"Works right by the radio receiver"
This works well at home, near the radio in which it will be used. On the road, in my city of 200,000, it loses the signal a lot and has a lot of static. It must be held near the radio somehow to work in the car.

For home use, this is worthwhile.

"Reconciling the Reviews:"
It's easy to reconcile the widely varying reviews this little gadget has received. If you drive primarily in areas with few FM stations, and if you have an unobstructed line of sight between your iPod and your car's radio antenna, then you're going to like this transmitter. Otherwise ... not so much. The important point is this: you're not going to know how well this transmitter will work for you until you try it out in your car. (It's working great in my Audi TT roadster in southern Idaho.)

"Well built, but too weak to be useful"
The product looks very professional and is built with quality in mind. The interface uses the ipod display and plainly works... But it only works outside metropolitan areas, where the FM band is not packed with radio stations. Its signal is so weak that it is impossible to use it in the car unless you're driving on the countryside.

"Purchase only based on where you live"
I read a ton of reviews before buying the Kensington Pico FM Transmitter. Bottom line is that its performance depends on where you use it. I live just outside of NYC and it is really hard to find a station with no interference. However, the transmitter works good when I go on trips to places where you can't get too many stations on the radio.

"Looks cool, Doesnt work."
Awesome design, but i just cant get rid of the white noise in my car. And whats the use of an FM transmiter if you cant hear your music clearly?!

What our customer's say!

"Small but powerful", This tiny accessory offers a convenient way to use your iPod without wires. I bought this device to use on my Goldwing motorcycle and I can put the iPod safely in the trunk and it still transmits clearly to the FM radio. The sound is great for such a tiny device and tuning is easy.

"Kensington works fine", I've used a Griffin iTrip before, and it was great, but I lost it. I purchased this Kensington, and it works fine. In fact, I purchased a 2nd Kensington, and they both work real well. My kids use them all the time.

"not powerfuol enough", This is the weakest fm adapter I used. (of 3 or 4 similar products) It's really sleek and easy to use but there is just not enough power to get a clear signal. Also, there's no volume control from the ipod end when the transmitter is plugged in.

"weak!", I live near NYC, so open stations are difficult to find. However, even when found this transmitter was weak and needed to be in close proxcimity to the reciever and not moved, otherwise static. When a good station was tuned in the sound quality was marginal.

"Kensington 3365 Pico FM Transmitter", Great Product - so easy to use and it's so nice to be able to play all of my music on my stereo without having to remove and change CD's.

"Decent, but not great", It eats the battery (I should have gone with a powered transmitter, and likely will buy one in the future), but it works. As a result, it does not transmit the signal strongly to the selected channel (which means you have to keep it almost on top of the antenna source), and if it does, it is not as pure as others I have seen and tried. But for the price, it is a good item.

"About as good as you'll get (self powered) for the newer ipods", If you need a unit-powered FM device, you're stuck with this one. Luckily you'll be stuck with a pretty decent unit.

Not as loud or as powerful as the Griffin iTrip, but unlike the iTrip this thing will actually turn on every single time you play a song. I don't know about your requirements, but that is a pretty big one for me.

It's small as all heck. I can even fit it in my ipod's case with it's headphones. Pretty cool deal, I like that aspect of it.

It's naturally not as good as Kensington's powered FM Transmitter, but it gets the job done when it needs to. I took away a star because it's not as powerful as it could be, but again, when it comes to ipod-powered FM transmitters you'll do no better than this little guy right here.

"this tiny transmitter works great", I recently purchased the pico fm transmitter for my stepdaughter who is always attatched to her ipod. She used it the following day during a 5 hr drive to North Carolina and was thrilled with the results.

"Excellent !", nice product.. shipping was on time, and received it in perfect conditions.

I use it everyday, and I am very happy with it.

"Works best in less dense cities", Works very well, but works best in low density areas. I live near NYC so reception is spotty. But, when it works, it works. I bought it mainly for long distance travel in areas with few good stations, so it should suit my needs. Also very easy to set up and use. Pop it on the ipod and set 3 stations and you are good to go.

I would give it 5 stars if the reception could be improved.
