game for the pc. They spent too much time smoking weed and not enough making a game worth playing. The graphics are darker and worse than on the gamecube or ps2. There is no option to improve the graphics. Its basically the same exact options on the gamecube and ps2. Bottom Line stay away from this like the plague. Its horrible and they should pay you to play it. However, if you own a ps2 or gamecube buy this game its awesome. Just somehow everything got lost in translation when they ported this to the pc.

"Nice Gameplay, Bad Controls"
I played the PC version of this game and had high expectations for it. It would have made all of them except that the controls for the game were very awkward and it was hard to manuever and aim. I think if Ubisoft had taken the time and fixed up their controls for their PC version of this game, it would have made it easier to play.

"RE4", The gameplay and graphic's for the pc version of this game are excellant and would suggust to others to try it you will like it!

"Who needs an Umbrella?", I don't know much about the mechanics of video games, but I know what I like, and I love Capcom's RESIDENT EVIL series. From the very first time I played a game in the series, I was hopelessly hooked on its combination of creepy, horror-movie atmosphere, brutal violence (shotgun vs. zombie = organic firecracker) and complex backstory. A lot of thought went into creating and expanding the RE-verse, and I never get tired of visiting.

Now, it must be said that RE 4 is not as much a sequel to the earlier games as the name implies, but rather a new storyline with some old characters. The Umbrella Corporation, which has been the staple villain of the series, is basically nowhere to be found here - the opening movie explains that following the destruction of good ol' Raccoon City by a nuke at the end of RE 3: NEMESIS, the Federal government put the kybosh on that gaggle of power-crazy mad scientists. In addiition, there are no zombies in this game, and the concept of "survival horror" has been kind-of abandoned, since the idea is not to "get out of town alive" but rather to carry out a specific secret-agent-type mission.

The storyline is this: Leon Kennedy, who you last saw (and played) in RE 2, is now no longer a bumbling rookie cop with a bad haircut, he's a bada*s secret U.S. agent with a somewhat improved haircut, looking for the missing daughter of the American President. His quest takes him to a remote village in Spain, where he is beset by homicidal townspeople who act like zombies, but aren't. He eventually discovers the whole town, as well as all the surrounding areas, are under the influence of a parasite similar to the T and G viruses from the earlier games, but which is controlled by a weird religious cult ensconced in a nearby castle. Natch, the cultists are the same doofs who kidnapped the President's ridiculously nubile daughter Ashley. Guns-a-blazin', Leon attempts to rescue the oft-kidnapped Ashley and get out of dodge, encountering on the way a whole parade of flesh-eating monsters, smug villains and not-too-terribly challenging puzzles.

RE 4 is loosely linked to the original storyline by virtue of certain characters, such as sultry `n treacherous Ada Wong, who may or may not be working with others to revive Umbrella (she has her own playable storyline which is unlocked when you beat the game), but on the whole it's its own thing, and not a bad one at that. On the plus side, the creepy atmosphere is very well-established, with a depressing color scheme, good SFX, and the usual spooky music. The weapons array is richly diverse and there are weapons merchants who can upgrade your arsenal throughout the game (money has been added, which brings a new dimension to the story, as you have to pay for your new toys). The parasite-infected townspeople are smarter and faster than zombies and some of them are armed; indeed, the array of bad guys and bosses is pretty impressive, including one SOB wearing a burlap mask and hefting a chain saw who just wouldn't die and scared me half to death before he cut my head off.

On the downside, the game itself is very, VERY long. I kept thinking I had come to the end when, in fact, I had just finished another in a seemingly endless list of chapters. Ashley gets kidnapped and re-kidnapped so many times it becomes a joke, and as always, the inability to save for long periods of time condems you to replay sections of the game much more than you would like. Most annoyingly, the game is not "truly PC" in that you cannot actually play it without the purchase of a dual axis, 12-button joystick to supplement the keyboard controls. This makes things needlessly awkward...not to mention expensive.

Having said all this, I truly enjoyed playing RE 4 and firmly believe it is a great game and a worthy addition to the franchise. Now excuse me while I blow a mumbling monk's head off with my high-powered rifle.

"Resident evil 4 on pc", Resident evil 4 on the pc is awesome!! I love it! But be forwarned in advance!! Don't depend on the keyboard to be very useful and effective if you want to have true re4 experience. I reccomend you buy the pc version of xbox360 controller. When i purchased it i was blown away! It works just like the nintendo gamecube version. Also pay attention to the recomended spec requirements so you will not experience any technical problems. I had to buy an advanced 3d graphic card for my pc and had to get a 512 megabyte ram card cause i needed it for the bare functions of the re4. It increased the framerate and performance of my computer and now i "enjoy"! So before buying the game look for more ram (if your computer is below memory) and look for a 3d graphics card if your computer is 1.8 megaherts or below.

"Zombie fun!", My conclusion first, then the details for those with patience. Do you own a playstation or gamecube? If yes, stay away. Your expectations will kill the game for you. Do you love zombies? If so then your the crowd I'm talkin to. When it comes to fighting the undead theres a lot of bang for your buck here. One word of warning, this can be a fun game but only if you happen to have a game controller, otherwise its impossible to enjoy. Expect the same ol save point drama too, so buyer beware.

Now for the details:

I played this back when it came out on my roomates gamecube and it was a lot of fun despite my hatred toward save point structured console games. The game was nearly endless, had plenty of bonuses and zombie goodness to keep my hands sore. Its been years later and I'm glad to play it on the PC with my xbox controller, not only is it a pretty true port its still a lot of endless fun. Of course it doesn't seem to look as good as before, but Donkey Kong today isn't as scary as it was back in the day either. But if I had a choice to stick with the PC version or have someone give me a free gamecube, I would still stick with the PC version.

They have added more, its got all the old bonus levels plus one more Ada set, two new weapons to earn as well. Its just as responsive on a xbox controller although yes, confusing when they ask for button mashing during movies, but hey that used to confuse me anyways on the gamecube.

So if a few grainy cut scenes don't ruin your day, you don't own the gamecube, you don't have allergic reactions to gamepads, and you want to see what the fuss was about back in the day, $20 rarely buys more fun than this.

"Great Game, Poor Port", Resident Evil 4 is an incredible game, but this is by far the worst version of the game you can get. With RE4 being available on four platforms, there are better ways to experience this game. If you don't have a Gamecube, PS2 or Wii and the PC version is the only way you can possibly play it, then you'll have to deal. But if you can find a way to get around playing the PC version, do it.

By now most everyone knows the story of Resident Evil 4, but let's go over it just in case someone doesn't know. You play as Leon Kennedy, a member of the secret service on a mission to rescue the President's daughter. You'll be dropped off near a village where something has gone completely wrong the villagers. They're fierce, aggressive and will attack you on sight. Something is very wrong and rescuing the President's Daughter is not going to be as easy as it seems.

Resident Evil 4 may not sound like much but the adventure is action packed. Easily one of the best Resident Evil games in the series. As you go through the game you'll come across some mean bosses. You'll also come across points where you'll have to be quick. You'll have a pound a button to sprint or press two buttons at the same time to dodge certain attacks or perform certain actions. Failing to do so will usually result in certain death. The music is still top-notch and some of the visuals are still up to par. But as I said, the PC version is the worst of them, and it's almost entirely because of the controls.

The game remains tailored toward console gamers. The keyboard controls aren't friendly and there is no mouse support. Playing using the keyboard is almost impossible, particularly during the sequences where you'll have to press certain buttons to dodge things. Resident Evil 4 was a hard game to begin with, the PC version is harder because of the controls. You'll die many times when you really shouldn't because the controls don't work out. Luckily, the game supports a gamepad to emulate the experience you get on the console. It'll be much like playing the PS2 version all over again.

At the very least it's not too expensive, but at the same price you could easily find the Playstation 2 version or the Gamecube version. And for ten dollars more you can get the Wii version. If by any means you have any of those consoles and you haven't played RE4, one of those versions is the one to go with.

Finally, another small problem is simple: It's another release of Resident Evil 4... but the least worthwhile. The default keyboard controls are already bad enough, but even worse is that there are no PC Exclusive extras. By now, almost everyone who wants to play RE4 has. If you're even slightly curious to the PC version, there's nothing here that you didn't get on the PS2 version.

In short, if for some reason you haven't played RE4, the PC version is not the one to go for. If you're looking to play RE4 in a different way... the PC version is not the one to go with. It's easily the worst version of RE4 you can buy.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Awesome", This game is amazing. Everything you ever wanted out of a Resident Evil game this one has.

"An ill-Mannered Resident Evil", I have to agree w/ and say 'Ditto' to all the 1 star reviewers here. This was a complete rip-off from the word go. The port from console to pc must have been done within 10 minutes or something. Really Ubisoft, what vendor did you farm out this big hunk of steaming blank to? I loved Resident Evil 4 on my Playstation but my console up and died as did my Xbox eventually. I have to have a Gamepad to be able to play this at an enjoyable level? Puhleeeez; I have a zillion USB cords running everywhere, I don't want another bloody controler type device adding to that mess.

"Resident Evil Trash", Wow, they got me! Shame on Ubisoft and Capcom for this piece of Junk. With all the hype and movie and all, I said wow what only $20. I figured it would be one of those $49 games. This game in not meant to be played on PC. I can live with that. They did a good job with Halo but these guys don't have a clue on how to bring a console game to PC. I saw Ubisoft a name I could trust. This from the makers of Farcry. Well this is a farcry form any good game. Some of my Valusoft games are way better than this. This game is so bad that even with all the patches It is not going in my used game box. It is going where this evil resident belongs, in the trash. And I was lucky enough to have a game pad. Don't bother buying one for this game. Then you will be out $40 for this. It is evil!!! It is not even worth the one star I gave it.

"SOOOO much fun!", In my experience, the Gamecube Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games created of all time. But now that I don't have the time to play it at home as much, I wanted a version I could take on the road. So while the Gamecube version is incredible, the PC version is almost the same thing. And what's even better, is that the PC version includes the new extras that Capcom made for the PS2 version, so now there's even more.
And yes, just like the console version, a gamepad is ideal for this game. Come on people, this is an ACTION game. This game is so good that I couldn't care less that no mouse control, and limited keyboard control is available. Maybe I'm biased because I'm so used to using a gamepad, but even before buying the PC version, I had expected to, and had only WANTED to use the gamepad. I already had 2 gamepads for my PC, as they can be used in lots of games. So yes, if you have a PS3/PS2, or Gamecube, get those versions, but if you want to take the game anywhere, the PC version is nearly as good, with the added benefit of being able to play it anywhere on a laptop.

"A $20 Coaster", This game is non-functional on the PC. The game package says "Peripherals Supported: Windows compatible mouse and keyboard", this is a flat out lie.

As you have probably learned from the other reviews, it does not support mouse. Not only that, even the keyboard doesn't work. After playing the game for 5 minutes a menu / screen opened, and I could not get out of it because there was no button on the keyboard mapped to close the menu. I would have had to drive to the local gamer store, purchase a console controller, in order to close that menu. The manual that comes with the PC game is actually the CONSOLE MANUAL, thereby making it completely useless because all the instructions refer to how to make it work with your CONSOLE. No mention anywhere of PC controls. All of the ingame menus and ques that come up refer to the standard console controller buttons...which of course I don't have, why would I? I own a PC. THey didn't even take the time to map really obvious console controller buttons to really obvious keyboard buttons, for example, the numbered buttons on the console controller could have been easily mapped to the numbers on the keyboard --- they did not do this. Infact, the very menu that I could not close had a note such as "to close this menu hit console controller button 5", and yet hitting the keyboard button 5 did not do anything. This is a no brainer, just map the console controller button 5, to keyboard button 5. It is unfathomable how anyone could be so lazy. If you don't mind going out and purchasing essentially a console controller, in order to play this game on your PC, then it may be a 2 star game instead of a 1 star.

Until I bought this game, I've never had to delete a game from my hard drive within 10 minutes or less of installing it. I now own a $20 coaster, that is the best use for the game disk I can find.

I might not be as annoyed if they had at least said on the package "Game console controller required to play". Though, for a pc game, there is no excuse not to have mouse support. If you are going to take the time to port a console game over to a PC, at least take the time to make it work on a standard PC. I guarentee you 99% of people who EXCLUSIVELY own/play games on a PC do not own console style controllers, there is no need, all PC games ever created, except this one, have mouse support. Compared to console controllers, the "mouse" system works 10x better for ALL types of games. If you have been playing on a PC all these years, like some of us, you would know that.

horrible, horrible, horrible. I will never buy another title from this company, or a console to pc game, ever again.
