"Bad DVD disks!!! 5 times!!!", We ordered Mash Season 10 from Amazon and so far have returned it 3 times. We're on our 4th set now and have the same problem. I can't believe others aren't writing about this problem. Disk 2 freezes up at exactly the same spot during the "Birthday Girls" episode. Since it happens in exactly the same spot it has to be the disks. Has anyone else had this problem?

We're returning this to Amazon again and buying this season locally. Hope it's just a bad batch.

"Dad is happy", My dad waited patiently for this season to be released and he was very happy with the DVD's.

"execellent", I have been getting each season for my mom as they come out and she loves having M*A*S*H to watch whenever she wants.

"Still hanging in there!", Although not as good as the glory years of MASH (years 3-6), this is still a good compilation of some of the best television of its era. Fresh material is mixed in with some that MASH aficianados realize that they have seen before. It actually says a lot that a show definitely past its prime could still be this funny. A few episodes alone make this a worthwhile purchase.

"Sorry I fell asleep during the homily, Hawkeye", Let's start with the straight-poop, season 10 marked a heavy downslide for MASH and it was never able to pull up from the spiral. Whereas it was some of the best writing, acting and directing that you would see on TV at the time, and even now, it really departs from it's light-hearted roots. The heavy-handed anti-war messages (mostly, I understand the work of Alda's writing and directing) undermine the shows' overall integrity, and, will really turn off the casual viewer.

I actually found myself skipping episodes because I'd seen them on TV and didn't much care for the content (something I rarely do). Character development is basically complete by this season; the Padre gets very little screen-time, except for a nice monologue in "Heros" and Max is given more time and lines outside of being a punch line to become a favorite.

The only redeeming concept in this season is friendship/family---- which more reflects the cast's back-end ties rather than the writing. That, too, messes up the chemistry of family-conflict that was part of the original MASH formula.

Watch it, if you want to, buy it because you must. After owning seasons 1-9, it takes someone as strong-principled and stubborn as Alan Alda (who, otherwise, I think is a good actor, director, and human being) to stick to your guns and not buy 10 and 11. Unfortunately, it's kind of like watching an old friend start to fade; you hate to see them like this, but you have to see it through.

If you ignore this, watch it, and feel somewhat unsettled, try watching the first disc of any of the first 3 seasons; it will bring back fond memories, and not ruin the series for you.
