"Kinda Cool Game, No Joystick Support = Return"
First let me say that my PC has decent specs (P4 3.2Ghz, 1Gb ram, Radeon X800) and I know my way around it as I built it. I installed this game, had an issue with DirectX as I chose NOT to install the bundled version with the CD because I already have it installed on my PC. The game didn't want to run since I didn't install the DirectX that came with it, so after re-installing the bundled DirectX, everything worked fine...except the joystick.

I decided to play the game thru the first couple missions on keyboard...ouch. Maybe I'm just not used to using keyboard only (even tho I play BF2 often with keyboard/mouse), but it just hurt after an hour or so.

On to the game play. It's ok, and the graphics are pretty nice. I can crank everything up to high on my machine, and I did. Learning how to site your target in while doing a maneuver was pretty helpful, tho unrealistic. The other thing that was completely unrealistic and total arcade was how you hit the left or right arrow and it goes into a hard, perfect bank. This just seemed kinda lame, but understandable for the arcade factor. Actually, I think this is why a real joystick won't work with this game...there are two types of left/right turns you can do on the keyboard: using the A & D keys, you can have aileron control, then using the down arrow will give you up elevator, which will do the same thing as holding the left or right arrow. I don't think the game knows how or which inputs to give to the real joysticks, which in turn leads to the problem with joysticks. I bet game-pad style joysticks work fine.

I went over to the Ubi soft forums and heard nothing but bad news about this game. I should also mention that I downloaded and patched the game and it still didn't work with my Saitek Cyborg Evo. This is a show-stopper.

I bought this game yesterday from CompUSA and will be returning it today for in-store credit. It's a shame that Ubi put out this game in this VERY unfinished form. It's obviously a port over from the Xbox version, and a VERY poorly done port over at that.

"These negative reviews aren't telling the story!"
Sucks to be you I guess, if you're one of the other reviewers who couldn't get this game to work because it's really an amazing game and you are totally missing out. Graphics are incredible and very smooth (with my P4 3.4Ghz, EVGA GeForce 7800 card, 3 GB RAM). Game installed without a hitch - I downloaded and ran the sizeable patch - and it played perfectly right away (no phone calls or support needed). The missions are quite challenging (sometimes VERY challenging) and fun and the WWII planes are really beautiful. I could come up with some minor gripes - like the repetetive radio messages (taunts) that come from the enemy pilots...the fact that you can't inflict collateral damage in the scenery (which includes some planes on the ground)...but they are minor and don't take away from the greatness of this game. The multi-player modes are a lot of fun also - you can play over internet, LAN, and even split screen. I should also say that I use a Logitech Rumblepad 2 as well as a Logitech Extreme 3D joystick, both without any troubles whatsoever (especially after I configured them using the utility included with the game).

I am honestly very confused about why this game has so many negative reviews - I almost didn't buy it because of them - but I am certainly glad I did! Love this game!

"Pathetic excuse for a video game"
Don't even bother. Purchased this game for the PC with great anticipation. After all, these are the folks that produced fabulous games like Heroes of the Pacific. But this game is a big-time loser on the PC. It's riddled with serious bugs and a lack of decent joystick support. Even with the 1.02 patch, the game is just impossible to play with a joystick. It's obvious to any monkey that this game was rushed to the finish line, obviously not for the benefit of customers. Save your money. This one is DOA.

"The Official Flight Game of WW2"
This games got it all, Meashing Guns, Bombs, Torpetos, Missles and Camra interface. The invierments are so detaled and diffent from one another you never get a repetive feel, and the targets are take'n right from the history book, from D-Day to destroing a Hevey Water plant (wich relly emprested me). And to top it all of it's got tons of mallty player game (Dogfight, Camikaze and others) and online play of corse.
And by the way THIS GAME WORKS FINE.

"Lasted 15 Minutes"
I was in the moddle of installing this game and the program quit and would not respond. I had just bought it. I would be more fun to run it over with a car.

"Best WWII air combat in a while", This is a solid air combat game, and reminded me of some past titles like Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, Red Baron, and Crimson Skies. It's a bit arcade-ish and cheesy at times, with too much radio chatter from the other pilots. But it's fun and doesn't suffer from trying to be too ultra-realistic or overly complicated. Flying and shooting is fun, but trying to remember dozens of keyboard controls is not - I can always have that kind of "fun" with Microsoft Office during work hours.

Installation was fast and uneventful. I did need to map the joystick controls using the settings program (Saitek Cyborg Evo), but I had no problems, glitches or crashes. The graphics were very smooth at high resolution with a dual core and 8600GTS video card. There have been many bad air combat games, but this one is worth trying.

"EXCITING WAR SHOOTING GAME!!!", Beautiful graphics and special effects. Realistic physics. Fun control play (Joysticks must be configured). Interesting, challenging missions.

I recently purchased a Logitech Attack 3 flight stick (only $15 at newegg) and this game. After reading these reviews, I wasn't expecting much and I'm impressed! I played this all night long and got to the 5th mission.

It's a shame that people are giving this game low reviews because they do not know how install it. Their inability to follow instructions has nothing to do with the game itself. If you can't get it working for PC, try renting it for X360 or PS3.

I have 170+ PC games and this one is definitely a unique worthy addition to my collection. As with all games, there are disadvantages -- example, setup + menus not designed logically and it crashes sometimes (*after* saving between missions) -- but none that prevent me from giving it 4-5 stars.

My favorite games include: Trackmania Sunrise/United (#1), Dirt, Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2, Puzzle Fighter, Killer Instinct, Tony Hawk X, Resident Evil 4, Onimusha X, Indigo Prophesy, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, World in Conflict. So, if you like my style of games, you will love this.

"Fun game, once you get a hang of the controls", I bought this game not expecting much, but I was itching for a new WWII flight sim, so I got it anyways. First off, if you're used to other sims (like Jane's WWII Fighters), you're going to want to remap the controls. There's a key that allows the plane to make a perfect turn automatically, but this is really counterintuitive, so I tweaked it so I could use the aileron and elevator controls to maneuver the plane, and that made all the difference in the world.

One big strength this game has is the follow camera, which stays centered on your target when held down. It's tricky to use this effectively at first, but once you've mastered it, you'll be blowing enemy planes out of the sky left and right. Tip: Using the follow camera and the brake will improve your dogfighting dramatically.

Now, onto the weaknesses. The level of difficulty is surprisingly steep, and the missions get tougher and tougher as you go on. You'll often face waves and waves of enemy planes that you have to take down virtually on your own. The torpedo and photo recon missions are particularly frustrating; the aiming reticle for the torpedos is very touchy and takes a lot of patience, which you'll soon run out of when you're flying into a hail of anti-aircraft fire. Same with the photo function, though it's somewhat less dangerous. Finally, no matter how you map the controls, if you're using the keyboard, you'll probably develop arthritis at an early age.

Overall, I recommend this game if you're a WWII buff who has some patience and time to adjust the game to your liking. You can fly a large variety of different British, American, Japanese, and German planes, the graphics are great (though I can only run it on medium settings), and it's pretty intense and exciting at times.

"Aces High", Because there is no support for my Saitek AV8R joystick through the game. I had a tough time with the controls at first and was disappointed, but after a few hours of tweeking I got everything mapped perfectly. Now game play definitly more enjoyable!

All you guys complaining about no joystick support is untrue. You need to learn how to use the mapping software that comes from your joystick manufacturer or go back to playing on your xbox or playstation. PC's are not for you.

The planes are stunning. The scenery is very realistic. The game is hard but not too hard. Excellent balance between arcade and sim. Its just enough arcade to keep it simple and just enough sim to keep realistic.

"Horrible", This game was rushed to release. 2 Patches over 100M and the game still doesn't work right.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Not as bas as other reviews make it out to be...", While installing the game, basking in the promise only new games can bring, I decided to pass the time by checking out the reviews here on Amazon. Everyone rips this game apart. Having just bought a new joystick for this game, I was especially concerned by everyone's disappointment with how the game played with one.

After installing the game, it gave me an error message on startup. Reseraching it on Ubisoft's Knowledgebase revealed that the game requires that you install the same DirectX 9.0c that's included. That's wierd, but after a reinstall, I was good to go.

On my first flight, my plane lifted off and immediately spun into the groud uncontrollably. After fiddling around with the controls, I found out my throttle was being used as my roll. Fixing the problem with some common sense joystick configurations fixed everything and the game is both great to play and good for joystick use. The problem would of been avoided if Logitech woud of had the pre-defined button configurations ready, but they haven't come out yet since the game is so new.

Overall, this really is a fun game that looks and plays great. Nothing extraordinary must be done to overcome any initial problems.

"it works", after reading the reviews on amazon i was not going to buy it, but lets be honest you must have an updated computer, the install was a little tricky but i contacted ubi soft and in 15 minutes i was up and running , i had the guy at game stop demo it for me and was impressed, i own just about every flight sim game but the graphics are nice you get to fly over towns and villages in ww 1 plane and take on newer planes the last ubi soft game i bought was heros of the pacific and i was dissapointed but on my first run this game kept my attention for an hour and a half. perhaps the people that complain need to upgrade there computers i use the best ati radeon video card my dell dimension 3000 can handle and have done every upgrade on the system, you do not need to spend 4000 dollars on a gaming computer to make these games that go for 39.00 work. . i was able to manuever the planes nicely even with out the joystick plugged in for the money i paid im very happy with the game

"not even close to recomending this game...!!!", i purchased this game 3 weeks ago..it is the worst tripe i have seen come from ubisoft in a long time. I cannot even understand why they would allow a PC game to be released in this condition. it is in my opinion the a complete waste of 50.00 canadian that i have ever spent. i would be less unhappy if i grabbed a 50.00 bill and set it on fire. there is almost zero online playability that was promised due to issues with the game and a very common item on most home computers"a router". this must be something that ubisoft completely forgot to take into consideration. i have a set of saitekx45 sticks and they work with every other game but this one. i have already unloaded this game out of my system due to ubisoft choosing a DANGEROUS and well written about copy protection program called starforce. Ubisoft has now "said" they are dropping starforce but we that own the games on cd wil;l still be force fed the download.
i urge anyone considering purchasing this game seriously please whack your head hard on a sharp object..you will feel better afterward then buying this game.read the forums at ubisofts website about blazing angels ww2 for PC and see the reactions for yourself.

"Forget it joystick doesn't work", My joystick doesn't work properly and after reading the Ubi forum it looks like 80% of the people out there are having the same problems. I hope I can get a refund for this trash. Their patches don't work either. WASTE OF $$

"Defective Software", I should have read this reviews before buying this junk.....
I bought the one for the Xbox 360 and it works great...
This one I bought to make comparisons of the 360 vs my PC..
The 360 it is better...no match for 3- 3.2GHz processors (360)
against 1-2.66Ghz poor pentim 4(my PC).....
Other than the performance...YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE PLANES
WITH A JOYSTICK OR KEYBOARD....I want my money back!!!!!
I Thought of selling it used here but I AM NOT A THIEF!....
