"A Must Have for MacBook Owners"
This adapter is a must have for any macbook owner. I use my macbook as a desktop system with a 20" lcd, wireless keyboard & mouse etc, around 90% of the time...the other 10% I just grab the macbook and go in the field to use it during consultations.

It would be wise to also purchase the DVI to VGA adapter as well if your a road warrior. Having it in your laptop case is really great when you need to connect to a large display on-site, or even better when you need to plug into a projection system. Another reason is if your lcd goes out, you can always plug into a vga only monitor or LCD and not lose downtime.

In conclusion, again, I would buy both the DVI to mini DVI and the DVI to VGA connectors. Both are manufactured by the same company and very durable, nicely designed products.

"24" imac connection TO external display"
This will connect iMacs' SCREEN DISPLAY ONLY from iMac to t.v. or external monitor. NOT AUDIO. First of three items needed.
1) THIS ITEM from iMac mini dvi port connected to........

2) IOGEAR GOLD-PLATED HDMI (F) to DVI-D DUAL LINK (M) ADAPTER (GHDMIFDVIM) . connected to.......

3) An HDMI TO HDMI cable. (This series of connections assumes that your t.v. or . external display you are trying to link HAS a HDMI input connection available)

4) Now to your external t.v. or monitors' HDMI connection

"Item Fine, Available Direct"

FYI, as of this writing, you can get this directly from Apple for $19.00 + $4 S&H. A better deal than shown here.

Oh, and you'll probably need another cord for any practical use. I hooked it up w/ this Eforcity Black 2 Meter HDMI Male to DVI Male Cable and now can use my HDTV as a 2nd monitor. Very cool.

Don't know why Apple doesn't just build in a regular DVI output or include this adapter. (Maybe to make more money?)

"Apple M9321G/B Mini-DVI to DVI"
This cable only provides Digital DVI and not Analog.
It should provide both.
The problem arises if one did not purchase a DVI-Digital ONLY cable, it will not plug in. Good thing a reviewer provided a picture of the DVI plug showing it will not accept a DVI (digital and analog) plug.

"Good working adapter,but..."
This Mini DVI to DVI adpater works well. It was purchased to connect my MacBook to a 23" Cinema Display. My only wish is that the adapter could be slightly longer. Otherwise works great.

What our customer's say!

"Mini-DVI to DVI ADAPTER! Exactly what it says it is!", I just got a 24" iMac 3.06 after my 9 year old custom PC died. It was time anyway and having been an early adapter of Apple computers, it was time to return to them. I will be using Fusion 2.0 to run Windows XP Pro on the iMac since all my business software is Windows.

So having a very nice 21" ViewSonic monitor, I knew from reading up on the iMac that I would be able to use it as a second screen just by plugging it into the back of the Mac. Of course, I did NOT expect a full size DVI-D plug on the back after looking at pictures of the back of the iMac online, so I knew I would need some sort of ADAPTER to be able to use the cord that came with the ViewSonic. This is that ADAPTER.

I keep capitalizing ADAPTER because apparently some reviewers here are confused over just what this product is. It is an ADAPTER which goes from the cable your second monitor already has on it or came with it to the back mini jack on the back of your Mac. It is NOT a full size monitor cable. Doesn't say it is and doesn't pretend to be. I work in the world of film and video and we use hundreds of different ADAPTERS to hook things back and forth into equipment. It's part of the job since there are so many different pieces of equipment and they all seem to have their own plugs.

So folks, read up on what you need. Apple does make other ADAPTERS to fit other cables. Just make sure you buy the right one and you'll be fine. But make sure you read up on it and see what you need. There are other ADAPTERS and cables offered here on Amazon that will work too and some that are longer. But you will need a monitor cable with the right sex and right pin configuration to use this ADAPTER with your iMac.

As far as the ADAPTER is concerned. It works. It's a little pricey but hey, it's Apple. And as of this writing, they've dropped the price here so that even with shipping, it's cheaper than ordering it from Apple online or picking it up at a local Apple Store if you have one near.

With mine, I plugged it into the ViewSonic DVI monitor cable, switched on the Viewsonic, turned on the iMac, and BAM, there they were. Adjusted the screens using the Mac's System Preferences and I'm now happily using double screens.

So if you need it, buy it. It works!

"Just what I expected", The product is exactly what I expected and works as anticipated. Shipping from the vendor was very acceptable. I'm pleased with this purchase and this vendors ability to deliver what they promised.

"Good product, Why 3, don't fill my hdtv 1080p", I bought this product because I wanted to view my macbook in my Panasonic HDTV 1080p at 1920x1080 px , but this product don't fill the TV like PS3 does, it put the high resolution but let one inch of margin in all the sides of the TV,

Is expensive for a adapter and if you want to put you mac on a VGA monitor need to buy another adapter, even if you want to put a movie in a old TV have to buy other adapter, its a shame that apple don't make this directly to HDMI because you need to buy a DVI-D Male to HDMI.

"It does the job.", This adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do - lets you hook a large desktop monitor up to your Mac laptop. No problems.

"Does what it's supposed to, but a bit short", This product works fine and does exactly what it's supposed to do---connects my Macbook to an external display. My only beef is that they could have made it full length so that you wouldn't need to use another another DVI cord with it.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Make sure you get the right cable!", This is a great product and is the best choice for connecting your MacBook or iMac to a digital screen. As other reviewers have stated, be careful which DVI cable you are getting. If you are connecting to an HDmi port, I recommend this cable: Cables Unlimited, HDmi To Dvi-d Cable, 6ft. I currently use both to connect my MacBook to my 46" 1080p TV and the quality retention of the digital signal is truly striking. Try Apple's QuickTime HD trailers if you're looking for a demo of the great picture quality. My only complaint is the relatively high price, but then again, there isn't anything else out there that fits the specifications. Remember, make sure the cable you're attaching is DVI-d and you'll save yourself some headache.

"Good product, a little awkward size though.", The cable works perfectly for my 13" Macbook on the Mini-DVI port, the only hindrance is the length of the adapter. It's only about 6" long and my Macbook sits on the far left side of my desk so it hangs over the edge of the desk without resting on anything. It doesn't fall out though, but if they made it just a bit longer, it could bend around behind the laptop and rest on the desk so there's no strain on the Mini-DVI port.

"Expensive, but it works", I need an adapter to connect my monitor to my mac. The adapter could be longer, especially after spending $30 on the adapter. If you can find another non-apple adapter I would purchase it. The adapter works great though.

"This should come with your computer!", The adapter works wonderfully. I could not give it 5 stars because I shouldn't have to buy it separate from my computer. Apple should stick with the standards so they don't alienate people who don't have unlimited piles of cash around to buy silly adapters that are unnecessary.

"Great item-use it with my new tv/ computer", Item arrived very quick! I started using it immediately. I connect a HDTV to my Imac computer to extend the monitor. Great for my photo editing and lay out programs.
